STRUCTURE OF PUTTER HEAD FOR GOLF

A structure of a putter head for golf improves straightforwardness of a hit golf ball direction and disperses an instantaneous shock impact between the golf ball and the putter head, to thereby improve a hitting sense, and minimize air resistance to thus enable a player to perform a stable golf playing operation. The golf putter head structure includes a number of throughholes which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head, respectively; and a number of protrusions which are inserted into and contact the dimples of the golf ball when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a structure of a putter head for golf, and more particularly, to a structure of a putter head for golf, which can form a direction of a hit golf ball in a desired direction after hitting the golf ball, increases a contact area between the golf ball and a front portion of the putter head at the time of collision between the golf ball and the putter head, to thereby disperse instantaneous impact power and to thus improve a hitting sense, and minimizes air resistance of the putter head, to thereby enable a player to play a stable swing operation.

2. Description of the Related Art

Generally, dimples are formed on a golf ball in order to improve a flying distance of a hit golf ball, that is, carries of a hit golf ball. Accordingly, when a golf ball is hit by a front portion of a putter head, a contact area between the golf ball and the front portion of the putter head is decreased. As a result, it is difficult to obtain a desired hitting direction.

In addition, when a stopped golf ball is hit by a putter head, an impact is directly transferred to the putter head, to thus make a player feel a strong hitting shock impact. In the case that a golf ball is hit by a portion of a putter head which is located eccentrically from an axial line of a shaft of the putter head, the putter head is turned. As a result, a direction of the hit ball may be an undesired direction.

In order to guarantee straightforwardness of a hit ball direction, putter heads having a number of uneven portions which are long in a horizontal direction on the front portion of the putter head are available in the market, but have caused a contact area with respect to a golf ball to be reduced. Accordingly, when a player hits a golf ball, he or she feels a large amount of shock impact and fails to improve straightforwardness of the hit ball direction.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

To overcome inconveniences of the conventional art, it is an object of the present invention to provide a structure of a putter head for golf, which includes a number of protrusions which are inserted into and contact dimples formed on a golf ball when a player hits the golf ball by the putter head, in which a contact area between the golf ball and a front portion of the putter head at the time of collision between the golf ball and the putter head is increased, to thereby make the shock impact dispersed through the protrusions having contacted to the dimples formed on the golf ball, to thus soften a hitting sense, and to thus enable the player to feel a soft shock impact, and the golf ball is made to roll in a straightforward direction even if the putter head is opened or closed by the protrusions having inserted into and contacted the dimples formed on the golf ball, to thereby improve straightforwardness of the hit ball direction.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a structure of a putter head for golf, in which hollow tubes are inserted into throughholes which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head, respectively, and thus air is introduced into the inside of the hollow tube in the case of swing a golf club such as a putter, to then be exhausted to the rear portion of the putter head, to thereby minimize air resistance in case of swing, and improve a control performance of the golf club, and to enable a player to play a comfortable hitting operation.

To accomplish the above object of the present invention, according to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a structure of a putter head for golf, which is configured to hit a golf ball on the outer circumference of which a number of dimples are formed, the golf putter head structure comprising:

a number of protrusions which are inserted into and contacts the dimples formed on the front portion of the putter head when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head.

Preferably but not necessarily, the ends of the protrusions are formed of a hemispherical shape, respectively.

According to another aspect of the present invention, there is also provided a structure of a putter head for golf, which is configured to hit a golf ball on the outer circumference of which a number of dimples are formed, the golf putter head structure comprising:

a number of throughholes which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head, respectively;

hollow tubes which are inserted into and combined with the throughholes, respectively; and

a number of protrusions which are formed at the leading ends of the hollow tubes, and which are protruded from the front portion of the putter head and are inserted into and contact the dimples when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head.

Preferably but not necessarily, the leading ends of the hollow tubes are rolled up by curling.

Preferably but not necessarily, the hollow tubes are made of a material whose rigidity is lower than that of the putter head.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Hereinbelow, a structure of a putter head for golf according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Like reference numerals are assigned for like elements in the drawings.

FIG. 1 shows a golf club which employs a putter head 100 according to a first embodiment of this invention, and is used to hit a golf ball 200 on the outer circumference of which a number of dimples 201 as shown in FIG. 2.

The golf club 100 includes a grip 10, a shaft 20 and a putter head 30, similarly to a general golf club.

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a number of protrusions 31 which are inserted into and contact the dimples 201 which are formed on the outer circumference of a golf ball 200 are formed on the front portion of the putter head 30 as characteristic configuration of the present invention.

In addition, the dimples 201 are formed of a partially spherical shape, respectively, and the ends of the protrusions 31 are formed of a hemispherical shape, respectively in the same manner as the dimples 201 in order to enlarge a contact surface with respect to the dimples 201, respectively.

When a player hits the golf ball 200 on which the dimples 201 are formed, the number of the protrusions 31 which are formed on the front portion of the putter head 30 are inserted into and contact the dimples 201 which are formed on the outer circumference of the golf ball 200, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. Accordingly, a contact area between the golf ball 200 and the front portion of the putter head 30 which is used to hit the golf ball 200 becomes large, and thus a shock impact power which is applied to the putter head 30 when a player hits the golf ball 200 by the putter head 30 is dispersed through a number of protrusions 31 which contact the dimples 201, to thereby improve a hitting sense.

In addition, as shown FIG. 4, although the putter head 30 is open to then hit a golf ball, the golf ball rolls toward a direction “B” which is almost close to a direction “C” which is a swing direction of a golf club such as a putter, to thereby improve straightforwardness of the hit golf ball direction.

Meanwhile, according to the conventional art, if a putter head is open to then hit a golf ball, in the case that the front portion of a conventional putter head is flat, a hit golf ball direction is formed in the direction “A” that is perpendicular with the front portion of the putter head, and thus goes far from the normal direction that is a swing direction, that is, a direction “C.”

However, if the putter head 30 according to an embodiment of the present invention is used, the protrusions 31 are inserted into and contact the dimples 201, to thus form a hit golf ball direction in the direction “B” which is the normal direction which is perpendicular with the tangential line of the protrusion 31. Accordingly, even if the putter head is open to then hit a golf ball, the golf ball can be made to roll in the direction “B” which is close to the normal direction that is a swing direction.

Referring to FIGS. 5 to 9 which show a putter head 130 according to a second embodiment of the present invention, a number of throughholes 135 which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head 130, respectively are formed in the putter head 130. Hollow tubes 131 are inserted into and combined with the throughholes 135, respectively. A number of protrusions 131a are formed at the leading ends of the hollow tubes 131, and which are protruded from the front portion of the putter head 130 and are inserted into and contact the dimples 201 when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head 130.

In addition, the leading ends, that is, the protrusions 131a of the hollow tubes 131 are rolled up by curling.

Likewise, in the case of the putter head 130 according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the protrusions 131a are also inserted into and contact the dimples 201. Accordingly, straightforwardness of the hit golf ball direction is improved and a hitting sense is improved due to dispersion of a shock impact power. That is, the second embodiment of the present invention can achieve advantages of the first embodiment of the present invention.

In addition to the above-described advantages according to the second embodiment of the present invention, air flows into the hollow tubes through holes formed in the hollow tubes which are combined with the throughholes 135 of the putter head 130, and then exhausted through the rear portion of the putter head 130. As a result, air resistance can be reduced in case of swing a golf club such as a putter, to thereby improve a control performance of the golf club and to thus enable a player to perform an accurate hitting operation.

Generally, since a putter head is made of rigid stainless steel, wrought iron or the like, the hollow tube 131 is formed of copper or silver whose rigidity is lower than that of the putter head. As a result, when a player hits a golf ball by a putter head according to the present invention, a shock impact can be absorbed by the putter head.

As described above, the present invention provides a structure of a putter head for golf, which includes a number of protrusions which are inserted into and contact dimples formed on a golf ball when a player hits the golf ball by the putter head, in which a contact area between the golf ball and a front portion of the putter head at the time of collision between the golf ball and the putter head is increased, to thereby make the shock impact dispersed through the protrusions having contacted to the dimples formed on the golf ball, to thus improve a hitting sense, and to thus enable the player to feel a soft shock impact, and the golf ball is made to roll in a straightforward direction even if the putter head is opened or closed by the protrusions having inserted into and contacted the dimples formed on the golf ball, to thereby improve straightforwardness of the hit ball direction.

In addition, the present invention provides a structure of a putter head for golf, in which hollow tubes are inserted into throughholes which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head, respectively, and thus air is introduced into the inside of the hollow tube in the case of swing a golf club such as a putter, to then be exhausted to the rear portion of the putter head, to thereby minimize air resistance in case of swing, and improve a control performance of the golf club, and to enable a player to play a comfortable hitting operation.

The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments. It is apparent to one who has an ordinary skill in the art that there may be many modifications and variations within the same technical spirit of the invention.

Claims

1. A structure of a putter head for golf, which is configured to hit a golf ball on the outer circumference of which a number of dimples are formed, the golf putter head structure comprising:

a number of protrusions which are inserted into and contacts the dimples formed on the front portion of the putter head when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head.

2. The golf putter head structure according to claim 1, wherein the ends of the protrusions are formed of a hemispherical shape, respectively.

3. A structure of a putter head for golf, which is configured to hit a golf ball on the outer circumference of which a number of dimples are formed, the golf putter head structure comprising:

a number of throughholes which penetrate the front portion and the rear portion of the putter head, respectively;
hollow tubes which are inserted into and combined with the throughholes, respectively; and
a number of protrusions which are formed at the leading ends of the hollow tubes, and which are protruded from the front portion of the putter head and are inserted into and contact the dimples when a player hits a golf ball by the putter head.

4. The golf putter head structure according to claim 3, wherein the leading ends of the hollow tubes are rolled up by curling.

5. The golf putter head structure according to claim 3, wherein the hollow tubes are made of a material whose rigidity is lower than that of the putter head.
