Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention is based on a method according to the preamble to the first claim.

PRIOR ART

When old floor coverings are due to be replaced by new ones, the old floor coverings are previously torn out and the floor is smoothed to remove remnants of adhesive. After this, the floor must be cleaned to enable a new adhesive layer to adhere to the floor. Following application of the new adhesive, the new floor covering is applied to the floor. This is a very elaborate and labour-intensive process.

REPRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION

The object of the invention is to simplify the application of a new floor covering with a method of the type stated above.

According to the invention, this is achieved by the features of the first claim.

The core of the invention is therefore that slits are made in the old floor covering, that adhesive is introduced into the slits, that the new floor covering is applied and that the new floor covering is bonded to the floor.

The advantages of the invention can be seen, inter alia, in the fact that a simple and cost-effective method is provided. In the method according to the invention, for instance, the old floor covering does not have to be removed and disposed of, nor does it have to be cleaned and, if need be, pre-treated/primed, so that work steps are eliminated. The new floor covering can also be applied without difficulty to dirty floor coverings. Particularly when the old floor covering is soft, the use of additional impact-sound-insulating mats is able to be dispensed with.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention emerge from the dependent claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

Illustrative embodiments of the invention are explained in greater detail below with reference to the drawings. Same elements are provided in the various figures with the same reference symbols.

FIG. 1 shows a partial cross section through a floor having slits according to the invention;

FIG. 2 shows a partial cross section through a floor having slits according to the invention and adhesive arranged therein;

FIG. 3 shows a partial cross section through a floor having floor covering fitted according to the invention;

FIG. 4 shows a partial cross section through a floor having floor covering fitted according to the invention and additional matting.

Only those elements which are essential to a direct understanding of the invention are shown.

WAY TO IMPLEMENT THE INVENTION

In FIG. 1, a floor 1, in particular a concrete floor, provided with a floor covering 2, is represented. The floor covering can be a carpet, a plastics flooring, such as, for example, a PVC flooring, a tiled flooring, a parquet flooring, a cast plastics flooring, etc. The floor covering 2 is connected to the floor 1, for example with an adhesive layer 3. This adhesive layer can be realized, in principle, according to choice and secures the floor covering to the floor. The adhesive layer can be a plastics adhesive, but also a mortar, for example in a tiled flooring, though the adhesive layer can also be dispensed with, when, for example, a cast plastics flooring is used. If need be, a primer can also be used.

In the floor covering 2, and, if need be, in the adhesive layer 3, slits 4 are now made. This can be done manually with a knife, with a machine having special blades, with a milling cutter, etc. The slits are advantageously made such that the floor 1 is exposed, in particular the surface of the floor can be slightly eroded. Such slits are made, for example, at a distance of 5 to 10 cm apart and are 1 to 2 cm wide.

In accordance with FIG. 2, adhesive 5 is now introduced into the slits 4, so that the adhesive 5 protrudes at least slightly over the surface of the floor covering. The bead of adhesive can here exhibit different shapes, such as a triangular shape, etc., and can be tailored to the desired bonding result.

After this, the new floor covering 6 is placed in accordance with FIG. 3 onto the surface of the old floor covering 2 and the adhesive 5 and is connected to the floor 1 by means of the adhesive 5. The new floor covering 6 can be a carpet, a plastics flooring, such as, for example, a PVC flooring, a parquet flooring, etc. In the laying of the new floor covering, therefore, no additional mats, for example for impact sound insulation, are required.

As the adhesive, any chosen adhesive can be used which is suited respectively to the floor 1 and to the new floor covering 6. A particularly advantageous adhesive is SikaBond®-T52, SikaBond®-T52 FC, SikaBond®-T53, SikaBond®AT-84.

According to FIG. 4, a slitted mat 7 can also, of course, additionally be placed onto the old floor covering 2. This is advantageous, in particular, when the old floor covering has a hard structure, for example in the case of a tiled or parquet flooring. The slits of the mat 7 and the slits 4 made in the old floor covering then lie one above the other, the mat advantageously being laid before the adhesive is introduced into the slits.

Naturally, the invention is not limited to the shown and described illustrative embodiment. The present method can be used on all types of floors, old floor coverings and new floor coverings.
