Description
BACKGROUND

The present disclosure relates to a device utilized when playing the game of roulette. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a device that is utilized by a player to track the trends of the winning numbers while actively playing roulette.

Roulette is a game of chance that is generally found in casinos. The object is to guess where the roulette ball, spinning on the rim of the roulette wheel, will land. In the game of roulette, the wheel (or spinner) is rotated counter clockwise while a ball is deposited within the outer rim of wheel and spun clockwise. The ball spins about the rotating wheel and is slowed by the frictional opposing force in the rim until the ball is pulled by gravity down into a particular numbered space (or pocket). In some cases, the ball may hit one of eight breakers imbedded in the sloping portion of the wheel bowl, which produces random motion of the ball to a final numbered space. The rate of the spinning ball and the random motion caused by the breakers makes the winning numbered space difficult to predict.

Roulette is played at a table having the aforementioned wheel and a betting area (or betting layout) for players. Players make predictions on where the ball will land by placing chips on the desired number or color on the betting area. The operator spins the wheel and releases the ball, and when the ball lands, the operator collects the losing bets and/or pays out the winning bets. Although roulette is a game of chance, people have long desired a means of predicting or tracking the winning bets. However, use of some prediction devices is illegal. Therefore, there is a need for a legal prediction device for predicting the next winning location of the ball when playing roulette.

The use of roulette tallying devices is known in the prior art as demonstrated in U.S. Pat. No. 2,866,601 to Naber. The Naber patent allows players to record the area of the wheel where the ball lands, for use in predicting the possible outcome of the next spin. However, the Naber patent does not provide a layout of the entire roulette wheel or an easy and accurate means to determine the proper bracket of numbers for the next bet. Further, the Naber device is a cumbersome and complicated device for players to use.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,744,098 to Grabowski discloses an electronic roulette calculator that records and visually displays the occurrence and number of winning numbers during play. However, the Grabowski patent does not provide the layout of the roulette wheel, nor the ability to display any grouping of numbers. Further, the Grabowski device is complicated and cumbersome to use and is not lightweight and easily manipulated by players.

U.S. patent application Ser. No 10/459,658 to Hodapp et al. discloses a roulette number bracket indicator to indicate the numbers located to either side from the number sought. The Hodapp et al. application utilizes a wheel having specific cutouts to demonstrate a specific bracket of numbers for prediction of bets. However, the Hodapp et al. application does not provide a completely visible layout of the roulette wheel, allowing for only cutouts displaying a specific set of numbers, restricting the ability of the player to find the appropriate numbers or to make accurate predictions for the next bet.

What is needed in the art is a roulette wheel tracking device that is easily manipulated by the player for rapid prediction of the next bet. The device needs to provide an easily readable display of the roulette wheel and an easily understood bracketing design, while being lightweight and easily accessible.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Persons of ordinary skill in the art will realize that the following disclosure is illustrative only and not in any way limiting. Other embodiments of the disclosure will readily suggest themselves to such skilled persons having the benefit of this disclosure.

The present disclosure is directed to a roulette wheel tracking device. When playing roulette, it is difficult to locate the winning numbers and to track a pattern of winning numbers in order to place bets. The roulette wheel tracking device provides an easily manipulated device that can allow a user to find the winning number and predict the next winning number. The roulette wheel tracking device has a listing of numbers corresponding to alphabetical sections for easily finding the winning number. After locating the winning number, the reference lines and/or section lines disposed on a rotatable member allows the use to predict the next winning number from the emerging pattern tracked by the user.

Although a traditional roulette wheel illustration utilized in the United States is illustrated on the roulette wheel tracking device (i.e., containing both a “0” and a “00”), any other roulette wheel illustration (i.e., containing only a “0”) is contemplated for use with the roulette wheel tracking device. The sections and section lines can be easily altered to accommodate any other roulette wheel illustration.

Referring to FIG. 1, the base 12 of an exemplary roulette wheel tracking device 10 is illustrated. The roulette wheel tracking device 10 includes a base 12 having a first side 14 opposite a second side 16 and a top portion 18 opposite a bottom portion 20. In the top portion 18 on the first side 14 of the base 12 is a roulette wheel illustration 22. The roulette wheel illustration 22 replicates the circular sections 24, 26 of a roulette wheel, including the positioning of numbers 28 (numerals 1-36, including 0 and 00), colors (black 30, red 32, and green 34), and spaces (i.e., the pockets that receive and retain the ball on the actual roulette wheel) 36. An orifice 38 is disposed through the center of the roulette wheel illustration 22. The orifice 38 is configured to receive a fastener (not shown).

Disposed about the circular section 26 are lettered sections 40 itemizing eight separate sections referenced alphabetically by letters A-H. The lettered sections 40 have separators 42 dividing each lettered section 40 to include a grouping of spaces 36. Although eight lettered sections are illustrated, any number of sections 40 is contemplated. Although four or five groupings of spaces 36 is illustrated, any number of spaces 36 is contemplated.

A listing 44 is located in the bottom portion 20 of the base 12. The listing 44 provides an index of the roulette wheel numbers 28 in relation to the lettered section 40 to which the number 28 belongs. For example, number 1 is located in lettered section H. The listing 44 also provides a citation as to which roulette numbers 28 are odd, even, red or black.

The base 12 comprises a material that can be printed upon for displaying the illustration 22 and the listing 44 and any other advertisement, sayings, logos, or markings contemplated. The base 12 comprises a lightweight material including, but not limited to, paper, cardboard, plastic, plastic coated paper, plexi-glass, combinations thereof, and the like. In the preferred embodiment, a paper material is utilized for displaying the illustration 22 and the listing 44 and any other markings. FIG. 5 illustrates the second side 16 of the base 12. Disposed on the second side 16 of the base 12 is a roulette wheel illustration 22. As on the first side 14, the roulette wheel illustration 22 replicates the circular sections 24, 26 of a roulette wheel, including the positioning of numbers 28 (numerals 1-36, including 0 and 00), colors (black 30, red 32, and green 34), and spaces (i.e., the pockets that receive and retain the ball on the actual roulette wheel) 36. An orifice 38 is disposed through the center of the roulette wheel illustration 22. The orifice 38 is configured to receive a fastener 72 (not shown). It is contemplated that in one embodiment the colors (i.e., red, black and green) of roulette wheel illustration 22 can removed from the roulette wheel illustration 22 so that the roulette wheel illustration 22 is only presented in black and white. This embodiment is contemplated so that users can easily find the numbers 28 without the distraction of colors 30, 32, 34.

Disposed about the circular section 26 are lettered sections 40 itemizing eight separate sections referenced alphabetically by letters A-H. The lettered sections 40 have separators 42 dividing each lettered section 40 to include a grouping of five spaces 36. Although eight lettered sections are illustrated, any number of sections 40, grouping any number of spaces 36, is contemplated.

A listing 74 is located in the bottom portion 20 of the base 12. The listing 74 provides an index of the roulette wheel numbers 28 in relation to the lettered section 40 to which the number 28 belongs. For example, number 1 is located in lettered section H. Disposed near (or proximate) the listing 74 is a chart 76 that can be utilized for tracking the recent winning numbers. The chart 76 is divided into columns 78 presented as either a red 80 column or a black column 82. Each column 78 has a block 84 for recording recent winning numbers. In the preferred embodiment, the recent winning numbers are recorded on the chart 76 using a dry erase marker. Therefore, the chart 76 can be easily cleaned for re-use.

Referring now to FIG. 6, a second member 86 is illustrated that can be coupled to the second side 16 of the base 12 over the illustration 22. The second member 86 has a body 88 having a first side 90 opposite a second side 92 and an opening 94 disposed in the center of the body 88. In a preferred embodiment, the second member 86 has a circular shape having a diameter equal to or larger than the circular roulette wheel illustration 22 disposed on the base 12. In one embodiment, the second member 86 extends up to about ¼ inch over the roulette wheel illustration 22. In another embodiment, the second member 86 can be about ¼ inch within the border of the roulette wheel illustration 22. The second member 86 comprises a clear material in order to view the illustration 22 disposed beneath the second member 86 when coupled to the base 12. The second member 86 comprises a lightweight material including, but not limited to, plastic, laminate, glass, and the like. Preferably, the material is a clear, lightweight, but durable, plastic.

Disposed on the second member 86 is at least one reference line 96 that extends through a centerpoint 98 and provides users with an ability to point to a desired number 28 (when the second member 86 is coupled to the base 12). Although only one reference line 96 is illustrated, it is contemplated that additional lines may be utilized.

FIG. 7 illustrates the exemplary roulette wheel tracking device 10 in which second member 86 of FIG. 6 is rotatably coupled to the base 12 of FIG. 5. In this case, the second side 92 of the second member 86 is disposed proximate the second side 16 of the base 12. A fastener 72 is disposed through the opening 94 in the second member 86 through the orifice 38 of the base 12. The fastener 72 allows for the second member 86 to rotate about the fastener 72 for positioning the reference line 96 in the desired location. As indicated above, the use of the roulette wheel tracking device 10 will be discussed further herein.

FIGS. 8 and 9 provide alternate embodiments for the roulette wheel tracking device.

It is contemplated that advertisements, logos, names, markings, and the like can be disposed in the center of the illustration 22, as a background to the base 12, the first member 46, the second member 86, or at any other location on the roulette wheel tracking device 1O.

When playing roulette, the roulette wheel illustration disposed in the betting area is not in numerical order, making it difficult for players to find desired numbers. Referring again to FIG. 3, the user can easily find the location of the winning number by referring to the alphabetically number sections 40. For example, winning number 1 falls within section H. The user can easily locate the winning number and alphabetical section by referring to the listing 44, 74 disposed below the roulette wheel illustration 22. At this point, the user can rotate the member 46, 86 to position the end of the reference line 66, 96 to the winning number. The user can then look to the numbers 28 on either side of the winning number or to numbers 28 located on the opposite end of the reference line 66, 96 for placing a next bet.

Routine roulette players find that winning numbers can fall into a pattern. The pattern that can emerge from tracking the winning numbers (e.g., using a chart 76) reveals that the numbers fall within particular sections 40 of the roulette tracking device 10. Referring again to FIG. 3, the user can rotate the member 46, 86 to position the end of the reference line 66, 96 to the winning number. At this point, the user can refer to the section lines 56 to point out (or points to or references) a particular section (or sections) including several roulette numbers (or spacings). Based upon the pattern tracked by the user, the user can look to the section 40 within the section lines 56 containing the past winning number or to any other section to which the pattern itemized. For example, if the past winning numbers were 17, 31, 7, 21, 5, 19, the winning numbers are alternating from one side of the wheel to the other. Therefore, the user can utilize the section lines 56 to choose a number following the pattern. In this case, the number to chose may be number 11. The user can then place bets on the surrounding numbers of 11 within the section lines 56, i.e., numbers 17, 32, 20, 7, 30, 26, 9, 28, and 0. These numbers are chosen using the section lines in order to try and take advantage of the pattern that is emerging from the recent winning numbers.

There are several advantages of the roulette wheel tracking device 10. The user can easily locate the winning numbers by referring to the listings. The numbers are in numerical order and have corresponding letters for sections itemized about the roulette wheel illustration. The user can then easily find the appropriate location of the number on the roulette wheel illustration by locating the letter. Further, the user can then rotate the members to line up reference lines and/or section lines to choose the next number to bet on or a group of numbers to bet on. The roulette wheel tracking device 10 is light weight, easy to manipulate, and compact enough to fit in a pocket or purse. The roulette wheel tracking device 10 can help the user to record and predict trends in the winning numbers. The roulette wheel tracking device 10 can help new, and seasoned, players to enjoy the game of roulette.
