An adjusting assembly adopted for a seat of a chair comprises a support plate including a plurality of slots formed at four corners thereof respectively; two positioning members mounted on two sides of the top panel of the legs and each including a number of recesses arranged on one side thereof; two spacing members coupled with the positioning members and each including a plurality of guiding ribs fixed thereon; a plurality of engaging members, each including an actuating member fitted thereon, retained in a notch of the support plate and covered by a housing member, the engaging member further including at least one resilient element fitted on one side thereof, the actuating member including an extension disposed on end thereof, and one end of the actuating member which extends out of the housing member being limited in the support plate by ways of a locking member.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an adjusting assembly adopted for a seat of a chair that can adjust the seat to a preferred position stably.

2. Description of the Prior

Conventional chair includes a seat, a back, a plurality of legs, and two armrests, all of which allow to be adjusted. However, the seat of the chair can not be adjusted to slide along the support plate stably.

The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary object of the present invention is to provide an adjusting assembly adopted for a seat of a chair that can adjust the seat to a preferred position stably.

An adjusting assembly adopted for a seat of a chair in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises:

a support plate including a plurality of slots formed at four corners thereof;

two positioning members mounted on two sides of the top panel of the legs and each including a number of recesses arranged on one side thereof;

two spacing members coupled with the positioning members and each including a plurality of guiding ribs fixed thereon;

the positioning members and the spacing members being axially connected to the slots of the support plate by using screwing elements with sleeves fitted thereon;

a plurality of engaging members, each including an actuating member fitted thereon, retained in a notch of the support plate and covered by a housing member, the engaging member further including at least one resilient element fitted on one side thereof so as to bias against the housing member and push one end of the engaging member to retain in one of the recesses, the actuating member including an extension disposed on end thereof so that when a first driving stem of the actuating member is driven, the engaging member is controlled to engage to or disengage from the recess, and one end of the actuating member extending out of the housing member is limited in the support plate by ways of a locking member.

Furthermore, a controlling line inserted through a second driving stem is used to control the engaging member to engage to or disengage from the recess as well.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention will be clearer from the following description when viewed together with the accompanying drawings, which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 1, an adjusting assembly 8 adopted for a set of a chair in according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is connected with a seat 2 and disposed on a top panel 11 of a plurality of legs 1 of the chair, wherein the adjusting assembly 8 comprises:

a support plate 3 including a plurality of slots 31 formed at four corners thereof respectively;

two positioning members 4 (as shown in FIG. 1) mounted on two sides of the top panel 11 of the legs 1 (as illustrated in FIG. 4) and each including a number of recesses 41 arranged on one side thereof;

two spacing members 5 coupled with the positioning members 4 and each including a plurality of guiding ribs 51 fixed thereon (as shown in FIGS. 1 and 4);

the positioning members 4 and the spacing members 5 being axially connected to the slots 31 of the support plate 3 by using screwing elements 32 with sleeves 33 (as illustrated in FIG. 4) fitted thereon;

a plurality of engaging members 7, each including an actuating member 6 fitted thereon, retained in a notch 37 of the support plate 3 and covered by a housing member 34, the engaging member 7 further including at least one resilient element 71 fitted on one side thereof so as to bias against the housing member 34 and push one end of the engaging member 7 to retain in one of the recesses 41 (as shown in FIG. 5), the actuating member 6 including an extension 61 disposed on end thereof (as illustrated in FIG. 1) so that as a first driving stem 62 of the actuating member 6 is driven, the engaging member 7 is controlled to engage to or disengage from the recess 41 (as shown in FIGS. 1, 3, and 5), and one end of the actuating member 6 extending out of the housing member 34 is limited in the support plate 3 by ways of a locking member 35.

Each of the four corners of the support plate 3 is fitted a washer 36 (as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2) so that the seat 2 is fixed on the support plate 3 stably. In operation, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the first driving stem 62 of the adjusting assembly 8 is pulled upward to actuate the actuating member 6 to rotate in the same direction, and the extension 61 of the actuating member 6 rotates to contact with the housing member 34 so that the engaging member 7 is pushed outward by the resilient element 71 (as shown in FIG. 3) to disengage from the recess 41 of the positioning member 4, hence the support plate 3 and the seat 2 allow to be adjusted forward and rearward.

After adjusting the seat 2, the first driving stem 62 is released (as illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5) so that the actuating member 6 returns to its original position and the extension 61 rotates downward (as shown in FIG. 5), such that the engaging member 7 engages to the recess 41 by using the resilient elements 71, positioning the support plate 3 and the seat 2.

Furthermore, in another operation of the engaging member 7 as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, a controlling line 64 inserted through a second driving stem 63 is used to control the engaging member 7 (as shown in FIG. 6) to engage to or disengage from the recess 41 (as illustrated in FIG. 6).

While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it is clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. An adjusting assembly adopted for a seat of a chair being connected with a seat and disposed on a top panel of a plurality of legs of the chair, characterized in that the adjusting assembly comprises:

a support plate including a plurality of slots formed at four corners thereof respectively;
two positioning members mounted on two sides of the top panel of the legs and each including a number of recesses arranged on one side thereof;
two spacing members coupled with the positioning members and each including a plurality of guiding ribs fixed thereon;
the positioning members and the spacing members being axially connected to the slots of the support plate by using screwing elements with sleeves fitted thereon;
a plurality of engaging members, each including an actuating member fitted thereon, retained in a notch of the support plate and covered by a housing member, the engaging member further including at least one resilient element fitted on one side thereof so as to bias against the housing member and push one end of the engaging member to retain in one of the recesses, the actuating member including an extension disposed on end thereof so that when a first driving stem of the actuating member is driven, the engaging member is controlled to engage to or disengage from the recess, and one end of the actuating member extending out of the housing member is limited in the support plate by ways of a locking member.

2. The adjusting assembly adopted for the seat of the chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein a controlling line inserted through a second driving stem is used to control the engaging member to engage to or disengage from the recess.
