Liquid squirting umbrella apparatus

A novel water discharging apparatus contains conventional umbrella functions including stretchers, a canopy, and a runner attached to a hollow shaft. The hollow shaft member contains a pipe to transfer liquids from a deformable squeeze bottle handle member which serves as a reservoir for liquid materials. Liquids are held by a hermetic junction between a lid member for capping and a squeeze bottle handle enabling manual deformation and collapsing abilities of the squeeze bottle handle to emit liquids out a spherical discharging means with multiple perforations means which is connected to the hollow shaft.

BACKGROUND

Novelty umbrellas are known in the art, as are umbrellas with a means for emitting water or other fluids.

E.U Pat. No. 1568292A1 to Wang discloses a water ejectable umbrella comprising a water drawing function. Although this invention serves as an ordinary umbrella and ejects water for a spout at the upper end of a stem by performing a liquid drawing stroke, it is incapable of holding a quantity of liquid for multiple sprays through multiple perforations.

U.S. Pat. No. 2,941,695 to Rich discloses a toy umbrella intended for ordinary use and for discharging materials to give the effect of rain, snow or bubbles. Although this invention discharges a liquid material it requires jointly tasking receptacles of air and water to function and also requires a user to manipulate a controller at the top of the umbrella before it can perform a function.

Therefore, there is a need for a water squirting novelty umbrella that can eject multiple sprays of water, and which requires no preparation before functioning aside from filling the removable reservoir. A further object of the present invention is to provide a water squirting umbrella comprised of a spherical water discharging means with perforations disposed across the top hemisphere. These and other objects of the present invention will be further described in the appended summary, description and claims.

SUMMARY

The present invention comprises a liquid squirting umbrella apparatus. The apparatus comprises a handle for holding water, further comprised of a squeeze-bottle device. A lid for capping the handle comprises a hermetical point of connection. The apparatus comprises a handle made of a deformable yet resilient material in a cylindrical shape, wherein a user causes the liquid contents to flow through a shaft by squeezing or manually collapsing the handle. The shaft comprises a water tight configuration with a portal in the lid.

The handle comprises a hermetic junction between the handle and the lid. The volume of the handle comprises a volume permitting at least two water discharges each time a user squeezes the handle. The shaft comprises a hollow cylindrical member to hold a pipe in place by static pressure for transferring water out of the handle. The pipe extends from one extreme end of the shaft, disposed through the lid, to the other extreme end of the shaft disposed at the top of the apparatus.

Conventional umbrella stretchers are attached to a runner on the shaft to comprise a normally functioning umbrella. The shaft comprises a fabric for a conventional umbrella canopy. A water discharger connects to the shaft at a water tight connection and comprises a spherical member for squirting liquid contents contained in the handle.

The water discharges out the top end of the apparatus by spraying. The apparatus comprises a spherical discharger. The liquid discharger comprises a series of perforations disposed on the surface. The perforations on the discharger are of radial equidistance and are between 1/16th and 1/32nd inches in diameter. The perforations are disposed across the top hemisphere of the discharger. The neck of the liquid discharger comprises female threads to hermetically junction with male threads disposed at the top extreme end of the shaft.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIG. 1, a liquid squirting umbrella apparatus is shown and described. The apparatus 10 comprises a handle means 12 for holding water. The handle means 12 comprises a squeeze-bottle device. A lid means 14, for capping the handle means 12, comprises a point of connection with the handle means 12. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus 10 comprises a handle means 12 made of a deformable yet resilient material, in a cylindrical shape, wherein a user causes the liquid contents to flow through the shaft 18 by squeezing or manually collapsing the handle means 12. The shaft 18 comprises a water tight configuration with a portal 16 in the lid means 14.

Still referring to FIG. 1, the apparatus 10 comprises a fabric for an umbrella canopy 20 disposed on the shaft 18. The apparatus 10 further comprises a discharging means 22 for spraying water. The discharging means 22, connects to the shaft 18 at a water tight connection 24, and comprises a spherical member for squirting liquid contents contained in the handle means 12.

Referring to FIG. 2, one preferred embodiment of the handle means 12 is shown. The handle means 12 comprises a male threaded neck 26 and a hermetic junction between the handle means 12 and the lid means 14. The lid means 14 comprises a corresponding female threaded neck 28. Conventional umbrella stretchers 30 are attached to a runner 32 on the shaft 18 to comprise a normally functioning umbrella.

Referring to FIG. 3, the shaft 18 comprises a hollow cylindrical member to hold a pipe 34 in place by static pressure for transferring water out of the handle means 12. The pipe 34 extends from one extreme end of the shaft 18a, disposed through the lid means 14, to the other extreme end of the shaft 18 disposed at the top of the apparatus. In one preferred embodiment, the volume of the handle means 12 comprises a volume permitting at least two water discharges each time the handle means 12 is filled with liquid.

Referring to FIG. 4 a spherical discharging means 40 comprises a series of perforations 42 disposed on the surface of the discharging means 40. In one preferred embodiment, the perforations 42 are of radial equidistance and are between 1/16th and 1/32nd inches in diameter. In another preferred embodiment the perforations 42 are disposed across the top hemisphere of the discharging means 40. In still another preferred embodiment, the neck 46 of the discharging means 40 comprises female threads to hermetically junction with male threads 48 disposed at the top extreme end of the shaft 18b.

In particular, the use of “step of” in the claims herein is not intended to invoke the provisions of 35 U.S.C. §112, paragraph 6.

Although preferred embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, various modifications and substitutions may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, it is to be understood that the present invention has been described by way of illustration and not limitation.

Claims

1. A liquid squirting umbrella apparatus, comprising:

a. a handle means for holding water, comprising a squeeze-bottle device with an open top, wherein the open top of the handle means further comprises a water tight point of connection at the open top;
b. a lid means for capping the handle means at the open top, comprising a water tight point of connection with the handle means, and further comprising a portal through which a shaft can be disposed in a water tight configuration;
c. a shaft comprising a hollow cylindrical member with a first end and a second end, and further comprising an umbrella tube, with an umbrella canopy disposed thereon, wherein the first end of the shaft is disposed through the portal of the lid means;
d. a discharging means for spraying water, connected by a water tight connection to the second end of the shaft, comprising a spherical member wherein a series of perforations are disposed on the surface of the discharging means; and
e. wherein when the handle means is filled with water and attached to the lid means, with the shaft disposed in the handle and lid means, the handle means can be squeezed, causing water to flow from the handle means, through the shaft, into the discharging means, and through the perforations causing water to spray over the canopy of the umbrella.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein a hermetic junction between the handle means comprises a male threaded neck and lid means comprising a female threaded neck.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the handle means is cylindrical.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the shaft is made of aluminum or other non-corrosive materials.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the discharging means comprises equidistant radial perforations of between 1/16th and 1/32nd inches in diameter on the spherical portion wall.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the neck of the discharging means is female threaded to hermetically junction with a male threaded portion of the shaft;

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the handle means is made of a deformable yet resilient material wherein a user causes the liquid contents to flow through the shaft.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein a fabric and stretcher comprising a canopy is disposed on the shaft, comprising an umbrella.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the shaft has a hollow center and holds a pipe in place by static pressure for transferring water, wherein the pipe extends from the first end of the shaft to the second end of the shaft.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein a runner, rib, stretcher, and canopy are disposed on the shaft, and comprise an umbrella.

11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the volume of the handle means comprises a volume permitting at least two or more water discharges each time the handle means is filled.

12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the perforations disposed on the discharging means are disposed on the top hemisphere.
