Abstract

A wearable device with pockets, straps and other attaching apparatus which hold rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and a recovery data storage system so individuals can endure and recover from dire circumstance.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to protecting persons and their personal information and, more particularly, to disaster or emergency relief and recovery needs.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In dire circumstance, people historically needed ready access to emergency devices and supplies in a portable format. Common disaster devices primarily focused on three basic components. Rescue, first aid, and survival have long been the three most important elements when people were faced with dire circumstance.

Today's society is heavily data dependent. Individuals collect vital data of many kinds over their entire lives. This data is highly important, valuable, and personal to each individual. Personal birth records, citizenship, credit, marriage and divorce, children and family birth and death records, wills and trusts, passport, voter registration, insurance, social security, medical, education, real and personal property, professional and personal affiliations, financial and banking are examples of the type data specific to each person. All of an individual's personal data can be lost in an emergency or disaster. House fire, tornado, hurricane or other violent weather event, act of terrorism, industrial accident, earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption or other unexpected events can destroy all data in a person's possession. Individuals need a device for protecting this data during such unforeseen events so they can recover from dire circumstance. Modern emergency means need to include four basic components; rescue, first aid, survival and recovery.

For portability, emergency devices and supplies are often assembled in the form of a wearable garment. Different types of wearable survival or emergency preparedness garments are most commonly in the form of vests. Many of these vests has been developed or designed for a specific purpose instead of a general survival or emergency nature. There are survival vests for aviators, hunting, fishing, tactical and weaponry. These vests include pockets, straps and other attaching devices for food supplies, first aid devices, rescue apparatus and ammunition.

Existing survival or rescue vests have pockets for emergency devices and supplies along with equipment specific to the intended user. Aviator vests may contain maps, a compass or signaling devices. Fishing vests may contain tackle or fish cleaning implements. Vests for hunters may contain devices for dealing with game of a specific type such as birds, deer or larger beasts. In these user-specific vests, any survival or emergency equipment is usually minimal and adequate only for situations common to that particular activity.

Current wearable emergency devices do not have provisions for storing personal data so do not address the recovery element that comes into play post dire circumstance. Rescue devices aid the individual in immediately dealing with the dire circumstance that has befallen them, such as a flotation device for flooding or rain protection during storms. First aid devices and supplies render basic life saving capability and the ability to deal with injuries sustained during violent events. Survival devices and supplies contain water and food supplies so the individual can be sustained after a violent event. Current emergency devices and supplies give little or no consideration to the individual recovering from dire circumstance so to re-enter the modern data-driven environment of today's society.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a wearable personal emergency needs device with pockets, straps or other attaching devices containing rescue, first aid, survival and data recovery elements for an individual.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a wearable personal emergency needs device garment containing pockets, straps or other attaching devices for securing rescue, first aid, survival and data recovery elements. The garment can be in the form of a vest, poncho, coat, shirt, chaps, pants, bandolier or any other form suitable to the human shape. The rescue, first aid and survival elements are those commonly found in existing devices. The data recovery element is a system including one or more written forms, photographic forms, electronic forms, video forms or any other means capable of recording data. The data recovery system is capable of enduring hardships encountered during disaster or other emergency circumstances such as water, fire, debris, dirt, moisture, light, heat, cold or any natural or manmade situations. The recovery data storage system is fire resistant.

Rescue elements are those devices designed to overcome surroundings and summon help to the individual such as whistles, reflective surfaces, flotation devices, climbing gear, communication devices, or cutting tools. First aid elements are those devices and supplies for treatment of physical injury such as bandages, antiseptics, pain relievers, antivenin, or first aid instructions. Survival elements are those devices and supplies necessary to sustain life over time such as food, water, prescription medicines or shelter.

Rescue, first aid and survival elements can all be shared with other individuals in the event of a disaster of other emergency circumstance. Data can not be shared so others might use it as their own. It is personal and specific to each individual. After a disaster of other emergency circumstance, the recovery data system of the wearable device of the present invention allows the individual to recover and restart their life and is therefore as important a component as the rescue, first aid or survival components. Individuals will have all of the necessary data to deal with recovering any aspect of their modern lifestyle even if displaced from their original home, town, county or state.

A compass is essential for a downed aviator to find his or her way back to civilization. A flotation device is essential for a fisherman to survive when he or she falls off of a boat. A bandage is essential to a hunter injured accidentally in the wild. Food and water are essential to a traveler who has journeyed away from areas where those essentials are close at hand. Data is essential to everyone needing to re-enter the data-accessed modern world. Data is essential to everyone needing to re-establish links with others in the data-accessed modern world. Data is essential to everyone needing to avail themselves of goods and services controlled by the data-accessed modern world such as insurance, medical history or financial assets. In the worst outcome, data is essential to identify the remains of someone who did not survive the dire circumstance and to insure speedy and proper handling of their affairs.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a wearable personal emergency needs device.

The wearable device is a garment 1. The garment 1 can be made of cloth, plastic or other suitable material. The garment 1 can be brightly colored for high visibility. The garment 1 can be fluorescent for night visibility. The garment 1 can be reflective for better detection. In this embodiment the garment 1 is in the form of a vest. The garment 1 can be any wearable form such as a shirt, poncho, pants, sash, bandolier, coat, chaps or any other suitable to the human shape.

A device storage system 2 is attached to the garment 1. The device storage system 2 secures objects to the garment 1. In this embodiment the device storage system 2 is comprised of straps and pockets. The device storage system 2 can be comprised of any apparatus or combination capable of attaching one item to another such as velcro, clasps, belts, wires, bags, netting, cord or other fastening components.

Rescue devices 3 are secured by or in the device storage system. The rescue devices 3 can be used to save an individual or individuals in dire circumstance. In this embodiment the rescue devices 3 are ropes. The rescue devices 3 can be comprised of flotation materials, whistles, light sources, breathing apparatus, communication devices or other vital components.

First aid devices and supplies 4 are secured by or in the device storage system 2. The first aid devices and supplies 4 can be used to treat an individual or individual's injury or illness. In this embodiment the first aid devices and supplies 4 are contained in a first aid kit. The first aid devices and supplies 4 can be comprised of bandages, ointments, antiseptics, antivenin, antibiotics or other healing or curing supplies.

Survival devices and supplies 5 are secured by or in the device storage system 2. The survival devices and supplies 5 can be used to sustain the life of an individual or individuals through and after dire circumstance. In this embodiment the survival devices and supplies 5 are a container with food and a container with water. The survival devices and supplies 5 can be comprised of tents, blankets, water purification means, prescription medicines, or other sustenance components.

FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of a wearable personal emergency needs device.

A data storage system 6 is secured by or in the device storage system 2. The data storage system 6 can be used to allow an individual or individuals to recover from dire circumstance with the capability to re-enter the data-driven modern world. In this embodiment the recovery data storage device is a file folder with written data. The data storage system 6 can be comprised of photographic data, electronic data storage means, video data storage devices, or other means of recording data. The data storage system 6 can contain elements to protect the recovery data storage devices from harm such as waterproofing elements, impact resistant elements, fire protection elements or other circumstance specific to an industry, geographic area, profession or endeavor such as chemical exposure, heat, cold, light, moisture, dirt, debris, harsh conditions or severe climate.

Since other modifications and changes varied to fit particular operating requirements and environments will be apparent to those skilled in the art, the invention is not considered limited to the example chosen for purposes of disclosure, and covers all changes and modifications which do not constitute departures from the true spirit and scope of this invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is desired to be protected by Letters Patent is presented in the subsequently appended claims.

Claims

1. A wearable personal emergency needs device for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices, comprising:

means for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices;

means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device, permanently connected to said means for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices;

means for saving an individual or individuals in dire circumstance, removably affixed to said means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device;

means for treating an individual or individuals injured or sickened during dire circumstance, removably affixed to said means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device;

means for sustaining the life of an individual or individuals through and after dire circumstance, removably affixed to said means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device; and

means for an individual or individuals to recover from dire circumstance with the capability to re-enter the data-driven modern world, removably affixed to said means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device.

2. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices comprises a garment.

3. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device comprises a device storage system.

4. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for saving an individual or individuals in dire circumstance comprises rescue devices.

5. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for treating an individual or individuals injured or sickened during dire circumstance comprises a first aid devices and supplies.

6. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for sustaining the life of an individual or individuals through and after dire circumstance comprise survival devices and supplies.

7. The wearable personal emergency needs device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means for an individual or individuals to recover from dire circumstance with the capability to re-enter the data-driven modern world comprises a recovery data storage system.

8. A wearable personal emergency needs device for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices, comprising:

a garment, for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices;

a device storage system, for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device, permanently connected to said garment;

rescue devices, for saving an individual or individuals in dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system;

first aid devices and supplies, for treating an individual or individuals injured or sickened during dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system;

survival devices and supplies, for sustaining the life of an individual or individuals through and after dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system; and

a recovery data storage system, for an individual or individuals to recover from dire circumstance with the capability to re-enter the data-driven modern world, removably affixed to said device storage system.

9. A wearable personal emergency needs device for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices, comprising:

a garment, for organizing and protecting rescue devices, first aid devices and supplies, survival devices and supplies, and recovery data storage devices;

a device storage system, for securing objects to the wearable emergency personal needs device, permanently connected to said garment;

rescue devices, for saving an individual or individuals in dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system;

first aid devices and supplies, for treating an individual or individuals injured or sickened during dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system;

survival devices and supplies, for sustaining the life of an individual or individuals through and after dire circumstance, removably affixed to said device storage system; and

a recovery data storage system, for an individual or individuals to recover from dire circumstance with the capability to re-enter the data-driven modern world, removably affixed to said device storage system.
