T & S all season water hose reel

Gravity flow for liquids evacuation from hose with the use of this specially designed drum with spiral grooves for coiling. Spring loaded allows reel to self wind hose with swivel connectors at the inlet for preventing tangling and crimping. A check valve is added to allow pressure relief so that liquids can self drain therefore making sure there are no liquids left in hose that could freeze.

Description: Plastic or Metal Housing—Interior & Exterior Cylinder Drums;

    • Depending on plastic or metal, there will be grooves or spacers formed in or on drum, to allow water hose to wind freely;
    • It will be a gravity self-draining hose, and a self winding hose.
    • It has a inlet hose swivel at the top to prevent tangling or crimping hose.
    • There is a quick connect at the top of the reel with a check valve to release pressure from hose in tank to cause water to drain by gravity out of the hose inside the tank. Also quick connects on tank & hose.
    • There is a spring inside the drum that self-winds the hose in between the interior & exterior drum/cylinder.
    • There is a 6 ft hose that quick disconnects at the supply faucet and at the top of tank (hose reel). There is also a quick disconnect at each end of hose reel.

Date of Conception: Dec. 1, 2006

Reference: Drawings attached as well as pictures of a prototype enclosed.

Comments: This hose & reel can be used year round outside in all types of weather.

    • The self draining of not only the hose, but also the supply line hose prevents freezing. The draining of this hose is not done by any form of squeezing, but by gravity. This device could be used for home, commercial or industrial purposes.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an exploded view of the T & S All Seasons Hose Reel invention showing the different parts connecting structure and assembly.

FIG. 2 is the drum cover which contains the hose and allows an opening for hose to extract and retract.

FIG. 3 is a view of the alternate cover design which allows for a domed top to better shed weather.

FIG. 4 is a detailed drawing of the drum assembly and design. Drum is to coil hose and has a ratchet molded into bottom for controlling recoiling of hose.

FIG. 5 is a detail of the hose fitting access opening. Exploded view depicts an opening large enough to accommodate hose end connectors.

FIG. 6 is a view of the drum ratchet which shows square drive hole and teeth for controlling hose retraction.

FIG. 7 is a view of the ratchet container which holds the pawl and pawl spring and 4 dowel bearings for the drive shaft.

FIG. 8 is a view of the pawl which fits over the retainer and catches the ratchet to stop the drum.

FIG. 9 is a view of the base/spring retainer which holds the recoil spring and holds the drum cover in place.

FIG. 10 is a view of the drive shaft which has slot and 2 set screw holes for connecting the coil spring.

Claims

1. All season hose reel device comprising of: Plastic or metal housing; Drum to have spiral grooves for coiling of hose allowing gravity flow of liquids to drain; Drum is coil spring loaded thus allowing reel to self wind the hose; Unit to have swivel connectors at inlet to prevent tangling and crimping of hose; Check valve used to allow pressure relief allowing liquid to self drain from hose therefore preventing freezing of liquids.
