Reversible Infant Clothing
An improved infant garment which is reversible and comprised of two different sides each being gender-specific where only one side is observable when worn. When the gender of an unborn baby is unknown, the features allow the use of one garment that is gender specific to both a boy and a girl. The garment can be made in multiple embodiments that are typical of infant clothing.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONA. Field of the Invention
The present invention is in the field of articles of clothing. More particularly, the present invention is in the field of infant clothing.
B. Description of the Related Art
Infant clothing is either gender specific, meaning it should be worn only by males or only by females, or neutral, meaning that it can be worn by either males or female infants. There is no known garment that the Applicant is aware of that can be gender specific to both males and females.
When new parents prepare for the birth of their new baby, they must purchase clothes to take the little one home from the hospital. When the sex of the baby is not known before the birth, the parents are left with two choices:
purchase both boy and girl clothes or purchase neutral clothes. With the increasing fashion selections for boys and girls, parents often decide to purchase one boy outfit and one girl outfit. The logical outcome of this arrangement is the uselessness of one of the outfits.
Infant clothing is primarily constructed to be gender specific through the use of color and/or patterns as well as design embellishments (i.e. ruffles, lace etc.). When the sex of an unborn baby is unknown, clothing choices must be made in either gender-specific colors, for use by only one gender, or gender-neutral colors that allow for the use by either gender. Reversible clothing, providing multiple uses for a single garment, is well known in the prior art. Reversible garments have a design on a first side and a different design on a second side, taking advantage of the two-in-one feature. The choice between which side the user wants observable is made based upon fashion choice. There is no known infant clothing that combines the gender-specific colors and/or patterns of both sexes in one garment. The advantage of the present invention is to allow the purchase of one garment that can be specific to a boy and that same garment can also be specific to a girl.
While certain aspects of conventional technologies have been discussed to facilitate disclosure of the invention, Applicant in no way disclaims these technical aspects, and it is contemplated that the present invention may encompass one or more of the conventional technical aspects discussed herein.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention is a single garment that can be gender-specific based upon color and/or pattern for either a male or a female infant by way of reversibility between a first side and a second side thus eliminating the need for the purchase of two separate gender specific outfits for new born babies.

The advantages of the present invention include, without limitation, the enablement of parents to purchase one gender-specific garment for their unborn infant, without knowing the specific gender. Currently, when parents do not know the gender of their unborn child, they must purchase articles of clothing for a boy, and separate articles of clothing for a girl, or articles of clothing that are gender neutral. The disadvantage of the gender neutral clothing is an observer of the infant cannot identify the sex. The present invention eliminates the situations identified above by allowing the purchase of one gender-specific article, or articles of clothing for both genders. Further, the invention solves the problem of gift giving where the gender of the infant is unknown.
In broad embodiment, the present invention is gender-specific, reversible infant clothing.
Certain embodiments of the present invention include, without limitation, a shirt, trouser, shorts, “onesie”, sleeping gown, hat, booties, mittens, and are generally directed to infant clothing.
While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is considered presently to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method and examples herein. The invention should therefore not be limited by the above described embodiments, method examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.
