A compartmented resealable plastic bag comprising a plastic bag having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides, an inner plastic bag liner attached to the plastic bag, the plastic bag defines a resealable closure adjacent to the top of the plastic bag, the inner plastic bag liner and the plastic bag are heat sealed together so that channels are defined between the plastic bag and the inner plastic bag liner, the channels are positioned so that each channel is flush with another channel when the bag lies flat and each channel runs parallel to the lateral sides of the plastic bag, and at least a pair of rods, the rods insert within the channels that lie flush to each other. The rods possess magnetic qualities.

Description
BACKGROUND

The present invention relates to the field of resealable plastic bags. The invention provides a bag that can be adjusted to have at least two separate compartments.

Plastic compartmented bags have been well described in the prior art, see U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,024,536 and 4,993,844. The prior art discloses fixed compartmented bags, yet the compartmented bags cannot be adjusted by the user to house different sized objects within the bags.

The inventor of the present invention realized that he had to develop a compartmented resealable plastic bag that could be adjusted to have separately sized compartments.

An object of the present invention is to provide a bag that can be adjustably compartmented.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a bag for carrying goods that should not be mixed together, unless the user so desires.

SUMMARY

The present invention is directed to a compartmented resealable bag that satisfies the need of having a bag that can be adjusted to have different sized compartments by the user. The compartmented resealable plastic bag comprises a plastic bag having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides, an inner plastic bag liner attached to the plastic bag, the plastic bag defines a resealable closure adjacent to the top of the plastic bag, the inner plastic bag and the plastic bag are heat sealed together so that channels are defined between the plastic bag and the inner plastic bag liner, the channels are positioned so that each channel is flush with another channel when the bag lies flat and each channel runs parallel to the lateral sides of the plastic bag, and at least a pair of rods, the rods insert within the channels that lie flush to each other. The rods possess magnetic qualities.

The present invention is used by first providing a compartmented resealable bag. Then determining the size of the compartments needed to house objects with the resealable bag. Next, inserting the rods with the channels that define the size which was previously determined. Lastly, sealing the resealable closure of the compartmented resealable bag.

DESCRIPTION

As seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, a compartmented resealable plastic bag 100 comprises a plastic bag 10 having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides, an inner plastic bag liner 12 having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides, the lateral sides of the inner plastic bag liner 12 attached to the lateral sides of the plastic bag 10 so that there is a separation of at least an eighth of an inch between the plastic bag's bottom 10 and the bottom of the inner bag liner 12, the top of the inner bag liner 12 lies at least an eighth of an inch from the top of the plastic bag 10, the top of plastic bag 10 defines a resealable closure 11, the resealable closure 11 is parallel to the top of the plastic bag 10 and runs from one of the lateral sides of the plastic bag 10 to the other lateral side of the plastic bag 10, the inner plastic bag liner 12 and the plastic bag 10 being heat sealed together so that channels 16 are defined between the plastic bag 10 and the inner plastic bag liner 12, the channels 16 run parallel to the lateral sides of the plastic bag 10 and run from the top of the plastic bag 10 to the bottom of the plastic bag 10, the channels 16 are separated by increments of at least half an inch, the channels 16 are positioned so that each channel 16 is flush with another channel 16 when the plastic bag 10 is flat. At least a pair of rods 14, wherein at least one of the rods 14 is magnetic, the rods 14 have a length that is at least the length of the channels 16, the rods 14 insert within the channels 16 that are flush with each other.

The rods 14 of the present invention possess magnetic qualities.

The present invention is used by inserting the rods 14 within channels 16 that lie flush to each other, thereby permitting a user to determine the size of each compartment within the compartmented resealable plastic bag 100.

An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a bag that can be adjustably compartmented.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides a bag for carrying goods that should not be mixed together, unless the user so desires.

Although the present invention has been described in considerable detail with reference to certain preferred versions thereof, other versions are possible. Therefore the spirit and the scope of the claims should not be limited to the description of the preferred versions contained herein.

Claims

1. A compartmented resealable bag comprising:

a plastic bag having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides;
an inner plastic bag liner having a top, a bottom and two lateral sides, the lateral sides of the inner plastic bag liner attached to the lateral sides of the plastic bag so that there is a separation of at least an eighth of an inch between the plastic bag's bottom and the bottom of the inner bag liner, the top of the inner bag liner lies at least an eighth of an inch from the top of the plastic bag, the top of plastic bag defines a resealable closure, the resealable closure is parallel to the top of the plastic bag and runs from one of the lateral sides of the plastic bag to the other lateral side of the plastic bag, the inner plastic bag liner and the plastic bag being heat sealed together so that channels are defined between the plastic bag and the inner plastic bag liner, the channels run parallel to the lateral sides of the bag and run from the top of the bag to the bottom of the plastic bag, the channels are separated by increments of at least half an inch, the channels are positioned so that each channel is flush with another channel when the bag is flat; and
at least a pair of rods, wherein at least one of the rods is magnetic, the rods have a length that is at least the length of the channels, the rods insert within the channels that are flush with each other.

2. The compartmented resealable bag of claim 2, wherein the rods possess magnetic qualities.

3. A method of using the compartmented resealable bag of claim 1 comprising the steps of;

Providing the compartmented resealable bag;
Then determining the size of the compartments needed to house objects with the resealable bag;
Then inserting the rods with the channels that define the size which was determined; and
then sealing the resealable closure of the compartmented resealable bag.
