Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

a. Field of Invention

The present invention relates generally to multilayered protective carrier packs for at least one tactical device (in some cases, especially a gas mask) and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs. Historically, military, police, special operations personnel and others carry separate pouches or packs with such items as gas masks, grenades, incendiary devices, diversion devices (known as “flash-bangs”), weapons, radio and first aid kits. This practice creates problems, such as available space, accessibility, and resulting clumsiness. The present invention takes note of the newly developed compact disposable plastic handcuffs and there compactness, and couples that with a synergistic arrangement that allows personnel to carry a single pouch in which two or more items are combined and one item further acts as a protective layer for the other item(s). More specifically, in the present invention packs, a row of cuffs inserted around the inside periphery or part of the periphery of the pack provides quick and ready access to the cuffs, yet the cuffs act as a springy cushion layer to protect one or more tactical devices within the pack.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The accompanying drawings, which are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated in and constitute a part of this specification, illustrate preferred embodiments of the invention and together with the detail description serve to explain the principles of the invention. In the drawings:

FIG. 1 is an open top view of an embodiment of a multilayered protective carrier pack for at least one tactical device (here a gas mask is shown) and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs, according to the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a front view of the FIG. 1 present invention multilayered protective carrier pack for at least one tactical device and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs;

FIG. 3 is an enlarged partially assembled top partial view of another present invention multilayered protective carrier pack for at least one tactical device and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs; and,

FIG. 4 is an open top view of an embodiment of a multilayered protective carrier pack for at least one tactical device (here plural cylindrical devices, such as incendiary devices, are shown) and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs, according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

FIG. 1 is an open top view of an embodiment of a multilayered protective carrier pack 100, for carrying at least one tactical device (here a gas mask 31 is shown) and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs. It has been discovered that flexible handcuffs made of plastic can now be folded in half and in half again so that cuffs 30 inches long can be folded to 15 inches and then gain to 7½ inches and may optionally be looped with a rubber band, gasket or other holder. In this form, the cuffs can fit into a pouch that would typically hold one cigar. Taking advantage of this discovery, the present invention pack 100 has facility for storing these folded handcuffs and providing a protective layer for the internally stored tactical device(s). The term “tactical device” should be interpreted to mean anything that a tactical officer might carry in a pack.

In FIG. 1, pack 100 has a back 1, a front 3 and a flap 5 that is folded back in this Figure and shown in more detail in FIG. 2 discussed below. (Front 3 is an arcuate flexible, semi-flexible or rigid wall that actually acts as a continuous wall for the front and sides of the pack 100. It could alternatively have side walls with corners.) On the inside wall 7 of front 3 is another wall 9 (in this case, a flexible or semi-flexible panel that is attached to inside wall 7 in a pattern so as to create a series of pouches, such as pouches 11 and 13. The pouches are sized to receive one or more folded disposable handcuffs such as cuffs 17, 19 and 21. Because the cuffs are folded plastic, they flex and squeeze or yield slightly to pressure, and thus further cushion and protect gas mask 31. (Gas masks are often partially cloth or other foldable material and gas mask 31 has a portion of itself folded in so that it fits and appears as shown.)

FIG. 2 is a closed front view of the FIG. 1 present invention multilayered protective carrier 100. Front 3 has a rectangular front view and a curved top view and includes security strap 23 interconnecting with latch 25 on flap 5. Optional carrying strap 27 is also included.

FIG. 3 is an enlarged partially assembled top partial view of another present invention multilayered protective carrier pack for at least one tactical device and a plurality of flexible disposable handcuffs. This is an inside view. Shown are front panel 200 and bottom panel 51. Bottom panel 200 has a footprint of a truncated half circle 51 with the truncation at line 53. Front panel 200 has an inside wall 35 onto which second wall 47 is sewn or heat sealed or otherwise attached to inside wall 35 at seams such as seam 43 at positions such as flat 41, between pouches such as pouches 37 and 39. Bottom area 45 of front 200 is attached to the rim of bottom 300 (partially completed in the Figure at flat 53). A back panel with flap (not shown) is then attached and the pack is completed. This is merely an example of how present invention packs may be fabricated and is in no way intended to be limited to this method.

FIG. 4 is an open top view of an embodiment of a multilayered protective carrier pack 400. It has a front 101, a bottom 102, a right side 103, a back 104 and a left side 105. It may be constructed of rigid, semi-flexible or flexible material. There is also a top flap 121 with attachment means 121 that connects and disconnects with attachment means 125 on front 101, such as a latch or magnet or hook and loop fastener. On the inside of the front 101, back 102 and side walls 103 and 105 are a plurality of elongated pouches, such as pouches 107, 109 and 111. These pouches are adapted to receive flexible handcuffs, such as cuffs 113 and 115. There is another optional protective wall 117 within which one or more tactical devices may be stored. Here, two incendiary devices 119 and 121 are safely and securely stored. The cuffs are easily accessible and act to further protect the contents of pack 400.

Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail herein with reference to the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to those particular embodiments, and that various changes and modifications may be effected therein by one skilled in the art without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
