BANDEAU-NI HAIR SUPPORT DEVICE AND HEADBAND

Abstract

A hair device used to decorate hair or to hold hair in a fixed position. The hair device of the present invention includes a cloth or other suitable wrapping material wrapped around the head with an opening sufficient through which hair may pass unobstructed with or without additional hair supports (the “Bandeau-Ni Hair Device.”) The structure of this device reduces the risk of hair slipping out of traditional hair holders and allows the user to wear helmets or other head coverings without disturbing the holding and/or placement of the hair through the opening. Further, the Bandeau-Ni Hair Device allows for a more natural play during sports and motorcycle riding while providing a decorative flare capable of maintaining the pony tail appearance.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention relates to hair support and headband devices.

SUMMARY

A hair device used to decorate hair or to hold hair in a fixed position. The hair device of the present invention includes a cloth or other suitable wrapping material wrapped around the head with an opening sufficient through which hair may pass unobstructed with or without additional hair supports (the “Bandeau-Ni Hair Device.”) The structure of the Bandeau-Ni Hair Device reduces the risk of hair slipping out of traditional hair holders and allows the user to wear helmets or other head coverings without disturbing the holding and/or placement of the hair in the opening. Further, the Bandeau-Ni Hair Device allows for a more natural play during sports and motorcycle riding capable of maintaining the pony tail appearance while providing a decorative flare.

The Bandeau-Ni Hair Device may include an elastic band or other suitable material designed to provide a conformable fit to the head and an opening capable for receiving hair. The Bandeau-Ni Hair Device does not use any wires or banding to hold the hair received by the opening, although an additional elastic band or other suitable material could be integrated around the opening capable of receiving the hair. The device can also be configured to form a plethora of surface ornamentation or contours that serve a decorative function, including sports logos or other symbols on the main wrapping of the Bandeau-Ni Hair Device.

FIGS. 1 and 2 show views of the Bandeau-Ni Head Device the opening for hair in the back and loose hair being pulled through the opening in Bandeau-Ni Head Device. FIG. 3 shows a decorative Bandeau-Ni Head Device in use on a human head. It should be noted that there are no protruding elements of the Bandeau-Ni Head Device which extend beyond the device itself (i.e. the hair band of the Bandeau-Ni Head Device is used to support the hair passing through the opening of said device.)

Hair devices have been the subject matter of other patents. For instance, the Cooper U.S. Pat. No. 5,927,297, filed on Jul. 27, 1999, is a patented that allowed for a restraint assembly capable of holding hair in place and, specifically, a pony tail. The Landis U.S. Pat. No. 5,615,414, filed on Apr. 1, 1997, allowed for a self-conforming visor apparatus that included a detachable head encircling band and a visor dependent. Both the Landis Patent and the Cooper Patent are distinctively different from the present invention, but are referenced to show the inventions like the prevention invention are proper subject matter for patents.

The present invention has an unstretched opening in the rear portion of 0.2 inches to 1 inch, optimally 0.25 inches, an unstretched width of between 2 inches and 3.5 inches, optimally 2.25 inches, and an unstretched length of between 5 inches to 16.5 inches, optimally 8.7 inches. The length, width, and opening may be reduced or increased to accommodate smaller or larger human heads.

Claims

1. A device for holding hair comprising:

a main central body having an approximately round shape sufficient to encompass a human head, said main central body being formed of a cloth or other suitable material, and said main central body having a front portion and a rear portion;

an elastic band through said main central body for securing the main central body to said human head;

an opening in said rear portion of said main central body wherein human hair is encircled.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein said main central body further contains a decorative design.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein said opening has a diameter in the range of about 0.2 inches to 1 inch.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein said main central body has a diameter in the range of about 5 inches to 16.5 inches.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein said opening is formed from a second elastic band capable of encircling and securing said human hair.
