Sock with enlarged toe box

The embodiments include a sock that is able to keep the toe box of a shoe from creasing through the utilization of an enlarged toe section of the sock. The toe section may be enlarged by the addition of more material in the toe box area. The material may be the same as the rest of the sock. Additionally the toe box may be enlarged by adding a padded area to the toe box and securing the padded area by a means of attachment. In either embodiment the sock can vary as any other sock known to one skilled in the art except that the toe section is enlarged or a toe padding may be added to the toe box section so that any type of shoe can be kept from creasing in the toe area.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

The following figures are not drawn to scale and are for illustrative purposes only.

FIG. 1 is a view of a sock with an enlarged toe box.

FIG. 2 is another view of a sock with an enlarged toe box.

FIG. 3 is another view of a sock with an enlarged toe box.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

A first embodiment can be a sock able to keep the toe box of a shoe from creasing comprising a top section 101, a heel section 102, and an enlarged toe section 103 wherein all sections are comprised of one or more fibrous materials and all sections are connected to each other by one or more fibrous materials 104. In this embodiment the dorsal side of the toe of the sock can be enlarged with the enlargement extending around the dorsal side in order to fill the entire toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe section 103 of the sock is flexible and bendable to add comfort for the wearer. The top section may further be ribbed. The ribbed top section 101 may vary from a single row of one or more elastic materials or a blend including one or more elastics and non-elastic materials to extending ribbed top section to the heel of the sock and varying lengths in between as the manufacturer desires. The embodiment may be further comprised of one or more of the following stitching types; a rib stitch, a stockinet, a circular knit, or a terry knit stitch. In addition the embodiment may contain spandex panels in either isolated areas such as the heel or comprising any percentage of the sock up to 100%. The toe section 105 and/or heel section 102 of this embodiment may be reinforced with a reinforced area extending up to about 4″ up from the bottom of the of sock and/or extending down from the bottom of the sock. In this application reinforcement means additions to the embodiment to prolong wear such as the addition of a strong fiber such as nylon or linen and/or additional knits are performed in comparison to other areas. The enlarged toe section 103 can vary in size in order for the enlarged toe section to fill the entire toe box of any athletic, casual, or any other type of shoe. Therefore the enlarged toe section 103 may extend an effective length from the toe of the sock 105 towards the heel 102. The length can be from about an inch to about 5 inches in length or a length effective for filling the length of a toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe section 103 may also extend an effective width which can extend from about 3 inches to 5 inches or the width effective for filling the width of the toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe section 103 may also extend an effective height extending up to about 5 inches or a height effective for filling the height of a toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe section 103 can vary in length, width, and height depending on the size of the toe box of a shoe. One skilled in the art can manipulate the variations for any shoe without difficulties or experimentation.

Another embodiment can be a sock wherein the sock is able to keep the toe box of a shoe from creasing comprising one or more fibrous materials connecting a top section 101, a heel section 102, a toe section 105, and a padded area 103 added to the toe section on the dorsal side of the sock so that the toe area of the sock fills the entire toe box of a shoe wherein said top section, heel section, toe section, and padded area are further comprised of one or more fibrous materials. The padded area may be secured by a means of attachment such as a stitch, hook and loop fasteners, the creation of a pocket in the toe section of the sock capable of holding the padded area, or any means of attachment known to one skilled within the art. The padded area of the toe section of the sock 103 is flexible and bendable to add comfort for the wearer. Further, the top section may be ribbed. The ribbed top section 102 may vary from a single row of elastic material or a blend including elastics to extending the elastic material or blend to the heel of the sock and varying lengths in between as the manufacturer desires. The embodiment may be further comprised of one or more of the following stitching types; a rib stitch, a stockinet, a circular knit, or a terry knit stitch. In addition the embodiment may contain spandex panels in either isolated areas such as the heel or comprising any percentage of the sock up to 100%. The toe section 105 and/or heel section 102 of this embodiment may be reinforced with the heel having a reinforced area extending about 4″ from the bottom of the heel of sock. In this application reinforcement means additions to the embodiment to prolong wear such as the addition of a strong fiber such as nylon or linen and/or additional knits are performed in comparison to other areas. The enlarged toe padding 103 can vary in size in order for the enlarged toe padding to fill the entire toe box of any athletic, casual, or any other type of shoe. Therefore the enlarged toe padding 103 may extend an effective length from the toe 105 of the sock towards the heel 102. The length can be from about an inch to about 5 inches in length or a length effective for filling the length of a toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe padding 103 may also extend an effective width which can extend from about 3 inches to 5 inches or the width effective for filling the width of the toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe padding 103 may also extend an effective height extending up to about 5 inches or a height effective for filling the height of a toe box of a shoe. The enlarged toe padding 103 can vary in length, width, and height depending on the size of the toe box of a shoe. One skilled in the art can manipulate the variations for any shoe without difficulties or experimentation.

Any of the above embodiments may be comprised of one or more of the following fibrous materials; cotton, nylon, spandex, polyester, wool, acrylic fibers, olefin, silk, linen, cashmere, mohair, rubber, elastin, and other stretch fibers. In addition, the above embodiments may have one or more dyes and/or patterns on the sock. The embodiments may also contain one or more finishing agents such as antistatic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-odor finishing agents. The length of the sock may vary from quarter, ankle, crew, over the calf, to knee sock or any length in between. Additionally the sock with an enlarged toe box 103 or with enlarged toe padding 103 may be used in any type of sock such as athletic, dress, casual, support socks, or any other type of sock known to one skilled in the art.

These terms and specifications, including the examples, serve to describe the invention by example and not to limit the invention. It is expected that others will perceive differences, which, while differing from the forgoing, do not depart from the scope of the invention herein described and claimed. In particular, any of the function elements described herein may be replaced by any other known element having an equivalent function.
