Wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus

Abstract

A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus having an elongated body component, tubular in shape and subtly flared outwardly as respects the lower portion thereof once mounted to walling and being curvaceous about each end portion thereof with through holes in the mid-portion thereof each for receipt of affixation means serving to secure the apparatus to walling in the vicinity of studding located just behind the walling, and being optionally partially covered with a smoothly textured material substance.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The instant invention is one of those types of devices that serves to securely mount snowboards and indeed also skateboards to walling when such devices are not in use.

2. Related Art

The Informational Art Disclosure Statement submitted with this application sets forth art that however does not anticipate the instant invention.

A SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

1. A Brief Description of the Invention:

The instant invention is an elongated tubular shaped unit. It is curvaceous at or about either end and equipped with end plugs. The mid-portion thereof is characterized by the presence of a pair of countersunk through holes for receipt by each of a screw or nail serving to facilitate an anchoring of the invention to walling within a room at the locus of a building stud behind the walling. The lower portion of the invention is subtly flared outwardly in order to accommodate ready receipt and anchoring thereupon of a snowboard or skateboard.

2. Objects of the Invention:

The instant invention serves to provide a ready, convenient means for hanging unused snowboards or skateboards on a wall. Because of the unique configuration of the invention, a snowboard can be hung thereupon such that the top surface thereof is readily visible to an observer. Hence, the multivariable decorative graphics imprinted on the top surfaces of any such snowboards are easily seen by anyone looking in the direction of where such snowboards would be are so hung. This feature of the invention facilitates the promotion of aesthetically pleasing experiences. Moreover, the invention, by virtue of the manner in which such snowboards or skateboards can be so hung therefrom serves also to facilitate the saving of often much needed storage space about such walling. This feature is one that is particularly important to persons managing or operating retail sporting goods store outlets interested in maximizing product display potential.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIG. 1 depicts in perspective view an embodiment of the invention shown mounted to walling A just in front of studding B which is located just behind walling A and being typically so mounted at or near a 45 degree angle in relation to the vertical lie of such walling A. The tubular shaped and elongated body component 1 of the invention being for each of two differing embodiments of the invention either solid or hollow throughout is characterized by the presence of a pair of through holes 2 in the midportion thereof as can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3 respectively. Through holes 2 can be threaded in respect of the solid variant for receipt by each such hole 2 of a screw component 3 as per FIG. 2 or not threaded in respect of the hollow variant for receipt by each of either a screw component 3 or a nail component 4 as per FIG. 3 whereupon screws 3 or nails 4 placed into and through such holes 2 operate to thereby cause a stable mounting of body component 1 to walling A via studding B as seen in FIG. 1. Other affixation means insertable through, through holes 2 for such mounting purposes are envisioned as well. FIG. 4 is a lateral plan view of the hollow embodiment of the invention shown mounted to walling A. Therein, is shown body component 1, screws 3, through holes 2 and a curvaceous first end portion 5. A more curvaceous second end portion 6 of body component 1 is evident, for example in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3. The two holes 2 each amenable to receipt of a screw 3 or nail 4 are typically countersunk so as to prevent the heads of screws 3 or nails 4 once firmly embedded through walling A into the studding B and concomitantly into and within the body component 1 from scratching the bottom surface of any snowboard C or the top surface of any skateboard E hanging thereupon. Also, the purpose of having two holes 2 with each one being amenable to receipt of a screw 3 or nail 4, is to provide continuing stability to the position of the invention once initially mounted at or near a 45 degree angle relative to the vertical lie of walling A, over time while snowboards C or skateboards E would be continuously mounted thereupon and unmounted therefrom. FIG. 5 depicts in lateral plan view, the manner in which a snowboard C is held by the invention to walling A. Snowboard C is therein shown, held, hung by a binding component D thereupon, snugly to and within body component 1 with the binding component D thereupon resting atop first end portion 5 of body component 1. FIG. 6 depicts in frontal view, the manner in which a snowboard C as shown in FIG. 5 is held by the invention mounted to walling A. Skateboard E is shown in FIG. 7 being held, hung by a wheel mounted component H thereupon, snugly to and within body component 1 and resting atop first end portion 5 of body component 1. Helmet F is therein also shown hung from near the ultimate end of first end portion 5 of the invention. The subtly outwardly flaring of the lower portion culminating in first end portion 5 of body component 1 as seen in FIG. 4 of the invention once the invention is mounted to walling A serves to permit ready placement of a snowboard C or a skateboard E as between the non-curvaceous mid-portion of body component 1 and first end portion 5 wherein such positioning operates to hold snowboard C or skateboard E in place fast against the non-curvaceous portion of body component 1 as shown in FIGS. 5, 6 and 7 respectively. FIG. 8 serves to evidence the further utility of the invention as being therein shown holding, once mounted to walling A, not only a skateboard E but also a helmet F as well as a hat G.

Third and fourth embodiments of the invention feature a coating of a goodly amount of the external surface area of either the hollow or solid variant of body component 1 and in particular first end portion 5 thereof with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening soon subsequent to an application of the same thereto. The resultant hardened coating 7 about body component 1 and first end portion 5 as seen in FIGS. 3 and 4 enables one to hang a snowboard E upon the invention without fear that such a board C or such a board E will ever be scratched by frictional contact initially upon any hanging of the same upon and onto the invention. End plugs 8 are insertable into the edges of end portions 5 and 6 of body component 1 as respects the hollow embodiment of the invention.

The foregoing recitations serve to notably illustrate the novelty and usefulness of the invention. The invention operates to readily enable one to easily view the oftentimes creatively scintillating graphic design features often to be found on the top surfaces of snowboards C. Moreover, unlike as is the case with currently conventional devices for hanging snowboards C and skateboards E, which require that hanging occur such that only the edging of boards C and E are seen when looking in the direction of walling A upon which such hanging devices are mounted, the instant invention facilitates not only an aesthetical appreciation for such graphics but also tremendous space savings in respect of such hanging of such board units C or E in front of such walling A. These two aspects of the invention serve to greatly enhance “point of sale” considerations within the aegis of any given retail sporting goods outlet.

In closing, for the reasons cited about, respectfully submitted, the instant invention is not merely new, useful and unique, but indeed is veritably revolutionary in the art of manufacturing wall-mounted devices from which snowboards C or skateboards E can readily be hung.

Claims

1. A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus, comprising:

a. an elongated hollow tubular shaped body component;

b. said body component having a plurality of through holes in a mid-portion thereof.

c. each one of said plurality of through holes being amenable to receipt of affixation means for mounting said apparatus to walling and studding behind said walling;

d. a first end portion of said body component being curvaceous in shape;

e. a second end portion of said body component being more curvaceous in shape than said first end;

f. an extreme end segment of said first end portion being more curvaceous than a remainder segment of said first end portion;

g. a pair of end-plug components, one each being insertable into an end edge section of said extreme end segment and an end edge section of said second end portion; and

h. said body component with reference to an outer surface of said walling to which said hanging apparatus is so mounted having an outwardly flared lower portion including said first end portion thereof.

2. A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus, comprising:

a. an elongated hollow tubular shaped body component;

b. said body component having a plurality of through holes in a mid-portion thereof.

c. each one of said plurality of through holes being amenable to receipt of a screw for mounting said apparatus to walling and studding behind said walling;

d. a first end portion of said body component being curvaceous in shape;

e. a second end portion of said body component being more curvaceous in shape than said first end;

f. an extreme end segment of said first end portion being more curvaceous than a remainder segment of said first end portion;

g. a pair of end-plug components, one each being insertable into an end edge section of said extreme end segment and an end edge section of said second end portion; and

h. said body component with reference to an outer surface of said walling to which said hanging apparatus is so mounted having an outwardly flared lower portion including said first end portion thereof.

3. A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus, comprising:

a. an elongated hollow tubular shaped body component;

b. said body component having a plurality of through holes in a mid-portion thereof.

c. each one of said plurality of through holes being amenable to receipt of a nail for mounting said apparatus to walling and studding behind said walling;

d. a first end portion of said body component being curvaceous in shape;

e. a second end portion of said body component being more curvaceous in shape than said first end;

f. an extreme end segment of said first end portion being more curvaceous than a remainder segment of said first end portion;

g. a pair of end-plug components, one each being insertable into an end edge section of said extreme end segment and an end edge section of said second end portion; and

h. said body component with reference to an outer surface of said walling to which said hanging apparatus is so mounted having an outwardly flared lower portion including said first end portion thereof.

4. A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus, comprising:

a. an elongated solid tubular shaped body component;

b. said body component having a plurality of threaded through holes in a mid-portion thereof.

c. each one of said plurality of through holes being amenable to receipt of affixation means for mounting said apparatus to walling and studding behind said walling;

d. a first end portion of said body component being curvaceous in shape;

e. a second end portion of said body component being more curvaceous in shape than said first end;

f. an extreme end segment of said first end portion being more curvaceous than a remainder segment of said first end portion, and;

g. said body component with reference to an outer surface of said walling to which said hanging apparatus is so mounted having an outwardly flared lower portion including said first end portion thereof.

5. A wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus, comprising:

a. an elongated solid tubular shaped body component;

b. said body component having a plurality of threaded through holes in a mid-portion thereof.

c. each one of said plurality of through holes being amenable to receipt of a screw for mounting said apparatus to walling and studding behind said walling;

d. a first end portion of said body component being curvaceous in shape;

e. a second end portion of said body component being more curvaceous in shape than said first end;

f. an extreme end segment of said first end portion being more curvaceous than a remainder segment of said first end portion, and;

g. said body component with reference to an outer surface of said walling to which said hanging apparatus is so mounted having an outwardly flared lower portion including said first end portion thereof.

6. The wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus of claim 1, whereby a portion of an outer surface area of said body component is covered with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening about said outer surface area subsequent to having been applied thereto.

7. The wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus of claim 2, whereby a portion of an outer surface area of said body component is covered with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening about said outer surface area subsequent to having been applied thereto.

8. The wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus of claim 3, whereby a portion of an outer surface area of said body component is covered with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening about said outer surface area subsequent to having been applied thereto.

9. The wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus of claim 4, whereby a portion of an outer surface area of said body component is covered with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening about said outer surface area subsequent to having been applied thereto.

10. The wall-mounted snowboard hanging apparatus of claim 5, whereby a portion of an outer surface area of said body component is covered with a smoothly textured material substance amenable to hardening about said outer surface area subsequent to having been applied thereto.
