Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to devices for showering and the like.

Showering devices are known in many variations. Known showering devices include usually a showerhead which is connected through a hollow element, for example a hose, a pipe and the like to a source of water, and an additional holder which supports the showerhead on a supporting structure, for example on a wall and the like. It is believed that the existing showering devices can be further improved.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a device for showering and the like which is a further improvement of the existing devices.

In keeping with these objects and with others which will become apparent hereinafter, one feature of the present invention resides, briefly stated, in a device for showering and the like, comprising a showerhead supplied with water for showering; and a holder for supporting said showerhead, said holder being hollow and having a first end connectable to a source of water and a second end connected with said showerhead, so that said hollow holder provides a water flow from the source of water to said showerhead through said holder and also a support for said showerhead.

When the device is in accordance with the present invention, it:

    • provides water passage to a showerhead;
    • it also serves as a holder for the showerhead;
    • it also serves as a rail for moving showerhead up and down;
    • it serves as an extension arm for a shower hose to supply water therethrough;
    • it serves as an angle-adjustable extension arm for the showerhead.

Another feature of the present invention resides in said first end of said holder is provided with means for adjustably connecting said first end of said holder to the source of water, allowing turning of said holder relative to an element supplying water from the source of water. The connecting means allow the holder to assume various positions relative to the water supplying element.

The device can further comprises a holding member attachable to said holder and having a receptacle for receiving said showerhead to support said showerhead in said holding member and thereby on said holder. The holding member can be pivotable around the holder.

A mounting member can be further provided on said holder and mounting said holder on a supporting surface. Said mounting member can be movable relative to said holder in a longitudinal direction of said holder.

A spacing member can be attachable to said holder, having a first end attachable to said holder and a second end placeable against a surface so as to provide a space between the holder and the surface. Said first end of said spacing member is displaceable relative to said holder in a longitudinal direction of said holder. Said spacing member can be also pivotable relative to said holder around an axis extending transversely to a longitudinal direction of said holder.

The holder can include at least two portions extending in a longitudinal direction and connected with one another.

The novel features which are considered as characteristic for the present invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its construction and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIGS. 1 and 2 are views showing a showering device assembled and arranged on a surface, for example of a wall, in two different positions;

FIGS. 3 and 4 are a side view and a cross-section of one end of a holder of the inventive device with means allowing its adjustment;

FIGS. 5 and 6 are a side view and a top view of a spacing member of the inventive device;

FIGS. 7 and 8 are a side view and a top view of a holding member arranged on the holder of the inventive device; and

FIGS. 9 and 10 are a side view and a top view of a mounting member of the inventive device.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

A showering device in accordance with the present invention has a showerhead which is identified as a whole with reference numeral 1. The device further has a holder which is identified with reference numeral 2. In accordance with the present invention the holder 2 is hollow and has one end connected with a source of water, for example with a short pipe 3 supplying water from a not shown water pipe system. The other end of the holder 2 is connected with the showerhead 1 for example by a hose 4.

In operation water is supplied from the element 3 through the hollow holder 2 to the showerhead 1 to provide a showering operation, and at the same time the holder 2 supports the showerhead 1, thus performing simultaneously to two functions, in particular the function of a water supply to and the function of a support for the showerhead.

In accordance with the present invention the first end of the holder 2 is connected pivotally relative to the member 3, so that the first end of the holder 2 can turn around an axis A extending transverse to the holder 2, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. In the selected position around the axis A, the first end of the holder 2 can be fixed by fixing means 5 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

In the inventive showerhead system a spacing member 6 is further provided as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. The spacing member has a U-shaped connecting part 7 which is fittable on the holder 1 so as to be tightly displaceable along its longitudinal axis and also turnable around the longitudinal axis, and a spacing part 8 which is connectable with the part 7 pivotally about an axis extending transverse to the longitudinal direction of the holder 1. The spacing part 8 therefore can turn relative to this axis at a desired angle, and its opposite end can abut against the surface of a wall and the like. Therefore the space of the holder from the wall can be correspondingly adjusted thereby adjusting the holder to user's preferences.

The showerhead system in accordance with the present invention further has a holding member which is identified with reference numeral 9. It has a U-shaped receptacle 10 tightly fittable on the holder 1 so that the holding member can displace in a longitudinal direction of the holder and turn around its longitudinal axis. The receptacle 10 of the holding member 9 is formed so that the hose 2 of the showerhead can be received in it and supports the showerhead.

The showerhead system in accordance with the present invention further has a mounting member which is identified with reference numeral 11. The mounting member 11 has a U-shaped part 12 which can be tightly fitted on the holder 1 and displaceable in the direction of its longitudinal axis, and also turnable about its longitudinal axis, and another part 13 which can be mounted on the surface, for example of a wall and the like. The part 13 can be formed for example as a suction cup attachable to the surface.

When the showerhead system is designed in accordance with the present invention, it can be arranged on a wall and the like and a holder 2 performs simultaneously the functions of supporting the showerhead and supplying water to it, and a possibility is provided for adjustment of the position of the showerhead at any location and at any orientation.

It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together, may also find a useful application in other types of constructions differing from the type described above.

While the invention has been illustrated and described as embodied in a device for showering and the like, it is not intended to be limited to the details shown, since various modifications and structural changes may be made without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.

Without further analysis, the foregoing will so fully reveal the gist of the present invention that others can, be applying current knowledge, readily adapt it for various applications without omitting features that, from the standpoint of prior art, fairly constitute essential characteristics of the generic or specific aspects of this invention.
