Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/301,852 filed on Feb. 5, 2010.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to footwear, more particularly to a sock having an adjustable strap that attaches to a pant leg hem.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Traditionally, pants were worn to cover the legs of a user from harsh environmental factors. The original use of the pants was not so much for fashion as they were for functionality. However, throughout the existence of pants, there have been many different kinds of pants developed with different aesthetics. In general, most pants were made to fit perfectly onto a wearer's legs stopping right at the ankles before the feet. Currently, there are many different styles of pants including pants the sag down to the heels of the user. In some cases, there are pants that even extend past the heel to provide the pants a looser look. However, by wearing such pants, the wearers often step onto the rear hem of the pants hose. Over a long duration of time, the constant stepping onto the rear hem causes wear and tear to the pants. As a result, the tear caused by being constantly stepped can, in some cases, begin to create a larger opening up the pants hose. Although some users may not mind, others may not find such a look pleasant or comfortable. Additionally, loose pants being caught under a wearer's heels may cause safety hazards. With the loose pants hose tugging at the heels of a wearer, the wearer may lose balance while walking and fall. The present invention aims to overcome such problems of wearing such fashionable pants. For the reasons of safety, comfort, or fashion, a user of the present invention may wish to restrict the movement of the hem of a pant leg. It is an object of the present invention to provide a pant hem protector which is easily incorporated into a sock. The present invention is able to hold the pant hem well above the ground and the user's heel to prevent the hem from being stepped on.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a side view of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a rear view of the present invention showing the strap being attached to the rear side of the lower leg portion.

FIG. 3 is a detailed view of the strap showing the buckle and the pants securing mechanism.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a sock 1 with an adjustable strap hook to secure the rear hem of pants. The securing of the rear hem of the pants will prevent it from being dragged or stepped on. This will keep the rear hem of the pants from being worn down and torn while remaining comfortable and fashionable for the user to wear. The sock 1 of the present invention comprises of a foot portion 11, a lower leg portion 12, an opening, and an elastic portion. The strap 2 that is able to hold onto the rear hem of pants comprises of an adjustable buckle 21 and a pants securing mechanism 22. The adjustable buckle 21 allows the users to adjust the length of the strap 2 depending on their height. The pants securing mechanism 22 is the portion of the strap 2 that engages and suspends the rear hem of the user's pants to prevent it from being stepped on or dragged.

In reference to FIG. 1, the foot portion 11 of the sock 1 is the portion of the sock 1 that envelops the foot of a user. The lower leg portion 12 is the portion of the sock 1 that tightly envelopes about the lower leg of the user. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the lower leg portion 12 tightly wraps around the user's lower leg to prevent the sock 1 from sagging. At the top of the lower leg portion 12 is the opening where the user is able to insert their feet to wear the present invention. To additionally ensure that the lower leg portion 12 does not sag, the sock 1 comprises of the elastic portion having a plurality of elastic bands 13. The elastic portion is a small cuff-like section that is connected at the top of the lower leg opening. The elastic portion having the plurality of elastic bands 13 will naturally be compressed to have a smaller radius than the lower leg portion 12. However, the elastic portion is stretchable due to the plurality of elastic bands 13. The plurality of elastic bands 13 interweaves the elastic portion of the sock 1 and provides the elastic portion the ability to secure the lower leg portion 12 to the lower leg of the user.

In reference to FIG. 2-3, the strap 2 having a first end and a second end is connected to the lower leg portion 12 by the first end. The lower leg portion 12 has an outer surface with a front side and a rear side. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the strap 2 is connected to the rear side of the outer surface by means of sewing. It is preferred that the strap 2 is secured at approximately half of the height of the sock 1. By placing the strap 2 high up the lower leg portion 12, the user is provided the versatility in how they can arrange the rear hem of their pants with the adjustability of the strap 2. When the user wears the present sock 1, the strap 2 lies parallel with the user's leg. The strap 2 is adjustable length to allow users to choose how low or how high they wish to allow their pants to hang without dragging or getting stepped on. The strap 2 is adjustable by means of the adjustable buckle 21. The adjustable buckle 21 comprises of a center bar and a pair of slits. The strap 2 is first weaved through the pair of slits to provide the strap 2 the ability to adjust in length. The strap 2 being weaved through the pair of slits then loops back and is connected to the center bar of the adjustable buckle 21 by the second end forming the adjustment loop. The adjustment loop provides the pants securing mechanism 22 an area to be secured onto the strap 2. The pants securing mechanism 22 is connected to the strap 2 by means of the strap loop 23, where the adjustment loop is interlinked with the strap loop 23. To shorten the strap 2, the user is able to slide the adjustment buckle towards the rear side of the lower leg portion 12 and the first end. The pants securing mechanism 22 can by any type of mechanism that is able to securely hold the rear hem of the user's pants. The securing mechanism can include hooks, clips, clamps, or any other suitable method of securing the user's pants.

To use the present invention, the user is able to simply slip the present invention onto their legs through the opening at the top of the lower leg portion 12. The strap 2 will hang down in a parallel relationship to their lower leg. The user can then adjust the strap 2 to a suitable length to their liking to ensure that the rear hem of their pants does not drag or get caught under their heels. Once the length of the strap 2 is adjusted to a suitable length, the user can simply secure the rear hem of their pants to the pants securing mechanism 22. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the pants securing mechanism 22 is a small hook. A small hook requires the least material and is the lighted type of securing mechanism 22. With the securing mechanism 22 being as light as possible, the strap 2 will not weigh down and pull on the lower leg portion 12 of the sock 1. Placing a lot of weight on the sock 1 can provide discomfort to the user.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
