PRESSED LEATHER TIE AND METHOD
A necktie has a main body section and knot which are comprised of relatively rigid pressed leather. A collar is also provided, which is fixedly connected at one end to the knot, and which has a second end which is permitted to pass through the knot and to exit below the main body section, where it forms a grasping region for a user. A design may be embossed on the front portion of the main body section.
The present invention relates generally to neck ties and, more particularly, to a pressed leather tie and method capable of having an image embossed thereon.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONNeckties are a highly common article of men's clothing. A typical prior art necktie consists of a tapered tie body, comprised of silk or a synthetic material. The body is positioned around the collar of a wearer and knotted in front, so that the widest portion of the tie body descends in front. Prior art ties are typically dyed or otherwise colored, so that a design is visible thereon.
Prior art ties are comprised of a lightweight, flexible material, such as silk or a synthetic fabric. During wear, the tie body may become wrinkled. In addition, during wear, the front portion of the tie body may become displaced because of wind, the posture of the wearer, or otherwise, so that it is no longer presented in the most desired orientation.
The present invention is directed to a pressed leather tie and method, having a number of advantages as compared to prior art ties.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a necktie is disclosed. The necktie comprises, in combination: a main body section; a knot positioned proximate an upper portion of the main body section; wherein the main body section and knot are comprised of pressed leather; and a collar having a first end and a second end; wherein the first end of the collar is fixedly coupled to the knot; and wherein the second end of the collar is permitted to pass through the knot and to exit behind the main body section, where it is exposed to a user as a grasping section.
In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, a necktie is disclosed. The necktie comprises, in combination: a main body section; a knot positioned proximate an upper portion of the main body section; wherein the main body section and knot are comprised of pressed leather; a collar having a first end and a second end; wherein the collar is comprised of pressed leather; wherein the first end of the collar is fixedly coupled to the knot; and wherein the second end of the collar is permitted to pass through the knot and to exit behind the main body section, where it is exposed to a user as a grasping section; and an embossed design located on a front surface of the main body section.
In accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, a necktie decoration method is disclosed. The method comprises: providing a main necktie body section; providing a knot positioned proximate an upper portion of the main body section; wherein the main body section and knot are comprised of pressed leather; providing a collar having a first end and a second end; wherein the first end of the collar is fixedly coupled to the knot; and wherein the second end of the collar is permitted to pass through the knot and to exit behind the main body section, where it is exposed to a user as a grasping section; and embossing a design on a front surface of the main necktie body section.
Referring first to
At least the main body section 12 and knot 14 are comprised of a relatively rigid, pressed leather material. The collar 16 may be comprised of the same material or, optionally, may be comprised of a flexible material for enhanced comfort.
Referring now to
In use, a wearer will pull the collar 16 so that the second end is pulled out of the knot 14, until the collar 16 is sufficiently large to permit the tie 10 to be positioned over the head of a wearer and into position around a wearer's shirt collar. Once in position, a wearer may hold the knot 14 and, simultaneously, grasp the grasping region 18 and/or the grasping tab 20 and pull downward, tightening the collar 16 in position.
It should be noted that while the tie 10 has been illustrated as shown in
Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited, except as by the appended claims.
