Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to pull handles for gym training apparatus. In particular this invention relates to device and method for a pulling devise which may allow the angle between the pull handles to be adjusted.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Usually handles for pulling training apparatuses exist with fixed angles and the user can choose from the variety of handles the handles which the angle between them suites him the best, and to install them on the training apparatus. A user may have difficulties in finding suitable handles in the variety of existing handles, and the process of choosing the best fitting handles may cause waste of time. It is therefore desired to have a device and method providing adjustable handles which enable every user to adjust the angle between them to his comfort, and which cancel the need for several different handles with different angle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The method and device of the present invention disclose handles for a weight pulling device which may allow the angle between the pull handles to be adjusted.

Attention is made to FIG. 1, which is a partial schematic illustration of adjustable pull handles device 10 constructed and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention. Device 10 may be pull handles of a pulling training machine (not shown), and it may be connected to pulling training machine by connection unit 30. Connection unit 30 may be connected to pulling training machine using hole 32. Device 10 may comprise two handles 12. Each handle 12 may comprise a cogwheel 14 at one end of it, where the other end of each handle 12 may be used for gripping and pulling by the user. Cogwheels 14 of handles 12 may be engaged together and may be connected to connection unit 30 by pivots 15 which allow cogwheels 14 to rotate freely together about pivots 15. Device 10 may further comprise two lock/unlock cogged units 16. The cogs of cogged units 16 may engage with the cogs of cogwheels 14 thus locking cogwheels 14 to their position and preventing them from rotating. When cogwheels 14 are locked a certain angle between the handles 12 may be fixed firmly. Each lock/unlock cogged unit 16 may engage to both of cogwheels 14 at the same time. Each lock/unlock cogged unit 16 may be connected to the connection unit 30 by spring 18. Springs 18 may keep the cogged units 16 engaged with cogwheels 14 when springs 18 are at equilibrium. Springs 18 may be connected to connection unit 30 at pivots 17. Lock/unlock cogged units 16 may be limited to move along axis X-X that connects both pivots 17. Lock/unlock cogged units 16 may be pushed away from cogwheels 14 by pushing dowels 19. When lock/unlock cogged units 16 are pushed away from cogwheels 14 the cogs of the cogged units 16 may depart from the cogs of cogwheels 14, which enables cogwheels 14 to rotate freely together, and therefore enables to change the angle between handles 12.

Attention is now made to FIGS. 2A and 2B, which are schematic illustrations of adjustable pull handles device 10 constructed and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention, without its cover. Lock/unlock cogged units 16 can be pushed away from cogwheels 14 by separator unit 20 which may be held between two dowels 19. Separator unit 20 enables to change the distance between lock/unlock cogged units 16. Separator unit 20 may be rotated about pivot 21. In rest position of separator unit 20, shown in FIG. 2A, the distance between lock/unlock cogged units 16 may be such that the cogs of lock/unlock cogged units 16 may engage with the cogs of cogwheels 14 thus locking cogwheels 14 to their position and preventing them from rotating. In this position the angle between the handles 12 may be fixed firmly. When rotating separator unit 20 to rotated position, shown in FIG. 2B, the distance between lock/unlock cogged units 16 may increase, and the cogs of lock/unlock cogged units 16 may depart from the cogs of cogwheels 14, which enables cogwheels 14 to rotate freely together, and therefore enables to change the angle between handles 12. Separator unit 20 may comprise barriers that may prevent separator unit 20 from further rotating after reaching certain rotated position which enables cogwheels 14 to rotate freely together.

Attention is now made to FIG. 3, which is a schematic illustration of adjustable pull handles device 10 operating according to some embodiments of the present invention. Releasing means 22 may be connected to the separator unit 20 (not shown) to facilitate the rotation of separator unit 20. When a change of the angle between handles 12 is required, releasing means 22 may be rotated about pivot 21 (not shown), thus activating separator unit 20 and enabling change of the angle between handles 12. When rotated back to rest position, that is equilibrium of springs 18, the angle between the handles 12 may be fixed firmly.

Attention is made now to FIG. 4, which is a schematic flow chart illustrating the operation of device 10 according to some embodiments of the present invention. When a user of a training device wishes to re-adjust the angle between handles 12 he may rotate releasing means 22 (step 42). Next step may be the changing of the angle between handles 12 to the desired angle (step 43) by rotating handles 12 about pivots 15. Next, the user may re-lock handles 12 at their new desired angle (step 44) simply by rotating releasing means back to rest position. Finally, the user may continue his workout (step 45) by pulling handles 12. Steps 42-45 may be repeated any time a change in the angle between handles 12 is required or step 46 may be repeated if workout is desired.

While certain features of the invention have been illustrated and described herein, many modifications, substitutions, changes, and equivalents will now occur to those of ordinary skill in the art. It is, therefore, to be understood that the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications and changes as fall within the true spirit of the invention.
