BLACK LIGHT BOARD GAME
A board game 100 comprising an enclosure 110 wherein one portion of the enclosure 110 includes a panel 114 wherein the panel 114 further includes a board game design 120 with the panel 114; a means for black light illumination 140; and a means for providing substantially even illumination 150 from the means for black light illumination for the panel 114 with the board game design 120.
The present invention generally relates to board games and more specifically to an apparatus for board games with lighting for aesthetics and for playing at night.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTIONIt has been popular for many years to play backgammon, chess, and checkers upon boards of various kinds having a set of alternately differently colored squares, either printed, or of an inlaid nature, some of which are of a very elaborate and expensive nature. Boards of this type are used by employing external illumination provided either by daylight or an artificial source. A board game with internally illuminated playing board was attempted in U.S. Pat. No. 3,802,708.
A board game is needed that provides an even well lit board game with unique illumination for games and visual capability and visual effects.
SUMMARYOne embodiment includes a board game comprising an enclosure wherein one portion of the enclosure comprises a panel wherein the panel comprises a board game design on the panel; a means for black light illumination; and a means for providing substantially even illumination from the means for black light illumination for the panel with the board game design.
The features, aspects, and advantages of the invention will become better understood with regard to the following description, appended claims, and accompanying drawings where:
The present invention relates to the field of board games and more specifically to an apparatus for board games with lighting for aesthetics and for playing at night. Claims
1. A board game comprising:
- an enclosure wherein one portion of the enclosure comprises a translucent panel wherein the translucent panel comprises a board game design with the translucent panel;
- an illumination source wherein the illumination source comprises a black light source for illuminating the board game design; and
- a mirror disposed within the enclosure for providing more even illumination from the illumination source for the translucent panel with the board game design.
2. The board game as set forth in claim 1, wherein the mirror is disposed opposing the translucent panel such that the illumination from the illumination source is reflected more evenly through the translucent panel.
3. The board game as set forth in claim 1, wherein the illumination source is a substantially rectangular tube shaped illumination source disposed within the enclosure.
4. The board game as set forth in claim 1, wherein the illumination source is two tube shaped black lights disposed within the enclosure in parallel.
5. The board game as set forth in claim 4, wherein the mirror is a plane shaped mirror disposed opposing the translucent panel such that the illumination from the illumination source is reflected more evenly through the translucent panel; and wherein a second plane shaped mirror is disposed with a side portion of the enclosure; and wherein a third plane shaped mirror is disposed with a second side portion of the enclosure opposing the first side portion.
6. The board game as set forth in claim 5, wherein the illumination source further comprises an electrical supply line that connects with a source of electrical current and wherein the enclosure further comprises legs attached with the enclosure.
7. The board game as set forth in claim 2, wherein the mirror is a plane shaped mirror.
8. The board game as set forth in claim 1, in combination with at least one game piece for use on the board game.
9. The board game as set forth in claim 8, wherein a portion of the at least one game piece is etched.
10. The board game according to claim 8, wherein a portion of the at least one game piece is painted such that the painted game pieces will be visible when exposed to the black light source.
11. A board game comprising:
- an enclosure wherein one portion of the enclosure comprises a panel wherein the panel comprises a board game design on the panel;
- a means for black light illumination disposed with the enclosure; and
- a means for providing substantially even illumination from the means for black light illumination for the panel with the board game design wherein the means for providing substantially even illumination is disposed with the means for black light illumination.
12. The board game as set forth in claim 11, wherein the means for providing substantially even illumination is a flat mirror disposed within the enclosure below the panel such that the illumination from the means for black light illumination is reflected substantially even through the panel.
13. The board game as set forth in claim 12, wherein the means for black light illumination is at least two tube shaped lights disposed within the enclosure in parallel.
14. The board game as set forth in claim 13, wherein the board game further comprises legs attached with the enclosure and wherein the means for black light illumination further comprises an electrical supply line that connects with a source of electrical energy.
15. The board game as set forth in claim 14, in combination with game pieces for use on the board game wherein a portion of the game pieces are painted such that the painted game pieces will be visible when exposed to the means for black light illumination and will produce a three dimension glow-in-the-dark effect.
16. The board game as set forth in claim 11, in combination with game pieces for use on the board game.
17. The board game as set forth in claim 16, wherein a portion of the game pieces are etched.
