REVERSIBLE GARMENT

A reversible garment provides different looks, textures or washes on first and second presentation surfaces thereof. A first presentation surface provides a first visual appearance and a second presentation surface provides a second visual appearance using the same garment. All essential features of the garment are provided on each of the first and second presentation surfaces, such that each of the surfaces appears comparable to a conventional, non-reversible garment. As an example, a jean garment provides includes a main leg member formed from four interconnected panel sections. Each presentation surface of the garment includes a waistband having belt loops arranged therearound, front and rear pockets, and lower hems which match the selected appearance of the presentation surface. The garment also includes a single pull zipper and a double-headed fastening member, each of which functions when either of the first or second side surfaces is displayed outwardly.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

The present application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. 119(e), based on U.S. provisional patent application 61/300,654, filed 02 Feb. 2010. The entire disclosure of this priority document, including specification, claims, and drawings, is incorporated by reference herein.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the invention

The present invention relates to the field of reversible garments, such as trousers, shorts, skirts, and jackets. More particularly, the present invention relates to reversible garments produced using a fabric such as denim, where such fabric is specifically treated to have distinctly different appearances on the two opposing facing surfaces thereof, and where the garment also includes functional features such as belt loops, zippers, pockets, hems, and buttons on each of the two opposing facing surfaces thereof. As used herein, the term “reversible” is used synonymously with the terms “two-way” and “2-way”.

2. Description of the Background Art

Most garments are constructed with a single (ornamental) exterior surface intended to be exposed when the garment is worn by a person. For example, FIGS. 1A, 1B are front and rear views of a conventional pair of denim jeans 1.

Some examples of reversible garments are known, however, which may be worn with either of two opposite (inside or outside) surfaces facing outwardly. By way of example, U.S. Published Patent Application 20060/107441 and U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,182,296, 5,204,995, 6,647,551, 7,350,242, D333,203, D459,055, 2,525,089, 2,763,011, 3,234,564, 3,425,062, 3,495,274 and 5,842,230 provide some known examples of various types of reversible garments, including reversible jeans/pants. For example, some examples of jeans with a distinct finish on the outside (first side) of the jean fabric and a different distinct finish on the inside (second side) of the jean fabric are known.

Conventionally, reversible garments use multiple layers of fabric, such that each of the two surfaces of the garment (the inside surface of the garment and the outside surface of the garment) have a different color, texture, pattern, etc. As such, when the user wears the garment with the outside facing outward it has a different appearance than when the user wears the garment inverted, with the inside facing outward. The use of multiple layers of fabric caused the garments to be bulky and uncomfortable to the user.

While there are various types of known reversible garments, there are some limitations and disadvantages associated therewith. For example, one limitation associated with the known reversible jeans is that the use of multiple layers of fabric caused the garments to be bulky and uncomfortable to the user.

Another limitation associated with the known reversible jeans is that the pockets on the inside and outside faces of the jeans are sewn at different times, e.g., the outside facing pocket is sewn onto the outside facing side of the jean first and then the inside pocket on the inwardly-facing portion of the jean is sewn. This process of manufacturing the pants obviously increases the time and cost required to produce and assemble each pair of pants. Further, with the known reversible pants, many outside pockets are provided with a pocket bag “pouch” creating a certain amount of bulkiness to the appearance of the jeans.

As another example, the known reversible pants include a conventional configuration for the belt loops thereof, i.e., a first set of loops is provided on only one surface of the garment, inside or outside, while a second set of loops is provided on the other surface of the garment.

As still a further example, the use of a conventional zipper in reversible pants/garments becomes complicated, as the construction of conventional zippers and the zipper cover/fly in combination only allows the zipper to work when one of the two surfaces (inside or outside) is facing outward. As such, many reversible garments use button or snap fasteners which can easily be used on either side of the garment, without greatly increasing the size or bulkiness of the garment.

In order to solve the above problems, a single, thicker fabric having a different appearance on the inside than on the outside may be used to create a thinner, more comfortable reversible garment. However, a problem occurs when manufacturing reversible pants using a single, thicker fabric. Particularly, when manufacturing a reversible pair of pants using a single, thicker fabric and using conventional zipper covers (flies), fasteners (buttons) and hems of the pants, there is necessarily a front side (or an inside) and a back side (or an outside) of the pants. Because of such conventional manufacturing techniques, one side of the reversible pants suffers aesthetically.

Further, there are known reversible garments using a single, thicker fabric to manufacture a reversible garment wherein the pockets of the garment (particularly pants or jeans) are accessible whether the garment is being worn inside or outside. For example, in U.S. Pat. No. 6,182,296, on the exterior surface of the garment a one-part pocket pouch is sewn and on the interior surface of the garment another one-part pocket pouch is sewn directly opposite the pouch on the exterior surface. In such a design, when the garment is being worn with the exterior surface facing outward, the interior one-part pocket acts as the backside of the pocket, whereas when the garment is being worn with the interior facing outward, the exterior one-part pocket act as the backside of the pocket. However, while such a design allows the user to access the same pocket no matter the way the garment is being worn, such a design fails to provide that the garment appears aesthetically the same both inside and outside.

Other attempts to solve the problems associated with the reversible garments made from a single, thicker fabric have not proven successful. A need therefore exists in the market for a reversible denim garment that offers a different wash, color and/or texture on each of the first and second sides of the jean fabric, even after the garment has been washed, and in which each side has a normal appearance resembling a non-reversible garment. Although the known methods of manufacture have some utility for their intended purposes, there still exists a need for a method of manufacturing a reversible pair of pants using a single, thicker fabric that overcomes the deficiencies and limitations of the known reversible garments, and that provides an improved appearance and functionality relative to both surfaces thereof.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a reversible or 2-way denim garment which provides different washes on a inwardly-facing portion and an outwardly-facing portion of the fabric, which can be manufactured efficiently and economically, and has excellent appearance and functionality on both surfaces thereof. As used herein “first presentation surface” is used to describe a first surface of the reversible garment which faces outwardly in a first configuration of the reversible garment, and “second presentation surface” is used to describe a second surface of the reversible garment which faces inwardly in the first configuration of the reversible garment, and which faces outwardly in a second, inverted configuration thereof.

According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a reversible denim garment which includes two distinct facing portions; an first presentation surface and a second presentation surface; where the first presentation surface has a first texture, appearance or wash design and the second presentation surface has a second texture, appearance or wash design. In one exemplary embodiment, a jean garment according to the invention includes a front leg member and a rear leg member sewn together along a joining portion, a plurality of belt loops configured and arranged around a waistband of the garment, a plurality of front pockets and rear pockets, said front pockets sewn at an upper portion of the front leg member and rear pockets sewn at an upper portion of the rear leg member, the front and rear pockets provided so as to be accessible from each of the first and second presentation surfaces of the garment, a single pull zipper, and a two-headed fastening member.

According to a second aspect of the present invention there is provided a reversible denim jean garment wherein the front pockets sewn on the first presentation surface and second presentation surface of the front leg member are panel pockets. The front pockets on the first presentation surface and second presentation surface of the front leg member are sewn on back-to-back in a single sewing operation. The rear pockets on the first presentation surface and the second presentation surface of the rear leg member may be both patch/panel pockets. Alternatively, one of the rear pockets sewn on the first presentation surface or the second presentation surface may be welt pockets.

According to a third aspect of the present invention there is provided a reversible denim garment wherein a seam to create a rear pocket outline on the first presentation surface of the rear leg member is also used as a pocket outline for the welt pockets on the second presentation surface of the rear leg member.

According to a fourth aspect of the present invention there is provided a reversible denim garment wherein the belt loop is joined to the waistband of the reversible garment at three joining portions along the waistband. The belt loop is joined to the waistband of the garment at a lower portion of the waistband on the first presentation surface, an upper portion of the waistband on the first presentation surface and on a lower portion of the waistband on the second presentation surface. The belt loops are joined to the front facing portion of the front leg member and rear facing portion of the rear leg member.

According to a fifth aspect of the present invention there is provided a reversible denim garment wherein the hem of the reversible garment is constructed using a separate sewn hem band which is sewn on to the hem of the reversible garment. The addition of a separate sewn hem band gives the reversible garment the appearance of a normal hem on both the second presentation surface and the first presentation surface of the reversible garment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

It should be understood that only components/structures of the reversible denim garment considered necessary for clarifying the present invention are described herein. Other conventional components/structures, and those of ancillary and auxiliary components of the garment will be known and understood by those in the clothing art.

Referring now to FIGS. 2A-3B, a reversible pair of pants 2 is shown, including a first presentation surface 12 (shown on the outside of the garment in FIGS. 2A-2B), and a second presentation surface 14 (shown on the inside of the garment in FIGS. 2A-2B and outside of the same, inverted garment in FIGS. 3A-3B). The pants 2 include a main leg body 3 which is made out of a plurality of conventionally-shaped pant panel elements 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d. Each of the interconnected panel elements 3a-3d includes a single layer or ply of reversible cloth material, which may be denim material, where the first presentation surface 12 of the material is aesthetically different in color, pattern, texture, and/or other visual characteristic than the second presentation surface 14 of the material.

By way of example, the first presentation surface 12 may be a lighter blue in color and the second presentation surface 14 may be a darker blue. Alternatively, the first presentation surface 12 may be blue in color and the second presentation surface 14 may be black. As a third alternative, the the first presentation surface 12 may be blue in color and treated to be soft to the touch, and the second presentation surface 14 may be a similar shade of blue to the first presentation surface, but may be rougher to the touch.

The pants 2 also include at least one double-headed fastening member 16, and a two-way, single pull zipper 18 (FIG. 9C) with a sliding bridge for the pull tab at the upper end thereof to allow the pull tab to move from the inside to the outside as needed. The pants 2 also include a two-ply hem 20 at the lower end thereof, and a two-ply waistband 8 having both a first window tag 22 (FIG. 2B) and a second window tag 24 (FIG. 3B) formed therein, with the first window tag formed in the first presentation surface 12 and the second presentation tag formed in the second presentation surface 14. While the pants shown in the exemplary embodiment show two double-headed fastening members 16, any number of double-headed fastening members may be used.

The pants 2 are configured and arranged such that whether the first presentation surface 12 or the second presentation surface 14 thereof is being viewed, substantially all of the normally-viewable features of the pants 2 (e.g., the button, zipper fly, hem, waistband with belt loops etc.) are viewable in each case with a normal jeans appearance. The first and second presentation surfaces appear substantially similar to one another (although having a different texture, wash or color), and each of the presentation surfaces 12, 14 has an appearance comparable to a conventional, non-reversible pair of pants.

In other words, all of the essential features and components of the jeans are provided on each of the first and second presentation surfaces 12, 14 such that the features of the first and second presentation surfaces 12, 14 appear to be substantially similar to one another, with some aesthetic visual differences between the portions (In the example shown, the appearance and construction of the respective back pockets 4B, 5B is different on the first and second presentation surfaces 12, 14, as well as the surface treatment of the materials).

FIGS. 2A and 2B illustrate an exemplary embodiment of the present invention with the first presentation surface 12 of the reversible pants 2 shown on the outside. FIG. 2A is a front view of the first presentation surface 12 of the pants 2 including a main leg member 3, while FIG. 2B is a rear view of the first presentation surface 12 of the pants 2.

The pants 2 include a pair of large front pockets 4A sewn directly onto the front side of the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3, and a pair of rear pockets 4B sewn directly onto the rear side of the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3. The front pockets 4A may be formed as panel pockets, which may or may not include pocket bags.

As shown in FIG. 2A, a small pocket 4C may be formed so as to be partly covered by the front pocket 4A. The pocket 4C can be slanted at a lower portion thereof. As shown in FIG. 2B, rear pockets 4B may also be formed as panel/patch pockets that do not include pocket bags. The pockets 4A-C may be formed at an upper portion of the reversible pants 2 in a substantially conventional location, such that the pockets 4A-C are easily accessible by the individual wearing the pants 2.

FIGS. 3A and 3B illustrate the exemplary embodiment of the present invention with the pants 2 inverted, such that the second presentation surface 14 of the reversible pants 2 is now facing outwardly. FIG. 3A is a front view of the second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2, while FIG. 3B is a rear view of the second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2 according to the present exemplary embodiment. The pants 2 also include a pair of large front pockets 5A sewn directly onto the front side of the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3, and a pair of rear pockets 5B sewn directly onto the rear side of the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3. The front pockets 5A may be formed as panel pockets that do not include pocket bags.

Also shown in FIG. 3A, a smaller pocket 5C, similar to the smaller pocket 4C, may be formed so as to be partly covered by the front pocket 5A. Optionally, the rear pockets 5B on the second presentation surface 14 may be formed as welt pockets. The pockets 5A-C may be formed at an upper portion of the reversible pants 2 such that the pockets 5A-C are easily accessible by the individual wearing the pants 2.

During manufacture/production of the pants 2, the front pockets 4A/5A are sewn directly onto the first presentation surface 12 and second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3, respectively. The front pockets 4A/5A may be sewn on back-to-back in a single, efficient sewing process, which desirably reduces production time and cost. Further, the rear pockets 4B/5B are sewn directly onto the first presentation surface 12 and the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member, respectively. The rear pockets 4B/5B may be panel/patch pockets and may be sewn on back-to-back in a single, efficient sewing process, which again, reduces production time and cost.

Alternatively, one of the rear pockets 4B/5B may be a welt pocket instead of a panel pocket. In the following description, the rear pockets 5B are welt pockets, though the rear pockets 4B could be welt pockets instead. During the manufacture/production of the pants 2 wherein the rear pockets 5B are welt pockets, a seam to create a rear pocket outline on the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3 may be used as a pocket outline for the welt pockets 5B on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3.

FIGS. 4A and 4B illustrate the pocket configuration on the second presentation surface 14 of the reversible pants 2 according to an embodiment of the present invention wherein the rear pockets 5B are welt pockets. FIG. 4A is a front view of the front pockets 5A on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3, and FIG. 4B is a rear view of the rear pockets 5B on the second presentation surface 14 of the rear main leg member 3 according to the present invention.

FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrate the rear pocket configuration on the reversible pants 2 on the first presentation surface 12 and the second presentation surface 14, respectively, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. A seam 12 is used to create a rear pocket outline on the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3 and to create a pocket outline for the rear pocket 5B, which is a welt pocket, on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3.

As seen in FIG. 5, a decorative aesthetic design may be formed on the rear pocket 4B via stitching, printing or other appropriate means. The design shown is stitched and may be part of a brand identity for a particular brand name of the garment. It is to be understood that any design can be imprinted on the rear pocket 4B or on the other hand the rear pocket 4B can remain blank and not have an imprint of the brand name of the jean. Optionally, if desired, the rear welt pocket 5B on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3 may be a non-functional pocket.

The waistband 8 is made of the same material used to construct the main leg body of the pants 2. However, unlike the main leg body 3, the waistband 8 is 2-ply, and is constructed using a first and a second waistband strip which overlap one another. Each of the first and second waistband strips includes a cutout portion wherein a first window tag 22 and a second window tag 23 are respectively inserted. The waistband 8 has a botton hole 31 formed therein to receive the fastening member 16 therethrough.

During manufacture and assembly, the first waistband strip is placed at the top edge of the main leg body 3 at the first presentation surface 12 of the pants 2, with a first edge of the first waistband strip aligned with an upper portion (upper edge) of the main leg body 3, to present a consistent and unified appearance.

Similarly, the second waistband strip is placed at the top edge of the main leg body 3 at the second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2 with a first edge of the second waistband strip thereof aligned with an upper portion (upper edge) of the main leg body 3, to present a consistent and unified appearance.

The first edges of the first and second waistband strips are then sewn together with the top edge of the main leg body 3 sandwiched therebetween. The first and second waistband strips are then folded over the seam created when the first and second waistband strips are sewn together with the main leg body 3, such that a second edge of both the first waistband strip and of the second waistband strip are brought above the main leg body 3. The second edge of the first waistband strip and the second edge of the second waistband strips are then folded inward toward the other of the waistband strips. The first and second waistband strips are then sewn together at the the top and bottom ends thereof with an upper portion of the leg panel sandwiched between, such that a single, continuous 2-ply waistband 8 is formed at the top edge of the main leg body 3.

FIGS. 7A-D illustrate the configuration and arrangement of the belt loops 7 of the reversible pants 2 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 7A is a front side view of the joining portions of the belt loop 7 on the waistband 8 on the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3 according to the present invention. FIG. 7B is a front side view of the joining portions of the belt loop 7 on the waistband 8 on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3 according to the present invention. FIG. 7C is a rear side view of the joining portions of the belt loop 7 on the waistband 8 on the first presentation surface 12 of the main leg member 3 according to the present invention. FIG. 7D is a rear side view of the joining portions of the belt loop 7 on the waistband 8 on the second presentation surface 14 of the main leg member 3 according to the present invention.

The belt loops 7 of the reversible pants 2 are joined to the waistband 8 of the reversible pants 2 at three joining positions 9, 10 and 11 along the waistband 8 such that the belt loops are functional in both orientations of the garment. For example, the belt loop 7 is joined to the waistband 8 of the pants 2 at a lower portion 9 of the waistband 8 on the first presentation surface 12, an upper portion 10 of the waistband 8 on the first presentation surface 12 and on a lower portion 11 of the waistband 8 on the second presentation surface 14. More generally, the belt loops 7 are aligned with one another on both the first and second portions of the garment external to the waistband strips, and the same stitching is used to attach the belt loops to the main leg body 3 on both the inside and on the outside of the garment, and at both the upper and lower ends of the belt loops 7.

Turning to FIGS. 8A-8E, a fastening member 16 is shown according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The fastening member 16 of the present invention is preferably a button-type fastener used to secure together the ends of a waist portion of the pants 2. According to the present invention, the fastening member 16 is such that both the first head 17 attached to the post 30 and the second head 18 attached to the nail 32 are substantially identical. FIG. 8A shows a front side view of the first head 17 of the fastening member 16 on the first presentation surface 12 according to the present invention. FIG. 8B shows a front side view of the second head 18 of the fastening member 16 on the second presentation surface 14 according to the present invention. As illustrated in FIGS. 8C-8E, nail 32, which is attached to the second head 18, is pushed through a hole 31 formed in the waistband 8 from the front side of the second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2. The nail 32 then protrudes through waistband 8. The nail 32 includes a barbed member at the end thereof. The post 30, which is attached to the first head 17 of the fastening member 16, is then positioned such that the post 30 surrounds the nail 32. The barbed member hooks to the inside of the post 30 such that the nail 32 and the post 30 are securely fastened together. Since the first head 17 and the second head 18 of the fastening member 16 are substantially identical, the fastening member 16 appears identical whether the second presentation surface 14 or the first presentation surface 12 of the pants 2 is facing outward. Although the embodiment of the present invention discloses using a double-headed type button, any number of buttons can be used and they need not be double headed.

Turning now to FIGS. 9A-9F, the fly arrangement/construction according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown. The fly 13 is designed and constructed/sewn in such a way that the garment fly 13 looks substantially identical and functions the same whether the second presentation surface 14 or the first presentation surface 12 is facing outwardly at any given time. On a typical/conventional reversible pant, the fly looks normal on the outside but the inside has an unconstructed look.

As shown in FIGS. 9A-C, an incision 50 is made in the right front panel 3a of the pants 2 at a distance from the waistband 8. The incision 50 begins at the edge 41 of the right panel 3a and extends inward toward the pocket 4A. The first fly panel 40 is attached to right panel 3a on second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2. The edge 42 of the first fly panel 40 is aligned with the edge 41 of the right panel 3a. The first fly panel 40 and the right panel 3a are sewn together at a seam 100 close to where the edge 42 of the first fly panel 40 is aligned with the edge 41 of the right panel 3a. The seam 100 is substantially J-shaped and begins at the waistband 8 and extends to the inner end of the incision 50. The first fly panel 40 is then folded over the seam 100 such that the first fly panel 40 is positioned on the first presentation surface 12 of the right panel 3a. The bottom portion 40a of the first fly panel 40 is then folded over the incision 50 on the right panel 3a. A bottom portion 40b of the folded first fly panel 40 is then folded at a right angle from the fold where the bottom portion 40a is folded over the incision 50. The folded first fly panel 40 is sewn down at a seam 101 near the edge 42. The excess of the bottom portions 40a and 40b that were folded are then trimmed. The first fly panel 40 is then folded over seam 101. A first side 18a of a two-way, single pull zipper 18 is then sewn down on top of the first fly panel 40 at seam 102.

As shown in FIGS. 9D-F, an incision 51 is made in left panel 3b of the pants 2 at a distance from the waistband 8. The incision 51 begins at the edge 43 of the left panel 3b and extends inward toward the pocket 4A. The second fly panel 45 is attached to left panel 3b on second presentation surface 14 of the pants 10. The edge 44 of the second fly panel 45 is aligned with the edge 43 of the left panel 3b. The second fly panel 45 and the left fly panel 3b are sewn together at a seam 103 close to where the edge 44 of the second fly panel 45 is aligned with the edge 43 of the left panel 3b. The seam 103 is substantially J-shaped and begins at the waistband 8 and extends to the inner end of the incision 51. The second fly panel 45 is then folded over the seam 103 such that the second fly panel 45 is positioned on the first presentation surface 12 of the left panel 3b. The bottom portion 45a of the second fly panel 45 is then folded over the incision 51 on the left panel 3b. A bottom portion 45b of the folded first fly panel 45 is then folded at a right angle from the fold where the bottom portion 45a is folded over the incision 51. The folded second fly panel 45 is sewn down at a seam 104 near the edge 43. The excess of the bottom portions 45a and 45b that were folded are then trimmed. The second fly panel 45 is then folded again over seam 104. A second side 18b of the two-way, single pull zipper 18 is then sewn down on top of the second fly panel 45 at seam 105.

Referring now to FIGS. 10A-10D, the arrangement/construction of the hem 20 of the reversible pants 2 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown. While the following explanation of the arrangement/construction of the hem 20 is provided in reference to the right leg 110, it will be understood that the arrangement/construction of the hem 20 of the left leg 111 is substantially the same.

According to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a hem band 60 is provided wherein the length hem band 60 is slightly longer than the length of the bottom of the right leg 110 of the pants 2. Preferably, the hem band is made of the same single layer, thicker fabric from which the pants 2 are made. As such, the hem band 60 will have a first side which is identical in wash/finish/texture to the first presentation surface 12 of the pants 2 and a second side which is identical in wash/finish/texture to the second presentation surface 14 of the pants 2. The hem band 60 is folded in half and sewn along seam 106. The hem band 60 is then positioned over the bottom of right leg 110 on the outwardly-facing presentation surface 14, with the first side of the hem band 60 facing the outwardly-facing presentation surface 14. The bottom edge 60a of the hem band 60 is aligned with the bottom edge 110a of the right leg 110. The hem band is then fastened to the right leg 110 by sewing along seam 107. The hem band 60 is then folded downward over the seam 107. The top edge 60a is then folded backward twice. The folded hem band 60 is then fastened to the second presentation surface 14 by sewing along seam 108. By arranging/constructing the hem using a separate hem band, is it is possible to provide the reversible pants 2 with a hem 20 which looks substantially identical whether the second presentation surface 14 or the first presentation surface 12 is facing outward.

While the above discussion focuses mostly on reversible or 2-way pants according to the present invention, the invention also applies to other types of reversible or 2-way garments such as shorts, skirts, and jackets as shown in FIGS. 11A-11D, 12A-12D, and 13A-13D. The pants 2 of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention provide reversible fashion that provides alternate looks with a single garment, with both of the first and second presentation surfaces 12, 14 presenting a normal appearance. Similarly, the shorts, skirts or jackets of the present invention provide a similar alternating appearance in conjunction with the pant component. Further, while the pants of the exemplary embodiment of the present invention are made of denim, the garments could be made of a material other than denim.

Although the present invention has been described herein with respect to a number of specific illustrative embodiments, the foregoing description is intended to illustrate, rather than to limit the invention. Those skilled in the art will realize that many modifications of the preferred embodiment could be made which would be operable. All such modifications, which are within the scope of the claims, are intended to be within the scope and spirit of the present invention.

Claims

1. A reversible pair of pants comprising:

a first presentation surface;
a second presentation surface;
a front leg member and a rear leg member sewn together along a joining portion;
a plurality of belt loops configured and arranged around a waistband of the garment;
a plurality of front pockets and rear pockets, said front pockets sewn at an upper portion of the front leg member and rear pockets sewn at an upper portion of the rear leg member, wherein said front and rear pockets are provided on the second presentation surface and the first presentation surface of the garment,
a two-way, single pull zipper, and
a double-headed fastening member, wherein
said second presentation surface has a first wash design and said second presentation surface has a second wash design and said second presentation surface and said first presentation surface are made from a single layer of fabric.

2. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein said front pockets provided on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said front leg member are panel pockets, and said front pockets on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said front leg member are sewn on back-to-back in a single sewing operation.

3. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein said rear pockets provided on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said rear leg member are patch pockets and said rear pockets on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said rear leg member are sewn on back-to-back in a single sewing operation.

4. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein said rear pockets sewn on said first presentation surface of the rear leg member are patch pockets and said rear pockets on said second presentation surface of the rear leg member are welt pockets.

5. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 4, wherein a seam to create a rear pocket outline on the first presentation surface of the rear leg member is also used as a pocket outline for the welt pockets on the second presentation surface of the rear leg member.

6. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein each of said plurality of belt loops is joined to the waistband of the reversible garment at three joining portions along the waistband.

7. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 6, wherein each of said plurality of belt loops is joined to the waistband of the garment at a lower portion of the waistband on the first presentation surface, an upper portion of the waistband on the first presentation surface and on a lower portion of the waistband on the second presentation surface.

8. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein a hem of the reversible garment is constructed using a separate sewn hem band which is sewn on to a bottom portion of the front leg member and the rear leg member.

9. The reversible pair of pants according to claim 1, wherein the waistband includes a first cutout and a second cutout, said first cutout being provided on a first presentation surface and the second being provided on a second presentation surface.

10. A reversible garment comprising:

a first presentation surface;
a second presentation surface;
a front panel member and a rear panel member sewn together along a joining portion;
at least one double-headed fastening member; and
a hem band sewn onto one of a first presentation surface or a second presentation surface, wherein
said second presentation surface has a first wash design and said second presentation surface has a second wash design and said second presentation surface and said first presentation surface are made from a single layer of fabric.

11. The reversible garment according to claim 10, further comprising front pockets provided on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said front panel member, said front pockets on said first presentation surface and said second presentation surface of said front panel member are sewn on back-to-back in a single sewing operation.

12. The reversible garment according to claim 10, wherein a first cutout is provided in said first panel member and a second cutout is provided in said second panel member, said first cutout being provided on a first presentation surface and the second being provided on a second presentation surface.
