COLLAPSING DEVICE OF A DESK

A collapsing device for a desk includes a main frame provided with two longitudinal rods respectively disposed with projections and a pivotal hole. Two guide frames are respectively fixed at opposite upper corners of a front plate and bored with a through channel extending backward and slanting upward to correspond with the pivotal hole. Two pivotal wheels are respectively received in the guide frames and actuated to shift therein, and two leg frames are pivotally assembled between the rear side of the front plate and the guide frames, respectively having an upper side bored with plural fitting slots. Thus, when the longitudinal rods are pivotally turned downward or upward by the pivotal wheels, with the projections of the longitudinal rods respectively fitted in or pulled out of the fitting slots of the leg frames, the desk can be stretched or collapsed.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a collapsing device of a desk, particularly to one simple in structure, and able to be stretched and collapsed quickly without using any tool. And after collapsed, the whole desk is stable and small in volume, convenient to be packaged, transported and stored.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Generally, a conventional fixed OA desk formed by welding joint is huge in volume and impossible to be collapsed, taking too much space and hard to be packaged, stored and transported. In view of this drawback, a combined desk, which is made by combining various components together by means of screws, has been developed and employed. However, when such a combined desk is to be made on an assembly line or by a consumer himself, a tool like a screwdriver has to be used for carrying out assembly work smoothly, and it will take a long time to perform assembly or disassembly of the desk, resulting in much inconvenience. Therefore, most desks of today are designed to be collapsible; nevertheless, the collapsing mode of such conventional desk is only to make the top plate of the desk stand upright for storing, or have the top plate positioned horizontally for use, but letting the legs of the desk still kept in a fixed structure (either welded or assembled) and keeping the desk in an inverted T shape after collapsed, thus still taking much space in packaging, storing and transporting. Although such a conventional collapsible desk can be collapsed for storing and stretched for use, yet its components are numerous and heavy, increasing producing cost and causing trouble in assembly. In reality, the development of collapsible desks does not yet attain perfection and hence it is necessary to research and develop such collapsible desks that are simple in structure, light and efficient, and able to be quickly assembled or disassembled without using any tool.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The objective of this invention is to offer a collapsing device for a desk, which includes a main frame, two guide frames, two pivotal wheels and two leg frames combined together.

The main frame to be secured at the underside of a desk top plate is provided with two longitudinal rods respectively having a bottom side fixed thereon with a plurality of engage projections and an outer front end bored with a pivotal hole.

The two guide frames are respectively disposed at the opposite upper corners of a front plate, respectively formed with a U-shaped body having an inner side bored with a through channel extending backward and slanting upward to correspond with the pivotal hole of the main frame.

The two pivotal wheels are respectively employed to pivotally connect the guide frames and the longitudinal rods of the main frame, received in the guide frame and actuated to shift and operate therein.

The two leg frames are pivotally assembled between the rear side of the front plate and the guide frames by means of hinges, respectively having an upper side bored with a plurality of fitting slots to be respectively fitted in by the projections of the two longitudinal rods of the main frame.

Thus, with the hinges serving as pivots, the two leg frames can respectively be stretched outward along the front plate to have the projections of the two longitudinal rods respectively fitted in the fitting slots of the leg frames, letting the two leg frames support the two longitudinal rods and the main frame together with a desk top plate to finish assembling a stable desk. When the longitudinal rods together with the main frame is pivotally turned upward and moved backward along the channels of the guide frames, the longitudinal rods will be moved away from the leg frames. At this time, the two leg frames can be collapsed inward and superposed on the rear side of the front plate, and then the longitudinal rods are pivotally moved downward again to let the main frame together with desk top plate superposed on the two leg frames to finish collapsing the desk.

To sum up, the collapsing device for a desk in the present invention is simple in structure and able to be stretched and collapsed quickly and conveniently, needless to use any tool for assembling or disassembling, able to greatly diminish the volume of a desk after collapsed and convenient to be packaged, transported and stored.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a collapsing device of a desk in the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a front view of the collapsing device of a desk in the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a side view of the collapsing device of a desk to be collapsed in the present invention;

FIG. 4 is a rear view of the collapsing device of a desk in a half collapsed condition in the present invention; and

FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the collapsing device of a desk completely collapsed in the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A preferred embodiment of a collapsing device of a desk in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, includes a main frame 1, two guide frames 2, two pivotal wheels 3 and two leg frames 4 combined together.

The main frame 1 secured at the underside of a desk top plate 5 is provided with two longitudinal rods 11 respectively having a bottom side fixed thereon with a plurality of projections 12, and an outer front end respectively bored with a pivotal hole 13.

The two guide frames 2 are respectively disposed at the opposite upper corners of a front plate 6, extending backward and vertically to form a U shaped body having an inner side bored with a through channel 21 extending backward and slanting upward to correspond with the pivotal hole 13 of the main frame 1.

The two pivotal wheels 3 respectively employed for pivotally connecting the guide frame 2 with the longitudinal rod 11 of the main frame 1 are respectively provided with a wheel shaft 31 to be inserted through the channel 21 of the guide frame 2 and secured in the pivotal hole 13 of the longitudinal rod 11, letting the wheel shaft 31 received in the guide frame 2 to be actuated to shift and operate therein.

The two leg frames 4 are respectively and pivotally assembled between the rear side of the front plate 6 and the guide frames 2 by means of hinges 41, respectively having an upper side bored with a plurality of fitting slots 42 to be respectively engaged with the projections 12 of the longitudinal rods 1 of the main frame 1.

To stretch the collapsible desk for use, referring to FIG. 2, the leg frames 4, with the hinges 41 serving as pivots, are respectively expanded outward along the front plate 6 to have the projections 12 of the longitudinal rods 11 of the main frame 1 respectively fitted in the fitting slots 42 of the leg frames 4. Thus, the leg frames 4 can support the longitudinal rods 11 and the main frame 1 together with the desk top plate 5 to finish assembling a stable stretched desk.

To collapse the desk, referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, firstly, the longitudinal rods 11 together with the main frame 1 are pivotally turned upward and moved backward along the channels 21 by means of the pivotal wheels 3 and at this time, the longitudinal rods 11 will be moved away from the leg frames 4, and the engage projections 12 of the longitudinal rods 11 are respectively pulled out of the fitting slots 42 of the leg frames 4, thus enabling the leg frames 4 to be collapsed inward and superposed on the rear side of the front plate 6. Then, the longitudinal rods 11 are pivotally turned downward again to let the main frame 1 together with the desk top plate 5 superposed and covered on the leg frames 4 to finish collapsing the desk, as shown in FIG. 5.

As can be understood from the above description, the collapsing device of a desk of this invention is much better than a conventional one in industrial utilization, originality and practicability.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
