Foldable beach chair

Abstract

A foldable chair having a foldable frame and a soft cover attached on the foldable frame. The frame has a pair of curved front legs and a pair of curved rear legs, which gives the chair a stronger structure. The beach chair has only two sleeves, which decreases a friction between the sleeves and the tubes and which is able to make the operation of folding and expanding of the chair smoother.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to a foldable beach chair, and more particularly, to a foldable beach chair which has a small storage volume but strong structure, and which has few slidable means thus being able to be folded and expanded smoothly.

2. Description of the Prior Art

A foldable chair is disclosed in a U.S. patent application Ser. No. 12,007,612. As most of the conventional foldable chairs, the chair has straight legs. A drawback of these foldable chairs is that their legs are not strong enough since the straight structure. Furthermore, the aforementioned foldable chair has too many slidable means which is made up of a sleeve and a tube contained therein. The slidable means makes an operation of folding and expanding of the chair not smooth enough.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main object of the invention is to provide a foldable beach chair which is able to be folded into a small storage volume and has a strong structure.

Another object of the invention is to provide a foldable beach chair which is able to be folded into a small storage volume and has fewer slidable means thus having a smoother operation of folding and expanding.

In order to accomplish the above objects, the present invention provides a foldable beach chair having a frame and a soft cover attached on the frame. The soft cover has a backrest portion and a seat portion. The frame has a pair of main bars an upper end of each of which is for attaching the backrest portion of the soft cover, a pair of curved rear legs respectively pivotally connected to the main bars at about a middle of the main bars, a pair of curved front legs a lower end of each of which is pivotally connected to a lower end of the main bar, a pair of sleeves respectively slidably covering on the main bars, a pair of armrests respective pivotally connected to one of the sleeves at an upper end thereof and pivotally connected to a top end of each of the front legs at a lower end thereof, a pair of front scissored bars lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the front legs and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to a top end of each the rear legs, a pair of rear scissored bars lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the rear legs and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the sleeves, and two supporters respectively fixed to the top end of each the front leg.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Shown in FIG. 1 is the preferred embodiment of the foldable beach chair. The foldable beach chair has a frame 1 and a soft cover 2 attached on the frame 1. The soft cover 2 has a backrest portion 21 and a seat portion 22. With reference to FIG. 2, in which the soft cover 2 is removed, the frame 1 has a pair of main bars 10a, 10b, an upper end of each of which is for attaching the backrest portion 21 of the soft cover 2, a pair of curved rear legs 11a, 11b respectively pivotally connected to the main bars 10a, 10b at about a middle of the main bars 10a, 10b, a pair of curved front legs 12a, 12b a lower end of each of which is pivotally connected to the lower end of the main bar 10a, 10b, a pair of sleeves 13a, 13b respectively slidably covering on the main bars 10a, 10b, a pair of armrests 14a, 14b respective pivotally connected to the sleeve 13a, 13b at an upper end thereof and pivotally connected to a top end of the front legs 12a, 12b at a lower end thereof, a pair of front scissored bars 15a, 15b lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the front legs 12a, 12b and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to a top end of each rear legs 11a, 11b, a pair of rear scissored bars 16a, 16b lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the rear legs 11a, 11b and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to the sleeves 13a, 13b, and two supporters 17a, 17b respectively fixed to the top end of each front leg 12a, 12b.

In expanding of the foldable beach chair of the invention, a user is able to grasp the top end of one main bar 10a or 10b with one hand and a front end of one rear leg 11a or 11b with the other hand and then pulls them apart. The sleeves 13a, 13b then go respectively along the main bars 10a, 10b downwardly and top ends of the rear scissored bars 16a, 16b departure with each other. The user is able to keep pulling until the front end of each rear leg 11a or 11b meets the supporter 17a or 17b and is stopped thereby. A reverse action of pushing the top end of one main bar 10a or 10b with one hand and the front end of one rear leg 11a or 11b towards each other is able to fold the chair for storage.

The armrests 14a, 14b can be curved to make a pleasure placing of arms and obtain a stronger structure. Four rollers 17 may be respectively installed at lower ends of the main bars 10a, 10b and the rear legs 11a, 11b. More particularly with reference to FIG. 3, it could be seen that the front legs 12a, 12b and the rear legs 11a, 11b, which bear a weight sitting on the foldable beach chair, are curved and thus having a stronger structure than straight legs and being able to bear more weight. Furthermore, compared with the conventional foldable chair, the beach chair of the invention has only two sleeves, which decreases a friction between the sleeves and the tubes and which is able to make the operation of folding and expanding of the chair smoother.

From above description, it is seen that the objects of the present invention have been fully and effectively accomplished. Embodiment of the invention has been shown and described for the purposes of illustrating the functional and structural principles of the present invention and is subject to change without departure from the invention's principles. Therefore, this invention includes all modifications encompassed within the spirit and scope of the following claims.

Claims

1. A foldable beach chair comprising a frame and a soft cover attached on said frame, said soft cover having a backrest portion and a seat portion, said frame having a pair of main bars an upper end of each of which is for attaching said backrest portion of said soft cover, a pair of curved rear legs respectively pivotally connected to said main bars at about a middle of said main bars, a pair of curved front legs a lower end of each of which is pivotally connected to a lower end of said main bar, a pair of sleeves respectively slidably covering on said main bars, a pair of armrests respective pivotally connected to one of said sleeves at an upper end thereof and pivotally connected to a top end of each of said front legs at a lower end thereof, a pair of front scissored bars lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to said front legs and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to a top end of each said rear legs, a pair of rear scissored bars lower ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to said rear legs and upper ends thereof being respectively pivotally connected to said sleeves, and two supporters respectively fixed to said top end of each said front leg.

2. The foldable beach chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein said armrests are curved.

3. The foldable beach chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein four rollers are respectively installed at lower ends of said main bars and said rear legs.
