MOUNTING SYSTEM FOR HANGING PANELS

Mounting systems for securing display panels to walls can include at least one display panel having at least one panel connector attached to the back side thereof, and at least one panel support frame including a plurality of mounting supports that each include at least one panel receiver. The panel support frame can be attached to a wall, and the display panel can be attached to the panel support frame. For example, when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame, the downwardly extending tab of the panel connector can be received by the receiving slot of a panel receiver, and the upwardly extending tab of the panel receiver can received by the connector slot of the panel connector.

Description
BACKGROUND

The present technology relates to mounting systems for displays, and in particular to mounting systems for display panels mounted on walls.

Businesses typically use a variety of display systems to present products to consumers. These display systems often employ a vertical wall mounted support system, such as a pegboard, to which shelves, hooks, and other devices including signage are secured to display products. The shelves, hooks, signage and other devices are typically secured to the pegboard with some type of mounting bracket. However, these brackets are often complicated to manufacture, including flaps, notches, multiple angles, and multiple bends, while others are cumbersome to install. Consequently, businesses are continually looking for improved mounting devices and systems.

BRIEF SUMMARY

The present technology relates to mounting systems for displays, and in particular to mounting systems for display panels mounted on walls.

Specifically, a mounting system for mounting a display panel on a wall is provided herein that includes at least one display panel having at least one panel connector attached to a back side of the display panel and at least one panel support frame including a plurality of mounting supports having a length that extends horizontally from a first side of the panel support frame to a second side of the panel support frame. The at least one panel connector can include a connector slot and a downwardly extending tab. Additionally, each mounting support can have at least one panel receiver that includes a receiving slot and an upwardly extending tab. The at least one panel connector and the at least one panel receiver can be configured and arranged in a manner that, when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame, the downwardly extending tab of the panel connector is received by the receiving slot of a panel receiver, and the upwardly extending tab of the panel receiver is received by the connector slot of the panel connector.

In one example, the mounting support can include a back plate and a base plate attached to the back plate. The base plate can have a first leg that includes the receiving slot and a second leg that extends upwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes the upwardly extending tab. Additionally, the at least one panel connector can include a panel plate and a connection plate attached to the panel plate. The connection plate can have a first leg that includes the connector slot and a second leg that extends downwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes the downwardly extending tab.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present technology provides mounting systems for displays, such as retail displays, and in particular to mounting systems for display panels mounted on walls. As illustrated in FIG. 1, a mounting system 100 of the preset technology can include at least one display panel 102 and at least one panel support frame 104. The panel support frame 104 can be attached to a wall in any suitable fashion, and is preferably securely fixed to a wall. The display panel 102 can then be mounted onto the panel support frame.

The panel support frame 104 can include a plurality of mounting supports 108 having a length that extends horizontally from a first side of the panel support frame 104 to a second side of the panel support frame 104. Each mounting support 108 can include at least one panel receiver 116, and preferably each mounting support 108 includes a plurality of panel receivers 116. The panel receivers 116 constitute locations on the mounting support 108 at which the panel connectors 106 of the display panel 102 can be received and connected in a mating or interlocking manner. In the example illustrated in FIG. 1, each mounting support 108 includes three panel receivers 116 that are evenly spaced across the length of the mounting support 108.

Although the back side of the display panel 102 is illustrated in FIG. 1, it should be understood that the front side of the display panel can have any configuration suitable for displaying merchandise, including, but not limited to, openings and/or brackets to receive shelves, hooks, or other devices upon which merchandise can be displayed. A plurality of panel connectors 106 can be attached to the back side of the display panel 102, as illustrated in FIG. 1. In practice, the each panel connector 106 can be arranged on the back side of the display panel 102 to align with and connect to a panel receiver 116 when the display panel 102 is mounted onto the display support frame 104. Additionally, although it may not be necessary to do so, based upon the weight of the display panel 102 and the expected weight of the merchandise to be displayed on the display panel 102, it is preferred that the number of panel connectors 106 be equal to the number of panel receivers 116, so that each panel receiver connects with a panel connector 106 when the display panel 102 is mounted onto the display support frame 104.

FIGS. 2 and 3 illustrate one example of a mounting support 108 that can be utilized in the mounting system of the present technology. The mounting support 108 can be made from any suitable material, including, but not limited to, steel. The mounting support 108 can have a back plate 110 and a base plate 112 that is attached to the back plate 110. As illustrated, the back plate 110 can include a plurality of fastener holes 114, through which fasteners such as, for example, screws or nails, can be inserted to assist in fixing the display support frame 104 to a wall. The back plate 110 can extend downwardly from the base plate 112. Alternatively, a back plate 110 could extend upwardly from the base plate 112. The base plate 112 can include a first leg 118 and a second leg 120. The back plate 110 and the first leg 118 of the base plate 112 can be attached to each other at an angle “X”. The angle can be any suitable angle, and as illustrated in the example of FIG. 3, angle “X” is an angle of about 90°. Accordingly, in the illustrated example, the back plate 110 can be vertical, and the base plate 112 can be horizontal. The second leg 120 of the base plate 112 can extend upwardly from the first leg 118 at an angle “W.” The angle “W” can be any suitable angle, and can preferably be between about 90° and about 180°, and more preferably from about 100° to about 135°, including, but not limited to, being an angle of about 100°, about 110°, about 120°, about 130°, about 140°, about 150°, about 160°, or about 170°. As illustrated in FIG. 3, angle “W” is an angle of about 120°.

As illustrated in FIG. 2, each panel receiver 116 can include a receiving slot 122 and an upwardly extending tab 124. The first leg 118 of the base plate 112 can include the receiving slot 122 of each panel receiver 116, and the second leg 120 of the base plate 112 can include the upwardly extending tab of each panel receiver 116. Each receiving slot 122 can have any suitable shape and dimensions, and in the illustrated example is generally rectangular in shape. Each upwardly extending tab 124 can extend from the second leg 120 of the base plate 112 at the same angle as the second leg, or at a different angle. The receiving slot 122 of each panel receiver 116 is preferably aligned with the upwardly extending tab 124, and is positioned directly behind the upwardly extending tab 124, so that the a vertical plane that intersects the center point of the receiving slot 122 would also intersect the center point of the upwardly extending tab 124.

FIGS. 4 and 5 illustrate one example of a panel connector 106 that can be utilized in the mounting system of the present technology. The panel connector 106 can be made from any suitable material, including, but not limited to, steel. The panel connector 106 can have a panel plate 126 and a connection plate 130 that is attached to the panel plate 126. As illustrated, the panel plate 126 can include a plurality of fastener holes 128, through which fasteners such as, for example, screws or nails, can be inserted to attach the panel connector 106 to the display panel 102. The panel plate 126 can extend upwardly from the connection plate 130. Alternatively, a panel plate 126 could extend downwardly from the connection plate 130. The connection plate 130 can include a first leg 132 and a second leg 134. The panel plate 126 and the first leg 132 of the connection plate 130 can be attached and fixed at an angle “Y” to each other. The angle can be any suitable angle, and as illustrated in the example of FIG. 5, angle “Y” is an angle of about 90°. Accordingly, in the illustrated example, the panel plate 126 can be vertical, and the connection plate 130 can be horizontal. The second leg 134 of the connection plate 130 can extend downwardly from the first leg 132 at an angle “Z.” The angle “Z” can be any suitable angle, and can preferably be between about 90° and about 180°, and more preferably from about 100° to about 135°, including, but not limited to, being an angle of about 100°, about 110°, about 120°, about 130°, about 140°, about 150°, about 160°, or about 170°. As illustrated in FIG. 5, angle “W” is an angle of about 120°.

As illustrated in FIG. 4, each panel connector 106 can include a connector slot 136 and a downwardly extending tab 138. The first leg 132 of the connection plate 130 can include the connector slot 136, and the second leg 134 of the connection plate 130 can include the downwardly extending tab 138. The connector slot 136 can have any suitable shape and dimensions, and in the illustrated example is generally rectangular in shape. The downwardly extending tab 138 can extend from the second leg 134 of the connection plate 130 at the same angle as the second leg, or at a different angle. The connector slot 136 is preferably aligned with the downwardly extending tab 138, and is positioned directly behind the downwardly extending tab 138, so that the a vertical plane that intersects the center point of the connector slot 136 would also intersect the center point of the downwardly extending tab 138.

When the display panel 102 is mounted onto the display support frame 104, each panel connector 106 can join with a panel receiver 116 in a mating fashion. Specifically, the at least one panel connector and the at least one panel receiver can be configured and arranged in a manner that the downwardly extending tab 138 of the panel connector 106 can be received by the receiving slot 122 of a panel receiver 116, and the upwardly extending tab 124 of the panel receiver 116 can be received by the connector slot 136 of the panel connector 106. When the display panel 102 is mounted onto the display support frame 104, the connection plate 130 of the panel connector 106 will rest on top of the base plate 112 of the mounting support 108.

In one example, the mounting system allows for accurate placement of the display panel 102 onto the display support frame 104, and locks the display panel in place without the need for additional fasteners to attach the panel connector 106 to the mounting support 108. When the display panel 102 is mounted onto the display support frame 104, the panel connectors 106 and the mounting supports 108 are located behind the display panel 102, and are not visible to consumers viewing the display. Additionally, when desired, the display panel 102 can be removed from the display support frame 104 by simply lifting the display panel, without the need to remove any fasteners prior to removing the display panel 102 from the display support frame 104.

From the foregoing, it will be appreciated that although specific examples have been described herein for purposes of illustration, various modifications may be made without deviating from the spirit or scope of this disclosure. It is therefore intended that the foregoing detailed description be regarded as illustrative rather than limiting, and that it be understood that it is the following claims, including all equivalents, that are intended to particularly point out and distinctly claim the claimed subject matter.

Claims

1. A mounting system for mounting a display panel on a wall, the mounting system comprising:

at least one display panel having at least one panel connector attached to a back side of the display panel, the at least one panel connector including a connector slot and a downwardly extending tab; and
at least one panel support frame including a plurality of mounting supports having a length that extends horizontally from a first side of the panel support frame to a second side of the panel support frame, each mounting support having at least one panel receiver that includes a receiving slot and an upwardly extending tab;
wherein the at least one panel connector and the at least one panel receiver are configured and arranged in a manner that, when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame, the downwardly extending tab of the panel connector is received by the receiving slot of a panel receiver, and the upwardly extending tab of the panel receiver is received by the connector slot of the panel connector.

2. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein each mounting support includes a plurality of panel receivers.

3. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein each panel connector is arranged on the back side of the display panel to align with and connect to a panel receiver when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame.

4. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the number of panel connectors is equal to the number of panel receivers.

5. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the mounting supports and the panel connectors are made of steel.

6. The mounting system of claim 1, the mounting support further comprising:

a back plate; and
a base plate attached to the back plate, the base plate having a first leg that includes the receiving slot and a second leg that extends upwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes the upwardly extending tab.

7. The mounting system of claim 6, wherein the back plate and the first leg of the base plate are attached at an angle of about 90°.

8. The mounting system of claim 6, wherein the second leg of the base plate extends upwardly from the first leg at an angle from about 100° to about 135°.

9. The mounting system of claim 1, the at least one panel connector further comprising:

a panel plate; and
a connection plate attached to the panel plate, the connection plate having a first leg that includes the connector slot and a second leg that extends downwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes the downwardly extending tab.

10. The mounting system of claim 9, wherein the panel plate and the first leg of the connection plate are attached at an angle of about 90°.

11. The mounting system of claim 9, wherein the second leg of the connection plate extends downwardly from the first leg at an angle from about 100° to about 135°.

12. A mounting system for mounting a display panel on a wall, the mounting system comprising:

at least one display panel having at least one panel connector attached to a back side of the display panel, the at least one panel connector comprising: a panel plate; and a connection plate, the connection plate having a first leg that includes a connector slot and a second leg that extends downwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes a downwardly extending tab; and
at least one panel support frame including a plurality of mounting supports having a length that extends horizontally from a first side of the panel support frame to a second side of the panel support frame, each mounting support comprising: at least one panel receiver that includes a receiving slot and an upwardly extending tab; a back plate; and a base plate, the base plate having a first leg that includes the receiving slot and a second leg that extends upwardly from the first leg at an angle and includes the upwardly extending tab.

13. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the at least one panel connector and the at least one panel receiver are configured and arranged in a manner that, when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame, the downwardly extending tab of the panel connector is received by the receiving slot of a panel receiver, and the upwardly extending tab of the panel receiver is received by the connector slot of the panel connector.

14. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein each mounting support includes a plurality of panel receivers.

15. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein each panel connector is arranged on the back side of the display panel to align with and connect to a panel receiver when the display panel is mounted onto the display support frame.

16. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the number of panel connectors is equal to the number of panel receivers.

17. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the back plate and the first leg of the base plate are attached at an angle of about 90°.

18. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the second leg of the base plate extends upwardly from the first leg at an angle from about 100° to about 135°.

19. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the panel plate and the first leg of the connection plate are attached at an angle of about 90°.

20. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the second leg of the connection plate extends downwardly from the first leg at an angle from about 100° to about 135°.
