A method for air removal from a water-closet bowl consisting in the directing of the air from the water-closet bowl to a vertical ventilation duct where partial vacuum is generated under any weather conditions A device for air removal from a water-closet bowl whose toilet seat (4) has a passage (8) with slots (10) in its internal wall, and moreover two coaxial flange tubes (5) are connected to the said passage (8), upon which a seat cover (3) and a toilet seat (4) are mounted pivotally, and one of the said flange tubes (5) is connected to one end of a piping (11), and the other end of the said piping (11) is coupled with the vertical ventilation duct (1) which is laid out along the waste riser (24) and the outlets of the duct branches are in the vicinity of the water-closet bowl (2), and furthermore a cowl (12) with a head (13) which terminates with a broadening cone and an air louver (14) is installed upon the roof outlet of the vertical ventilation duct (1).

Description

This invention relates to a method for air removal from a water-closet bowl and a device for air removal from a water-closet bowl, which can be used in sanitation rooms where water-closet bowls are installed.

A toilet ventilation system is known, as stated in the Polish patent application No. 361214, consisting in connection of a water-closet unit (comprising a water-closet bowl with a water supply channel or pipe for flushing the inside of the water-closet bowl, and a toilet flush unit) with the space on the outside of the room by means of a ventilation duct, in which the said unit is installed. The ventilation duct can be connected to a special opening in the water-closet bowl or to an opening under the toilet flush unit bottom or to the pipe supplying water from the toilet flush unit into the bowl. Such connection of the ventilation duct makes the contaminated air to be sucked out from the water-closet bowl avoiding its spreading outside the bowl.

A toilet seat unit is known, as stated in the Polish patent application No. 328361, comprising a toilet cover and a toilet seat, which are connected by an external wall situated of the outer edge side of the toilet seat unit. The toilet cover comprises an apron which forms a ventilation gap together with the hole outer edge of the toilet seat. According to the variation of the invention the toilet seat unit comprises a toilet cover and a toilet seat connected by an external wall situated of the outer edge side of the toilet seat unit and an internal wall situated of the hole outer edge side of the toilet seat0. There are ventilation openings which are carried out in the internal wall. In both options there is at least one sucking-off opening in the rear part of the toilet seat unit used to connect the space between both parts of the toilet seat unit with the suction line of the suction device.

A water-closet bowl ventilation system is known, as stated in the Polish patent application No. 336826, in which an air curtain at a level of the toilet seat of the water-closet bowl is created by forced air flow drawn from the room where the water-closet bowl is installed by means of ventilation ducts located upon the outer edge of the water-closet bowl and/or in the toilet seat unit, and then directed to any external ventilation duct by means of a discharge duct.

The method, according to the invention, for self-acting air removal from a water-closet bowl to the atmosphere utilizing gravity ventilation, consists in air removal from a water-closet bowl via vertical ventilation duct where partial vacuum is generated under any weather conditions.

The method, according to the invention, is simpler for implementation and utilization than the methods in which artificial draught is generated by means of fans and suction pumps.

The device for air removal from a water-closet bowl according to the invention is executed in such a way that a toilet seat has a passage with slots in its internal wall, and moreover two coaxial flange tubes are connected to the said passage, upon which a seat cover and a toilet seat are mounted pivotally, and one of the said flange tubes is connected to one end of the piping, and the other end of the said piping is coupled with the vertical ventilation duct which is laid out along the waste riser and the outlets of the duct branches are in the vicinity of water-closet bowls, and furthermore a cowl with a head which terminates with a broadening cone and an air louver is installed upon the roof outlet of the vertical ventilation duct. The other execution option of the device for air removal from a water-closet bowl according to the invention is executed in such a way that a toilet seat has a passage with slots in its internal wall, and moreover two coaxial flange tubes are connected to the said passage, upon which a seat cover and a toilet seat are mounted pivotally, and one of the said flange tubes is connected to one end of the piping, and the other end of the said piping is coupled with the vertical ventilation duct which is put into the existing ventilation duct and branches into ventilation grilles, and furthermore a cowl with a head which terminates with a broadening cone and an air louver is installed upon the roof outlet of the vertical ventilation duct, and the endmost section of the vertical ventilation duct in its upper part is installed to the chimney by means of a support with openings.

It is an advantage of the device according to the invention to prevent contaminated air escape from the sewerage system due to application of a separate air-tight vertical ventilation duct and utilization of the natural draught resulting in that that no mechanical ventilation devices are necessary. The cowl used at the roof outlet of the vertical ventilation duct prevents the air from the returning to sanitation rooms under bad weather conditions.

The device according to the invention is presented in the illustration as an exemplary execution, in which FIG. 1 shows a two-storey vertical ventilation duct section in the first option of the device execution, FIG. 2 shows a single-storey vertical ventilation duct section in the other option of the device, FIG. 3 shows a bottom half-view of the toilet seat with the toilet cover closed and its half-section in the horizontal plane connected with the vertical ventilation duct by the piping and FIG. 4 shows a cross-section of the toilet seat unit by the symmetry plane.

The device according to the invention has a separate vertical ventilation duct 1 a water-closet bowl 2 and a toilet seat unit comprising a toilet cover _ a toilet seat A two flange tubes A two fastening clamps 6 and a plug 7. A passage 8 is formed in the toilet seat 4 and concealed with a cover 9 which is fitted out with slots 10 in its internal wall. The flange tube 5 is connected with the vertical ventilation duct 1 by means of a piping 11 which has a cowl 12 with a head 13 terminated with a cone and an air louver 14. The vertical ventilation duct 1 is located in duct 15 cast into the wall next to the vertical ventilation duct 24. The section of the vertical ventilation duct 1 situated inside the duct 15 is made from pipes and three-way pipes. The duct 15 is covered from the top with a support 16 which unloads mechanically the lower part of the vertical ventilation duct 1. Over the support 16 there is a raising pipe 17 and a cowl 12 with a head 13 and an air louver 14. The support 16 is fixed to the chimney 18 with damps, and the cowl 12 is held in vertical position by flexible connectors 19.

The device in the other execution option has a separate vertical ventilation duct 1, a water-closet bowl 2 and a toilet seat unit comprising a toilet cover 3, a toilet seat 4, two flange tubes 5, two fastening clamps 6 and a plug Z. A passage 8 is formed in the toilet seat 4 and concealed with a cover 9 which is fitted out with slots 10 in its internal wall. The flange tube 5 is connected with the vertical ventilation duct 1 by means of a piping 11 which has a cowl 12 with a head 13 terminated with a cone and an air louver 14. The vertical ventilation duct 1 is located in the ventilation duct 21 which vents the sanitation room The section of the vertical ventilation duct 1 situated inside the duct 21 is made from pipes and three-way pipes. The duct 21 is covered from the top with a support 22 which has four openings 23 making sanitation room ventilation possible to continue. Over the support 22 there is a raising pipe 17 and a cowl 12 with a head 13 and an air louver 14. The support 22 is fixed to the chimney 18 with clamps, and the cowl 12 is held in vertical position by four flexible connectors 19.

Claims

1. A method of air removal from a water-closet bowl to the atmosphere through a vertical ventilation pipe, characterized in that gravitational suction generated in vertical ventilation pipe (1) is enhanced by aerodynamic suction generated in a cowl (12) fitted out with a head (13) adjusting its position relatively to the direction of flow of external air by means of a guide wing and preventing from the air reversal flow by means of an air louver (14).

2. The method according to claim 1, where vertical ventilation pipe (1) is placed along a waste riser (24).

3. The method according to claim 2, where vertical ventilation pipe (1) is to be placed in newly constructed building.

The method according to claim 1, where vertical ventilation pipe (1) is placed in a ventilation duct (21), and where the upper end of a piping (11) passes through a ventilation grille (20) of the ventilation duct (21), and the upper end of vertical ventilation pipe (1) is installed upon the outlet of the ventilation duct (21) by means of a support (22) with the openings (23).

5. The method according to claim 4, where vertical ventilation pipe (1) is to be placed in existing buildings.

6. An apparatus for air removal from a water-closet bowl comprising a toilet seat with a cover and a piping joining the toilet seat to vertical ventilation pipe, characterized in that vertical ventilation pipe (1) is supplied at its upper end with the cowl (12) fitted out with the head (13) adjusting its position relatively to the direction of flow of external air by means of the guide wing and preventing from the air reversal flow by means of the air louver (14).

The apparatus according to claim 6, where two separated flanged pipes (5) are coaxially installed in the rear of a toilet seat (4) and a toilet cover (3), and which are fastened to the water-closet bowl (2) thus defining an axis of rotation for the toilet seat (4) and the toilet cover (3), and which communicate at one end with a passage (8) and at the other end with the piping (11).

8. The apparatus according to claim 7, where the passage (8) is shaped at lower side of the toilet seat (4) and is closed by a cover (9) which has side walls facing the side walls of the passage (8).

The apparatus according to claim 8, where the recesses (10) in the side walls of the passage (8) and in the side walls of the cover (9) enable the air to be sucked from the interior of the water-closet bowl (2) through the passage (8), flanged pipes (5), the piping (11) and vertical ventilation pipe (1) and further exhausted through the cowl (12) fitted out with a head (13) which terminates with a broadening cone and an air louver (14).

10. The apparatus according to claim 6, where vertical ventilation pipe (1) is placed in the ventilation duct (21), and where the upper end of the piping (11) passes through the ventilation grille (20) of the ventilation duct (21), and the upper end of vertical ventilation pipe (1) is installed upon the outlet of the ventilation duct (21) by means of the support (22) with the openings (23).
