BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONPreviously, persons while seated, have had difficulty in accurately directing the flow of urine into the toilet bowl with the result of urine spray going through the gap between the toilet bowl and the toilet seat. Therefore, urine is deposited on the back of the legs, clothing, underclothing, exterior of the toilet and floor.
The problem has been recognized before and various efforts have been made to provide a mechanism that attaches to a conventional toilet seat or toilet bowl in order to overcome and solve this pre-existing problem.
The difficulty with the prior efforts is the involved nature of the construction of these mechanisms along with the mounting, dismounting and cleaning of said apparatus. The multiple parts and connection areas are magnets for bacteria. Additionally, most prior efforts do not address the seated position on the toilet.
Listed below are patents illustrative of prior art efforts to solve this problem:
The invention relates to toilet seats and more particularly a molded toilet seat with a flange, which acts as a urine shield. The Invention solves previously existing problems with urine spillage while seated on the toilet.
The Invention is a molded toilet seat with a flange in the front portion of the seat projecting into the toilet and blocking the gap between the toilet seat and the toilet bowl. When the toilet seat is in the down position, the flange sits against the inside of the toilet bowl. The flange acts as a diverter and is non-obtrusive and does not require straps, screws, tape, clips or any other mounting hardware. It is a one-piece molded toilet seat. Due to the fact that the Invention is one-piece and molded, there is a much greater control of bacteria. The cleaning is no different than the standard cleaning that is currently utilized. The current material utilitzed for most toilet seats is polypropolene. The Invention can be molded in a variety of materials and colors. Currently, there are two major sizes with approximate dimensions of: Standard size—15½″ by 14 3/16″, and Elongated size—17½″ by 14 3/16″. The Invention can also be utilized for a childs training toilet or an adult porta-potty.
