Dual-purpose dumbbell
A dual-purpose dumbbell has a bar, two weights and two adjusting assemblies. The bar has two ends. The two weights are mounted rotatably respectively on the ends of the bar and can be configured longitudinally or transversely relative to the bar. The adjusting assemblies are mounted respectively between the ends of the bar and the weights to allow the weights rotated relative to the bar. When the weights are configured longitudinally, the dual-purpose dumbbell is used as a dumbbell or a weighted baton. When the weights of the dual-purpose dumbbell are configured transversely, the dual-purpose dumbbell can be used as a handle for doing pushups. Since the dual-purpose dumbbell can be used as a dumbbell, a weighted baton and a handle for use when doing pushups, less space is required to store exercise equipment and less cost is incurred to procure the exercise equipment.
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a dual-purpose dumbbell and especially to a dual-purpose dumbbell that can be used in different exercises.
2. Description of the Prior Arts
Most sports appliances have a single use. If a person wants to do different exercises, different sports appliances are required, which cost more money and requires more space for storage.
To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a dual-purpose dumbbell to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe main objective of the present invention is to provide a dual-purpose dumbbell that can be used as a conventional weight or a handle for pushups.
A dual-purpose dumbbell in accordance with the present invention has a bar, two weights and two adjusting assemblies. The bar has two ends. The two weights are mounted rotatably respectively on the ends of the bar and can be configured longitudinally or transversely relative to the bar. The adjusting assemblies are mounted respectively between the ends of the bar and the weights to allow the weights rotated relative to the bar. When the weights are configured longitudinally, the dual-purpose dumbbell is used as a conventional dumbbell or a weighted baton. When the weights of the dual-purpose dumbbell are configured transversely, the dual-purpose dumbbell can be used as a handle for doing pushups. Since the dual-purpose dumbbell can be used as a conventional dumbbell, a weighted baton and a handle for use when doing pushups, less space is required to store exercise equipment and less cost is incurred to procure the exercise equipment.
Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

The outer surface (12) may be cylindrical.
The through holes (13) are formed perpendicularly respectively through the centers of the inclined surfaces of the ends (11) and communicate with the outer surface (12) of the bar (10). Each through hole (13) has a countersink (131). The countersink (131) communicates with the outer surface (12) of the bar (10).
The weights (20) are connected adjustably respectively to the ends (11) of the bar (10). Each weight (20) may have a proximal end (21), a distal end (22), a locking protrusion (23), a fastening hole (24) and a foot (27).
The proximal end (21) is inclined, corresponds to the inclined surface of the end (11) of the bar (10) and has a center.
The distal end (22) has an optional recess.
With further reference to
The fastening hole (24) is formed concentrically in the locking protrusion and may be threaded.
With further reference to
The adjusting assemblies are mounted respectively between the ends of the bar (10) and the weights (20) to allow the weights (20) being adjusted relative to the bar (10). Each adjusting assembly may have a fastener (25) and a biasing element (26).
The fastener (25) is mounted through the corresponding through hole (13) in the bar (10), connects to the fastening hole (24) in the corresponding weight (20), has an enlarged head and may be a bolt.
The biasing element (26) is mounted around the fastener (25) between the bar (10) and the enlarged head of the fastener (25), pulls the proximal end (21) of the corresponding weight (20) against the inclined surface of the corresponding end (11) of the bar (10) and may be a spring.
The grip (30) is a pliable sheath, is mounted around the bar (10) and has a non-skid outer surface.
The dual-purpose dumbbell as described can be used as a dumbbell, a weighted baton and a handle for use when doing pushups. Consequently, less space is required to store exercise equipment and less cost is incurred to procure the exercise equipment.
Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
