INSULATED SHEATH FOR FREEZER BAR TREATS
An insulated sheath for holding a freezer bar treat has been developed. The invention includes an elongated sheath that has an interior pocket that holds a freezer bar. The sheath is open on one end so that the freezer bar may be inserted into the interior pocket. The sheath is made of an insulating fleece type material.
The invention relates generally to an insulated sheath for a frozen popsicle.
BACKGROUND ARTFrozen popsicles and similar treats are very popular with children. One type of frozen treat that is especially popular is a fruit flavored juice that is sealed in an elongated plastic sleeve that are typically called “freezer bars”. This treat is typically sold unfrozen with the juice in a liquid form that is sealed in the sleeve. The purchaser then takes the bar and puts it in the freezer and serves it when the juice is frozen. The treat is eaten by cutting off on end of the sleeve and pushing the frozen juice through the opened end so it can he eaten. Examples of these products include: Pop Ice™; Fla-Vor-Ice™; Frootee Ice™; Otter Pops™; Icee Slush Bars™; Wyler's Italian Ices™; etc.
One problem is that the plastic sleeve provides no insulation so that the person eating the freezer bar has to continue the hold the treat while it is quite cold. This is especially a problem for small children who may drop and spill the treat as their hand gets cold instead of continuing to hold the freezer bar. Therefore, it would be an advantage to provide a insulated sheath for a frozen treat that is in an elongated plastic sleeve.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn some aspects, the invention relates to an apparatus for holding a frozen freezer bar, comprising: an elongated sheath that has an interior pocket that is suitable for holding a freezer bar, where the elongated sheath has an open end and a closed end that is sewn shut; and where the sheath is made of an insulating fleece material.
Other aspects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description and the appended claims.
It should be noted that identical features in different drawings are shown with the same reference numeral.
An insulated sheath for holding a frozen freezer bar has been developed. As discussed previously, a “freezer bar” is a frozen popsicle type treat that is a fruit or similar favored juice that is contained in a sealed elongated plastic sleeve. As shown in
The sheath is made of a material that provided insulation against the freezer bar so that the freezer bar can be comfortably held while being eaten. The sheath 10 may be made of “fleece” or other similar materials that provide insulation against cold. Fleece fabric is predominantly made from 100% polyester. However, it can be blended with other materials such as spandex, cotton, wool, and rayon. Other embodiments could use materials with similar characteristics.
While the invention has been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments, those skilled in the art, having benefit of this disclosure, will appreciate that other embodiments can be devised which do not depart from the scope of the invention as disclosed here. Accordingly, the scope of the invention should be limited only by the attached claims.
Claims
1. An apparatus for holding a frozen freezer bar, comprising:
- an elongated sheath that has an interior pocket that is suitable for holding a freezer bar, where the elongated sheath has an open end and a closed end that is sewn shut; and
- where the sheath is made of an insulating fleece material.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, where the elongated sheath is about 7 inches in length and 2 inches in width.
