Description

The present invention relates to a cosmetic holder for allowing interchangeable cosmetic containers to be releasably secured to the cosmetic holder, and in particular, a magnetized cosmetic holder that permits metal cosmetic containers to be releasably secured to the holder for use.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

Generally speaking, cosmeticians experience considerable difficulty as they work with different shades of makeup. In one hand will often be a makeup brush and in the other hand will be a particular shade of makeup. Unfortunately as the cosmetician needs to apply different shades of makeup it is often necessary to handle and exchange different makeup containers. Accordingly, a holder that will permit a plurality of containers of different makeup shades to be releasably secured to the holder and permits containers of different shades to be easily interchangeable to facilitate access by the cosmetician is desired.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, a magnetized holder for holding makeup stored in metal containers is desired. In particular, a base made of a magnet has mounted to it a peripheral frame to define a receiving recess. Different shades of makeup are stored in small tin containers. The tin containers are releasably securable to the magnetic base within the receiving recess in order to permit the cosmetician to have easy access to the different shades of makeup.

In a particular embodiment of the invention, the makeup base includes a cover that folds over the recess and includes a clear window so that the shades of the makeup in the makeup containers can be viewed when the cover is closed. Furthermore, the cover is provided with a spine that allows the cover to be folded back on itself during use.

Other objects and features the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description, considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawing figures. It is to be understood, however, that the drawings are designed solely for the purpose of illustration and not as a definition of the limits of the invention, for which reference should be made to the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The particular features and advantages of the invention as well as other objects will become apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the cosmetic holder instructed in accordance with the instant invention;

FIG. 2 is a plan view of the cosmetic holder depicted in FIG. 1; and

FIG. 3 is a partial sectional view taken along line A-A of FIG. 2.

DETAILED EMBODIMENTS

References made to FIG. 1 wherein a cosmetic holder generally indicated at 10 and constructed in accordance with the instant invention is depicted. Cosmetic holder 10 includes a holder base 14 joined to a cover assembly 16 by a spine 32. As depicted in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, base 14 includes an elongated outer sheet 20 formed of paper, cardboard, fabric or any other suitable material. In a preferred embodiment, outer sheet 20 is formed of copper paper. Base 14 supports a magnetic sheet 22 and defines the shape of the base 14, the spine 32 and cover assembly 16. The magnetic sheet 22 is adhesively bonded to the sheet 20 to form a unitary base construction. A plastic frame 26 formed of cardboard or plastic sits on top of the magnet to define the recess 30 in the cosmetic holder.

Outer sheet 20 also forms cover assembly 16 and a spine 32. Specifically, spine 32 is formed by two transverse parallel score line 34 which form spine 32 and space the cover assembly 16 away from the base 14. The spine assembly is dimensioned to allow the cover to fall flat onto the base assembly 14 thereby forming an enclosed recess for receiving and storing makeup containers therein.

Cover assembly 16 includes outer cover 20 and a clear acrylic layer 36 made of any suitable clear plastic material such as PMMA plastic. An outside plastic or cardboard frame 38 is adhesively secured to the bottom 20 to thereby secure acrylic layer 36 between the outer sheet 20 and frame 38 to form the cover assembly 16.

Reference is again made to FIG. 1 wherein circular and square makeup containers 40 and 42, respectively are depicted. Each makeup container is formed of a metal such as steel, tin, aluminum or the like, that is filled with different shades of makeup toner, foundation or other cosmetic products. Accordingly, a cosmetologist who will be working on numerous people or that creates different shades of makeup or any combination thereof can select the containers 40 and/or 42 and can place them on magnetic sheet 22. Once placed on the magnetic sheet, the magnetic force secures the makeup containers and prevents them from moving when the cosmetologist applies a brush to the makeup 44 therein. Furthermore, once the shades need to be changed or alternatively the makeup is used up in the makeup containers, the cosmetologist need only pull the canisters away from the magnetic layer. Additionally, because the makeup containers are magnetically secured in the recess 30 of the base assembly, and the containers are provided with a height that is no higher than the top surface of the base, cover 16 can be closed over the base so that each of the holders can be stored, shipped and/or inventoried with the cover closed over the makeup containers to prevent the makeup from being dislodged and moving inside the cosmetic holder during storage, delivery and handling. Also, the cosmetic holder is particularly convenient for travel, since the makeup containers will not move when they are jarred during travel and incidental handling. Also, it is within the scope of the invention that sheet 20 can be metal and each makeup container could be made of a magnetic container to assure that the magnetized makeup containers can be releasably secured to the holder during shipment, storage and use.

Thus far there have been shown and described and point out novel features of the present invention as applied to a preferred embodiment thereof, it will be understood that various omissions and substitutions and changes in the form and details of the disclosed invention may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention. It is the intention, therefore, to be limited only as indicated by the scope of the claims appended hereto.

It is also to be understood that the following claims were intended to cover all of the generic and specific features of the invention herein described and all statements of the scope of the invention which, is a matter of language, might set to fall therebetween.

Claims

1. A cosmetic holder comprising;

a base assembly including a metal base and a frame for defining a recess; and
a plurality of metal containers, each containing having makeup therein, whereby the container can be received in the recess;
and one of the containers and/or base is magnetic to permit the makeup containers to be magnetically releasably secured to the base.

2. A cosmetic holder as claimed in claim 1 wherein the metal base is found of a magnetized sheet of metal.

3. A cosmetic support as claimed in claim 2, and including a cover that is secured to the outside of the magnetic sheet to form a base portion, a spine portion and a top cover portion.

4. A cosmetic support as claimed in claim 3, wherein the base portions of the cover includes a frame that is cut out and is mounted to the metal sheet to define a recess for receiving the metal makeup containers.

5. A cosmetic support as claimed in claim 3, wherein the cover portion includes a clear member, a top frame having an opening, the frame securing member between the outer cover and the frame in order to define a window for viewing the makeup containers that are supported on the magnetic base, when the cover assembly is closed.
