Valve for paint ball gun

A valve for a paint ball gun includes a case and a movable rod is movably received in the case. The movable rod has a first stop, a second stop and a third sop extending radially therefrom. A first chamber and a second chamber are respectively defined between the first and second stops, and the second and third stops. An inlet is defined through a wall of the case and communicates between the first chamber and a pressurized air source, and an outlet is defined through the wall of the case and communicates between the second chamber and the space in the barrel. The movable rod is moved between first and second positions to seal or introduce pressurized air into the barrel of the gun.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a valve for a paint ball gun which does not need a pressure reducing device.

(2) Description of the Prior Art

A conventional paint ball gun is operated by connecting a pressurized air container which provides pressurized air into the barrel of the paint ball gun and the paint balls are ejected by the high pressure of the pressurized air. However, the pressure in the pressurized air container is so high that may damage the parts of the paint ball gun so that a pressure reducing device is used to properly reduce the pressure before the pressurized air entering the barrel. The conventional pressure reducing device is connected to the paint ball gun and thus increasing the volume of the paint ball gun. Besides, the pressure reducing device involves complicated parts and mechanism which increases cost of maintenance and assembly.

During the pressure reducing process, a significant pressure is lost and the chamber in the barrel for storing the pressurized air requires a certain space which increases the size of the paint ball gun.

The present invention intends to provide a valve for a paint ball gun and the valve includes a simple structure such that the paint ball gun does not need an extra pressure reducing device.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a valve of a paint ball gun and the valve comprises a case and a movable rod is movably received in the case. The movable rod has a first stop, a second stop and a third sop extending radially therefrom. A first chamber is defined between the first and second stops, and a second chamber is defined between the second and third stops. An inlet is defined through a wall of the case and communicates between the first chamber and a pressurized air source, and an outlet is defined through the wall of the case and communicates between the second chamber and the space in the barrel. When the movable rod is moved to a first position, the first and second chambers are isolated from each other. When the movable rod is moved to a second position, the first and second chambers are in communication with each other.

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a valve for a paint ball gun and the valve includes a simple structure and controls the pressurized air into the barrel.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a valve for a paint ball gun wherein there is no extra pressure reducing device needed.

The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 1 is an exploded view to show the valve of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view to show that the movable rod is moved to a first position;

FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view to show that the movable rod is moved to a second position, and

FIG. 4 shows that the valve is installed to a paint ball gun.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 4, the paint ball gun cooperated with the valve 10 of the present invention comprises a barrel with a handle connected thereto and the valve 10 is located beneath the barrel. A strike rod and a push member are located in a space in the barrel, the strike rod and the push member are known to persons in the art and will not be described in detail.

The valve 10 includes a case which has a front opening and a rear opening, the front opening includes a first threaded inner periphery 101 and the rear opening includes a second threaded inner periphery 102. A movable rod is movably received in the case. The movable rod is composed of a first part 201 and a second part 202. A first stop 21 is located at a first end of the first part 201 and a second stop 22 is located at a mediate portion of the first part 201. A threaded section is formed at a second end of the first part 201. The second part 202 includes a third stop 23 and a threaded recess at a first end thereof, the threaded section of the first part 201 is threadedly connected with the threaded recess of the second part 202. The first stop 21, the second stop 22 and the third sop 23 extend radially from the first and second part 201, 202 respectively. A front cap 11 is threadedly connected to the first threaded inner periphery 101 of the front end of the case and a spring 17 is biased axially between the front cap 11 and the first stop 21. A rear cap 12 is threadeldy connected to the second threaded inner periphery 102 of the rear end of the case and a second end of the second part 202 movably extends through the rear cap 12.

A first chamber 30 is defined between the first and second stops 21, 22 in the case and an inlet 13 is defined through a wall of the case and communicating between the first chamber 30 and a pressurized air source that is connected to the barrel. A second chamber 31 is defined between the second and third stops 22, 23 in the case and an outlet 14 is defined through the wall of the case and communicates between the second chamber 31 and the space in the barrel. The case has a flange 15 extending inward from an inner periphery thereof and located between the inlet 13 and the outlet 14. A seal 16 is located in the case and attached to a side of the flange 15.

As shown in FIG. 2, the second stop 22 is in contact with the seal 16 on the flange 15 when the movable rod is located at a first position where the first and second chambers 30, 31 are isolated from each other. The pressurized air is filled in the first chamber 31 and applies a force to the first stop 21 and another force to the second stop 22. Because the two respective end surfaces of the first and second stops 21, 22 are the same, so that the two forces are equal but in opposite directions. Therefore, the movable rod can be moved by a force that is larger than the force of the spring 17.

As shown in FIG. 3, when applying a force to compress the spring 17, the movable rod is moved to a second position, where the third stop 23 is in contact with the flange 15 and the first and second chambers 30, 31 are in communication with each other. The pressurized air flows into the space in the barrel to push the strike rod via the second chamber 31 and the outlet 14. After shooting, the spring 17 pushes the movable rod back to its original position and the air retained in the second chamber 31 escapes from a release hole 18 defined through the wall of the case and communicates with the second chamber 31.

It is noted that the end surface of the first stop 21 can be 80% to 100% of an end surface of the second stop 22, or the end surface of the second stop 22 is 80% to 100% of an end surface of the first stop 21.

While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A paint ball gun comprising:

a barrel with a handle connected thereto and a valve located beneath the barrel, a strike rod and a push member located in a space in the barrel, the valve including a case and a movable rod which is movably received in the case, the movable rod having a first stop, a second stop and a third stop extending radially therefrom, a first chamber defined between the first and second stops, an inlet defined through a wall of the case and communicating between the first chamber and a pressurized air source, a second chamber defined between the second and third stops, an outlet defined through the wall of the case and communicating between the second chamber and the space in the barrel, the case having a flange extending inward from an inner periphery thereof and located between the inlet and the outlet, the second stop being in contact with the flange when the movable rod is located at a first position where the first and second chambers are isolated from each other, the third stop being in contact with the flange when the movable rod is located at a second position where the first and second chambers are in communication with each other;
wherein a release hole is defined through the wall of the case and communicates with the second chamber as the movable rod is at the first position, and the release hole is isolated from the second chamber as the movable rod is at the second position.

2. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein an end surface of the first stop is the same as an end surface of the second stop.

3. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein an end surface of the first stop is 80% to 100% of an end surface of the second stop.

4. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein an end surface of the second stop is 80% to 100% of an end surface of the first stop.

5. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein a spring applies a force axially to the first stop toward the second stop.

6. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 5, wherein a front cap is connected to a front end of the case and the spring is biased between the front cap and the first stop.

The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 1, wherein the movable rod is composed of a first part and a second part, the first stop is located at a first end of the first part and the second stop is located at a mediate portion of the first part, a threaded section is formed at a second end of the first part, the second part includes the third stop at a first end thereof and a threaded recess with which the threaded section is engaged.

9. The paint ball gun as claimed in claim 8, wherein a rear cap is connected to a rear end of the case and a second end of the second part movable extends through the rear cap.
