Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates, in general, to games that can be played on a table such as cards, checkers, chess, dominoes, etc. and, more particularly, the invention relates to a floating game table for playing such games thereon while relaxing in a hot tub or a pool.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Various types of game tables for playing cards and board games, such as checkers, chess, dominoes, etc. have been in existence for many years prior to the conception and development of the present invention, as is generally well known in the prior art. These tables usually consist of a substantially flat slab made from a predetermined material having an upper surface where the game is played on and a bottom surface having legs attached thereto for contacting a solid surface to raise and stabilize the table. Many people use such tables in their leisure to enjoy playing these various games with friends and family. Many of these same people also like to spend time relaxing in a hot tub or a pool.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a floating game table for playing a predetermined game thereon while relaxing in a receptacle containing a predetermined fluid therein. The floating game table includes a main body member manufactured from a predetermined material capable of floating on such predetermined fluid. The main body member has each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size. Such main body member further has each of an upper surface for playing the predetermined game thereon and a bottom surface for contacting such predetermined fluid.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a floating game table that can be used to play a predetermined game while relaxing in a hot tub or pool.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a floating game table that is capable of changing from one game surface to another.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a floating game table that has lighting for playing at night.

In addition to the various objects and advantages of the present invention described with some degree of specificity above it should be obvious that additional objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description of the invention, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a floating game table particularly showing how different games can be affixed to a portion of the top surface of the floating game table.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the floating game table particularly showing lights for better viewing of the game surface of the floating game table.

FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view of the floating game table illustrated in FIG. 2 taken across the line III-III particularly showing weights attached to the bottom surface of the floating game table for stability while floating.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PRESENTLY PREFERRED AND VARIOUS ALTERNATIVE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

Prior to proceeding to the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity and understanding, identical components which have identical functions have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures.

Reference is now made, more particularly, to drawing FIGS. 1 through 3. Illustrated therein is a floating game table, generally designated 10, for playing a predetermined game thereon while relaxing in a receptacle, such as a hot tub (not shown) or a pool (not shown), containing a predetermined fluid, such as water (not shown), therein. The floating game table 10 includes a main body member 12 manufactured from a predetermined material capable of floating on such water.

The main body member 12 is constructed of at least one of a rigid and an inflatable material. The predetermined material being selected from the group consisting of polyethylene (PE) foam, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl and hard plastic.

Such main body member 12 has each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size dependent upon the number of players. Main body member 12 further has each of an upper surface 14 for playing the predetermined game thereon and a bottom surface 16 for contacting such water.

The upper surface 14 may include a fastening means, generally designated 20, for attaching such predetermined game thereon. The predetermined game has an upper surface 18 for playing and a bottom surface 22 for attaching to the upper surface 14 of such main body member 12. The fastening means 20 used could either be hook and loop fasteners 24 or magnets (not shown).

The predetermined game could be a board game like checkers, chess, dominoes, etc. The main body member 12 may further include a predetermined number of slots 26 and/or trays 28 for holding game pieces (not shown) used to play the game.

The predetermined game could be a type of card game such as poker wherein the slots 26 would be used to hold poker chips (not shown) and the trays 28 would be for holding cards (not shown). The number of slots 26 for poker chips and trays 28 for cards would be dependent on how many players the floating game table 10 is designed for.

The main body member 12 may further include a predetermined number of drink holders 32 for holding a drink therein. Once again, the number of drink holders 32 is dependent upon how many people the floating game table 10 is designed for.

Such main body member 12 may further include a predetermined number of drainage holes 34 for draining water that may collect in the trays 28, slots 26 and drink holders 32 while playing the predetermined game.

The main body member 12 may also further include a predetermined number of lights 36 on the upper surface 14 of main body member 12. The lights 36 will, preferably, be battery operated LED's. Such main body member 12 may still further include a switch 38 for turning such lights 36 on and off.

Main body member 12 may even further include a predetermined number of weights 42 attached to a portion of the bottom surface 16 thereof for stabilizing the floating game table 10 on the water.

While a presently preferred and various alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in sufficient detail above to enable a person skilled in the relevant art to make and use the same it should be obvious that various other adaptations and modifications can be envisioned by those persons skilled in such art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
