Description
BACKGROUND

The inventor of the present invention is a plumber. While installing a clean out cover to cover a clean out pipe plug he realized that the current method used was inefficient and time consuming.

The present method of installing a clean out cover is to purchase a clean out cover and modify a screw to go through the clean out cover and then connect the screw to the plug. In most instances, the plug has to be bored to receive the screw. By boring the plug, one weakens the plug's integrity. By weakening the plugs integrity, the plug can lead to leaks. When the plug leaks, the screw inserted into the bored plug can rust.

It is important to note, that clean out covers are not frequently removed, yet when they are first installed, inspectors have to inspect the clean out cover and inspect how it is connected to the plug. The inspectors inspect the integrity of the plug, for if the plug is damaged, the plug will leak. Because in most instances, the plug has to be bored to accept a modified screw, the plumber has to be careful not to bore to deeply.

An objective of the present invention is to provide a clean out cover that does not need a screw that has to be modified to attach to a plug.

Another object of the present invention is to prevent the boring of a plug when covering an opening in a wall with a clean out cover.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a clean out cover which can be easily attachable to an area surrounding an opening of a wall.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a plumber with a device that does not have to be modified to cover an opening of a wall.

Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a plumber with a clean out cover that can quickly be installed.

SUMMARY

The present invention is directed to a removable clean out cover that attaches to an area surrounding an opening of a wall. The clean out cover has a border that is adjacent and within the periphery of the clean out cover. The border houses an attachment strip, wherein one side of the attachment strip is fixedly attached to the border. In this embodiment of the invention, a removable strip covers the side of the attachment strip that is not attached to the border. The border has a width of at least one eight of an inch. The border might be channeled shaped.

The present invention is made of a plastic, aluminum, or any material known in the art of clean out covers and a two sided tape that is used as the attachment strip.

The present invention is used by removing the removable strip from the side of the tape that is not attached to the border and then attaching the clean out cover to the area surrounding the opening of the wall.

In another embodiment of the present invention, the attachment means is made of hook and loop materials and consists of a first hook and loop material strip, a second hook and loop material strip, and a removable strip. The first hook and loop material strip has two-sides, the first side of the first hook and loop material strip is fixedly attached to the border of the clean out cover. The second hook and loop material strip also has two sides. The first side of the second hook and loop material strip attaches to the second side of the first hook and loop material strip. The second side of the second hook and loop material strip is adhesive tape. The removable strip covers the adhesive tape of the second hook and loop material strip.

This embodiment of the present invention is made of a plastic, aluminum, or any material known in the art of clean out covers and two strips of hook and loop material. The strips are cut to fit within the border and one of the strips is fixedly attached to the border and the other strip has an adhesive side that attaches to area surrounding the opening of the wall.

The present invention is used by removing the removable strip from the side of the second hook and loop material strip and then attaching the second hook and loop material strip to the area surrounding the opening of the wall. Then attaching the first hook and loop material strip to the second hook and loop material strip.

DESCRIPTION

As seen in FIGS. 1, and 3-6, a removable clean out cover 100 that attaches to an area surrounding an opening of a wall, comprising a clean out cover 10, the clean out cover 10 defining a border 12 that is adjacent and within the periphery of the clean out cover 10. The border 12 houses an attachment strip 14, wherein one side of the attachment strip 14a is fixedly attached to the border 12. The removable clean out cover 100 further comprises a removable strip 16 that covers the side of the attachment strip 14b that is not attached to the border 12. The border 12 has a width of at least one eight of an inch. In an embodiment of the present invention, the border 12 might be channel shaped.

The present invention is made of a plastic, aluminum, or any material known in the art of clean out covers and a two sided tape that is used as the attachment strip.

This embodiment of the present invention is used by removing the removable strip 16 from the side of the tape 14b that is not attached to the border 12 and then attaching the clean out cover 10 to the area surrounding the opening of the wall.

As seen in FIGS. 7-8, in another embodiment of the removable clean out cover 100, the attachment means 20 is made of hook and loop materials. The hook and loop attachment means 20 comprises a first hook and loop material strip 22 having a first and a second side, wherein the first side of the first hook and loop material strip 22 is fixedly attached to the border 24 of the clean out cover 10, a second hook and loop material strip having 26 a first and a second side, the first side of the second hook and loop material strip 26 attaches to the second side of the first hook and loop material strip 22, the second side of the second hook and loop material strip 26 is adhesive tape, and a removable strip 28 covers the adhesive tape of the second side of the second hook and loop material strip 26.

This embodiment of the present invention is made of a plastic, aluminum, or any material known in the art of clean out covers and two strips of hook and loop material. The hook and loop material strips are cut to fit within the border and one of the strips is fixedly attached to the border. The other hook and loop material strip has an adhesive side that attaches to area an surrounding the opening of the wall.

The present invention is used by removing the removable strip 28 from the side of the second hook and loop material strip 26 and then attaching the second hook and loop material strip 26 to the area surrounding the opening of the wall. Then attaching the clean out cover's first hook and loop material strip 22 to the second hook and loop material strip 26.

An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a clean out cover that does not need a screw that has to be modified to attach to a plug.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it prevents a plumber from having to bore a plug when covering an opening in a wall with a clean out cover.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides a clean out cover which can be easily attachable to an area surrounding an opening of a wall.

A further advantage of the present invention is that it provides a plumber with a device that does not have to be modified to cover an opening of a wall.
