Basketball training glove

The present invention is an apparatus and method for improving a person's basketball skills, in which wearing at least on glove for a period of time and then removing it results in an increase in hand speed, strength, and reflects, ball control, shooting range, and passing accuracy just to name a few. It is a method of wearing the glove while practicing various fundamental basketball skills then upon removal the very same skills will be executed with more accuracy, speed, strength, distance and control. It includes dorsal and palm portions with finger receptacles. At least one weighted element is applied to the dorsal side of the glove, while at least one touch desensitizing element is applied to locations on the palm side of the glove.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The present invention is a sports training glove. The Glove is a sports training aid used to improve the fundamental basketball skills. When The Glove is worn the palm side of the hand becomes noticeably slippery and difficult to handle. At the same the hands become heavier do to the coexistence of weighted elements on the dorsal side. These aspects cause extra effort, and strength to be used to dribble, shoot, catch, throw, and execute fundamental basketball skills involving the ball. When The Glove is removed it creates quickness and strength in the hands, arms, fingers and a highly responsive level of sensitivity in the palm and fingers to gripping the ball.

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to athletic training glove, more specifically a basketball training glove used to improve and elevate a person's fundamental basketball skills, which will ultimately improve the player's basketball game.

2. Prior Art

The use of athletic training glove in prior art includes U.S. Pat. No. 5,692,242. This prior device does fulfill its objectives however it does not disclose a dynamic basketball training glove such as this present invention. This multi-facet basketball training glove includes a palm and dorsal side, finger and thumb receptacles cooperatively joined together and a wrist portion to fit the wears' hand. The dorsal portion of the glove comprised of weighted elements, and the palm portion receives elements that desensitize the sense of touch. The combination of elements on both dorsal and palm side make this invention exclusive and different from all prior art.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

This invention includes palm and dorsal sides, finger and thumb receptacles cooperatively joined together to fit the wearer's hand, wherein generally comfortable and/or conforming weights are fixed (temporarily and/or permanently) throughout the dorsal side and fingers, while having desensitizing elements fixed on the palm side. It is comprised of at least a palm and dorsal side with finger and thumb receptacles attached. At least one weighted element can be attached, sewn, glued, and secured to the dorsal side and along the dorsal side fingers. The secured weighted elements are operatively used to make to hands heavier and reflects slower when the ball is controlled with the gloved hand. Thus speedy/quick ball control, hand/arm reflects, and ball strength is developed when the glove is worn for a sufficient period of time. Results are noticed upon removal of the glove, as the hands and arms have increased in reflects/speed, quickness and strength in dribbling the ball. “Zip” (speed) is increased while passing the ball, and shoot range is increased upon shooting the ball. This same hand/arm speed, quickness, and strength will be useful in deflecting passes and stealing the ball while playing defense as well.

The second aspect of this dynamic invention is the coexistence of at least one desensitizing element on the immediate palm and palm side finger portions. Any element that cause controlling the ball to become difficult when the glove is worn. Therefore hand sensitivity is developed when the glove is used for a period of time. A heightened sense of touch/control, grip is experienced upon removal of the glove.

As explained above this dynamic combination of elements applied to both the dorsal and the palm side of the same glove causes this present invention to depart considerably from prior conventional concepts and designs of previous art. The results of U.S. Pat. No. 5,692,242 only involve the palm side hand improvement while this present invention provides an apparatus developed primarily for improving multiple aspects of a person's basketball skills which include but is not limited to controlling the basketball. This present invention is far more dynamic generating multiple results in the areas of the palm and dorsal sides of the hand, and in the arms.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

We will take reference to the drawings of FIG. 1 through 2 in describing a basketball training glove embodying the principles and concepts of the invention and generally designated by reference number 15. It must be noted that the present examples in this description should be considered exemplars and not limitations to the apparatus and methods of the present invention.

Referring to figure to FIG. 1, a basketball training glove 15, which is the invention, is comprised of a metacarpal/dorsal side 20, finger sleeves 25, a thumb sleeve 30, a wrist Velcro strap 35 and a palm side 40 (FIG. 2) cooperatively joined together to fit the wear's hand comfortably and securely.

As best illustrated in FIG. 1. it can be shown that the glove 15 has a dorsal side 20, finger sleeves 25, thumb sleeves 30, and a wrist Velcro strap 35. Furthermore it shows small generally comfortable/conforming weights 100 along the finger sleeves 25, as well as along the thumb sleeve 30. These weights are located slightly above and below the bend in the finger as to not completely restrict the usage of the fingers and the thumb. Thus the wearer maintains the ability to utilize these faculties in order to control, shoot, and pass the basketball.

Also illustrated in FIG. 1 is the larger weight 150 located on the dorsal side. This comfortable/conforming weighted is attached below the knuckles as to not restrict the flexibility of the hand.

Lastly illustrated in FIG. 1 is the Velcro strap 35 located at the wrist, which serves as a means to stabilize the glove.

As best illustrated in FIG. 2 it can be shown that glove 15 has a palm side 40, with finger sleeves 25, and a thumb sleeve 30. Palm side 40 has an additional slippery fabric 200 (which desensitizes the sense of touch when worn) on the finger sleeves 25, the thumb sleeve 30 and on the immediate palm portion.

These illustrations show the dynamic effect that the glove will have upon the wearer. Thus results supersede one aspect of the hand. Rather the results experienced from the weights effect hand, finger and arm speed and strength, while simultaneously results are also experienced from the desensitizing portion of the palm side.

Since various modifications will occur by those skilled in the art it is imperative to understand that this invention is not limited to this exact construction and operation as shown and described. Therefore all suitable modifications and equivalents may be encompassed within the scope of this invention.

Claims

1. A training glove that elevates ones fundamental basketball skills, wherein each glove has a hand receptacle and finger receptacles having a palm and dorsal sides; the dorsal side having at least one weighted element, while at least one grip desensitizing element is secured to the palm, that when worn hands become heavier and grip is obviously inhibited/restricted:

Practicing fundamental basketball skills while wearing the glove for a period of time then removing it causes the hands, fingers, and arms to become stronger, faster, and quicker while controlling the basketball, as well as giving the hand better strength, grip, and control over the basketball at the same time.

2. A basketball-training glove as in claim 1, where obviously weighted elements are permanently sewn, glued or fixed anywhere on the dorsal side and/or dorsal finger receptacles of the glove.

3. A basketball training glove as in claim 1 wherein obviously weighted elements can be attached and detached from any area of the dorsal side and/or dorsal finger receptacles of the glove.

4. A basketball training glove as in claim 1 wherein any object or device is connected to the palm side that desensitizes the sense of touch when worn.

5. A basketball training glove as in claim 1, in which the palm side is made of any texture, material, or object that obviously restricts the grip of the basketball.

6. A basketball training glove as in claim 1 wherein any object or device is connected to the palm side and dorsal side in order to increase basketball skills.

7. A basketball training glove as in claim 1, in which the palm side is made of any texture, material, or element that obviously restricts the grip of the basketball.

8. A basketball training glove as in claim 1 wherein the palm side consist permanent or detachable elements restricting the grip of the basketball.

9. A fingerless weighted basketball training glove consisting of a palm and dorsal side with grip restricting elements on the palm side.
