TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND The present invention generally relates to handbags, such as woman's handbags. More specifically, the invention is a handbag with a separate compartment to carry supplemental items such as a pair of shoes.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag that has a hidden shoe compartment that allows an individual to carry a pair of shoes inside the handbag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag that has a hidden shoe compartment that is a relatively high quality and expensive handbag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a hidden pocket that is accessed either from any of the four sides, the bottom and/or inside of the handbag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag that allows at least a pair of walking shoes or dress shoes, and/or any other item, to be carried in style and comfort.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a separate hidden pocket that keeps a pair of shoes and/or other item from interacting with other contents of the handbag.
The present invention recognizes that in cities where women have to walk to work from a subway, train, taxi, bus, or other transportation methods, women often wear comfortable walking shoes and carry their more formal dress, business, or high heeled shoes in a second bag or simply in the same handbag with other items, for example items of personal hygiene, a wallet, etc. Often this is no more than a brown paper bag or plastic retail store bag for the shoes while they carry a separate handbag or in the same bag with other items. Having a second pair of shoes allows women to change into dress or business shoes at work, and the walking shoes are placed in the second bag or in the same bag with other everyday items. This process is repeated during an evening commute, when women carry their dress shoes in the second bag and/or, if going out for an evening without returning home, they must carry the walking shoes while still wearing the dress evening shoes.
The present invention recognizes that with the diversification of the roles of women over the past few decades, fashion has changed to meet the needs of the career woman who is also a mother and homemaker. In times past, women would change their purses to match their outfits and the occasion. Women today for the most part are not inclined to sacrifice the extra time it takes to transfer the contents of their purses several times a day in order to coordinate their purse to their outfit or the occasion. Also, handbags today can be expensive, and having a handbag for each outfit or occasion is prohibitively expensive for the majority of women. It is nevertheless often still necessary to switch purses, as when converting from casual clothes or office gear to evening wear. It is an object of the invention to provide a working woman's shoe bag that is a high quality designer handbag that incorporates an additional, hidden shoe compartment to provide safe, clean, easy access storage for either walking shoes such as tennis shoes, flats, sneakers, or dress shoes such as high heels, pumps, or any other item that working women do not want to interact with other everyday items that they carry with them in their purse.
It is an object of the invention to provide a shoe handbag that eliminates the need to carry a separate second bag for shoes.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag that contains a cavity or compartment into which dress or casual shoes may be carried separately from other handbag items, such wallets, cosmetic cases and other handbag items.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a separate compartment that is substantially u-shaped.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a separate hidden pocket with an external appearance that is similar to a hobo type handbag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment has a removable insert that is made of soft materials.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment that snaps open with the top opening from the outside of the compartment.
It is an object of the invention to provide a shoe compartment that has a hard collapsible box-like structure that is an integral part of a handbag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment so that the shoe compartment may be removed if it is not needed.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment where the shoe compartment is divided into two or more sub compartments.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment where the handbag's body may be in a number of forms and shapes.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment which is constructed from soft supple leather, canvas, or other materials.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment where the handbag may be soft and foldable, or stiff and hard sided.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment where a shoe compartment element, or insert, is incorporated in a variety of forms such as a soft-sided shoe bag, a hard sided folding shoebox, or other comparable iterations.
It is an object of the invention to provide a handbag with a shoe compartment where the compartment, such the shoe compartment, may be accessed with a hidden zipper, folding flaps secured with snaps, hooks, or any combination thereof which is comparable and/or convenient to be accessed by its owner.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.
Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention, however, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.
The phrase “in one embodiment” is used repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.
FIG. 1 illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20, which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 can be accessed from a single side 14 of the separate compartment 20, has a means for closing comprising of three folding flaps 30 and has a soft inset 40 to maintain a definitive shape of the separate compartment 20. The separate compartment 20 serves as a means for protection for an item 50 such as a pair of shoes 60 being stored inside the separate compartment 20. Other items that are well known in the art can also be placed and stored inside the separate compartment 20 as well.
FIG. 2 illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section of the handbag 12 and can be accessed from a single side 14, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 has a means for closing comprising of three folding flaps 30, and has a soft inset 40 to maintain a definitive shape of the separate compartment 20 to serve as a means for protecting an item 50, such as a pair of shoes 60, that is placed inside of the separate compartment 20. The three closing flaps 30 are separately secured to each other and/or to the handbag with separate compartment 10 by various means for securing such as snaps 70 or hooks (not shown) or other means for securing that are well known in the art.
FIG. 3 illustrates an overhead perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 which is accessed from a single side 14, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handbag with separate compartment 10 is a different style of handbag than the handbag with separate compartment 10 described and illustrated in FIG. 6 and is a hobo type style handbag.
FIG. 8 and FIG. 9 illustrate an overhead side perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 in an opened position, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and is secured to the handbag with separate compartment 10 by a means for securing that extends along a substantial portion of the handbag with separate compartment's 10 cross-section 85. The handbag with separate compartment 10 is a different style of handbag than the handbag with separate compartment 10 described and illustrated in FIG. 6 and FIG. 7.
FIG. 10 illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom part 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and is accessed from a single side 14 and has a means for closing having a means for securing at least one folding flap 30 to a wall 80 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 11 illustrates a diagonal front side perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The folding flaps 30 are separately secured to each other and/or to the handbag with separate compartment 10 by various means for closing such as snaps 70 or hooks (not shown) and other means for closing that are well known in the art. Other items 50 can also be placed in the separate compartment 20 that are well known in the art, although no item 50 is shown in FIG. 11.
FIG. 12 illustrates a diagonal front side perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 is accessed from a single side 14, has a means for closing having a means for securing at least one folding flap 30 to a wall 80 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. The separate compartment 20 is illustrated in a closed position.
FIG. 13 illustrates an overhead perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 can be accessed from a single side 14, has a means for closing comprising three folding flaps 30 and has a soft inset 40 to maintain a definitive shape of the separate compartment 20 to serve as a means for protecting an item 50, such as a pair of shoes 60, that is placed inside of the separate compartment 20. The folding flaps 30 are separately secured to each other and/or to the handbag with separate compartment 20 by various means for closing such as snaps 70 or hooks (not shown) and other means for closing that are well known in the art.
FIG. 14 illustrates an overhead perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The separate compartment 20 is accessed from a single side 14 and has a means for closing comprising three folding flaps 30 and has a soft inset 40 to maintain a definitive shape of the separate compartment 20 to serve as a means for protecting an item 50, such as a pair of shoes 60, that is placed inside of the separate compartment 20. The three folding flaps 30 are separately secured to each other and/or to the handbag with separate compartment 10 by various means for closing such as snaps 70 or hooks (not shown) or other means for closing that are well known in the art.

The handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 which is accessed from a single side 14 and has a means for closing comprising three folding flaps 30 and has a soft or a hard inset 40 to maintain a definitive shape of the separate compartment 20. The separate compartment 20 serves as a means for protecting an item 50, such as a pair of shoes 60 that is placed inside of the separate compartment 20. In some embodiments, the insert 40 is a collapsible insert. The three folding flaps 30 may be separately secured to each other and/or to the handbag with separate compartment 10 by various means such as snaps 70 or hooks (not shown) or other means for securing that are well known to those skilled in the art. There is also a gusset 90 on the handbag with separate compartment 10 to receive the separate compartment 20 and a bottom 100.
FIG. 16A illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 16B illustrates a rear perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, which can be accessed from the bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and has a means for closing comprising a zipper 110 that extends along a substantial portion of a perimeter 120 of the bottom section 12. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 is accessed from the bottom section 12 with a zipper 110 on the perimeter 120 or in the middle 130 of the outside bottom section 100 of the handbag with separate compartment 10.
FIG. 17A illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 and a hidden zipper 140, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 17B illustrates a rear perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handbag with separate compartment 10 has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12. The separate compartment 20 can be accessed from the inside of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and has a means for closing comprising a hidden zipper 140 that extends along a substantial portion of a perimeter 150 of a dividing member 160 that separates the separate compartment 20 from the rest of the handbag with separate compartment 10. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 has an interior box 170 that is inserted from the inside of the handbag with separate compartment 10.
FIG. 18A illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 and a first snapping mechanism 180, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 18B illustrates a rear perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 18C illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 with a first snapping mechanism 180, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.
The handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20 is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. The separate compartment 20 is accessed from the inside 230 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and has a means for closing such as a first snapping mechanism 180, that secures a divider 190 such as a top side of the separate compartment 20, to at least one side of two sides 14,16 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 is additionally accessed from at least one side 14,16 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. In some embodiments, a minor hard wire 200 is incorporated in the outer rim 210 of the divider 190. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 contains a shoe box 220. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 collapses when the shoe box 220 is removed.

The handbag with separate compartment 10 with a separate compartment 20, which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, which is accessed from at least two sides 14,16 of the handbag with separate compartment 10 and has a means for closing, such as a second snapping mechanism 225, that secure at least one side flap 235 to the bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 contains a shoe box 220. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 collapses when the shoe box 220 is removed.
FIG. 20A illustrates a front perspective view of a handbag with separate compartment 10 and a plurality of snap tabs 260 attached to an inside wall 270 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The handbag with separate compartment 10 that has a separate compartment 20 which is located in a bottom section 12 of the handbag with separate compartment 10, which can be accessed from the inside 230 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. There is a means for closing, such as a plurality of snaps 260 that secure a divider 190, such as a top side 250 of the separate compartment 20. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 is additionally accessed from at least one side 14, 16 of the handbag with separate compartment 10. In some embodiments, a minor hard wire 200 is incorporated in the outer rim 210 of the divider 190. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 contains a shoe box 220. In some embodiments, the separate compartment 20 is collapsible when the shoe box 220 is removed, as previously depicted in FIG. 15F. In some embodiment, the means for securing allows for a complete detachment of the separate compartment 20 from the rest of the handbag with separate compartment 10.
