ALL IN ONE BEDDING SET
An all in one bedding set which includes a combination top and bottom sheet set partially pre-sewn together to make it easier for handicap or otherwise impaired people to place sheets on a mattress as well as a feature to make it easier to place the sheets in combination with a blanket on the mattress. The invention also includes a matching pillow case with two internal compartments or pockets, the second pocket for use in storing items such as folded pajamas. A blanket is also optionally pre-attached to the sheets.
This application claims the benefit of U.S. provisional patent application Ser. No. 61/028,612 filed Feb. 14, 2008.
FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe invention relates to an all in one or complete bedding set with the top and bottom sheets partially pre-sewn to form the all in one set and accordingly makes it easier for handicap or otherwise impaired people to place sheets on a mattress as well as makes it easier to place the sheets in combination with a blanket on the mattress. The invention is also related to the inclusion of a matching pillow case with two internal compartments or pockets, the second pocket for use in storing items such as folded pajamas.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe inventor herein developed the invention to overcome a problem of difficulty in placing sheets and blankets on a bed mattress given a physical impairment due to arthritis and the difficulty in reaching and lifting the mattress to tuck the sheets under the mattress, especially the top sheet and the overlying blanket.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe invention described below may be used not only in homes by handicapped people or non-handicapped people, but is also extremely beneficial for use in nursing homes, hospitals, etc., as there would be a significant time management savings for the staff at these facilities. The invention is also very useful for use in tight quarters such as in recreational vehicles and motor homes or where the beds are bunk beds against a wall. The features of the invention further make it easy for a child to remake his or her own bed unassisted.
The invention effectively takes a top sheet and pre-sews at least one side and the bottom end of the top sheet to the fitted sheet and the placing of the fitted sheet simultaneously also places the top sheet. An optional blanket can also be similarly laid over the top sheet using attachments such as hook and loop fasteners along one side of the formed sheet bedding set and along the bottom end of the bedding so again, the fitted sheet, top sheet and blanket are all capable of being placed on the mattress without the need to make several trips back and forth around the mattress to tuck in the top sheet and blanket.
An example of how to make the invention follows, although it is understood that mass production of the invention may vary from the example that follows.
A pattern is cut and material is laid face to face, sewn together top end, back side, and bottom and then elastic is added to all the edges, which includes the top edge of the bottom sheet. Fasteners such as hook and loop mating portions are then added at predetermined locations for attaching a blanket with the mating fasteners. Button, snaps, and other fastener means know in the art may be substituted for the hook and loop fasteners.
An optional feature of the invention is to provide for a pillow case of matching material to the sheets except that the pillow case is divided into two separate compartments or pockets, one in which the pillow is inserted, the other being for the placement of pajamas. This additional feature is ideal for teaching children to fold and put their pajamas somewhere that provides easy access and provides an incentive for the child to put his or her pajamas away from throwing them on the floor, bureau or at the foot of the bed. Certainly, adults may also benefit from this feature. It simply also allows for a neater bedroom when the bed is properly and neatly made and pajamas are not thrown around.
In the accompanying drawings:
Referring now to the drawings.
Also depicted in
The invention can be made so as to accommodate any size bed mattress by varying the material dimensions to be used in making the invention.
In still another added feature of the invention, sheets typically have matching pillow cases. As depicted in
In an alternative embodiment of the pillowcase 11,
The drawings are merely representative of an example of entry into the combination bedding set from one side. It is understood that depending on the bedroom configuration and if a particular side of a bed is against a wall and the relationship of the head board and foot board to the wall or the relationship of adjoining parallel beds, that the open side of the top sheet may be on either side. Therefore, the combination set of sheets and its blanket will, as desired, be a left side or right side set.
It should be understood that the preceding is merely a detailed description of one or more embodiments of this invention and that numerous changes to the disclosed embodiments can be made in accordance with the disclosure herein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. The preceding description, therefore, is not meant to limit the scope of the invention. Rather, the scope of the invention is to be determined only by the appended claims and their equivalents.
