A truck bed clothesline assembly for clothes drying comprising: a first vertical post, said first post inserts into a first opening on a first side of a truck bed sidewall; a second vertical post, said second post inserts into a second opening on a second side of a truck bed sidewall; a first crossbar, attached to the top of the first vertical post; a second crossbar attached to the top of the second vertical post; at least one clothesline across the opening of the truck bed; and an attachment means for attaching the at least one clothesline to the first crossbar and second crossbar. The posts are interchangeable between each truck bed sidewall.
1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a clothesline assembly for installation onto a pickup truck bed.
2. Description of Related Art
Pickup trucks are light utility motor vehicles that include an open top rear cargo area usually referred to as a truck bed that is separated from the cab area. Pickup trucks are used for all types of transportation and light utility work. Many times the truck bed is used to haul equipment or materials for construction purposes. The truck bed may be used to haul recreational equipment or provide tool storage for a contractor or a construction worker. The pickup truck also comes in various sizes such as small compact or larger full-size pickup trucks that are capable of handling larger loads. Pickup trucks are also used to pull trailers that might be used for boat storage.
The standard bed area is usually an open bed without an enclosure. Enclosures are made for covering the bed area but most pickup trucks leave the bed area open to have maximum room for hauling equipment materials.
Some pickup trucks are used for recreational activities such as fishing, hunting or other outdoor activities. When a pickup truck is used in conjunction with camping certain individuals use the truck bed for the storage of camp gear and clothing. The truck bed is capable of being utilized for other activities or functions such as attachment of special towing or other equipment that is used in conjunction with the pickup truck.
Some individuals need or may desire to hang their wet clothing on a clothesline for drying. The wet clothing may be a result laundry or specific activities such as swimming, camping or hunting activity. It would therefore be advantageous to have a device that may be used in conjunction with a pickup truck bed for the purposes of hanging clothes for outdoor drying.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to a truck bed clothesline assembly for clothes drying comprising: a first vertical post, said first post inserts into a first opening on a first side of a truck bed sidewall; a second vertical post, said second post inserts into a second opening on a second side of a truck bed sidewall; a first crossbar, attached to the top of the first vertical post; a second crossbar attached to the top of the second vertical post; at least one clothesline across the opening of the truck bed; and an attachment means for attaching the at least one clothesline to the first crossbar and second crossbar. The posts are interchangeable between each truck bed sidewall.
The present invention relates to a truck bed clothing line assembly that is used to hang clothing for drying purposes. Some individuals continue to use clothesline drying as a preferred method as opposed to using a clothes dryer or due to the activities that the individual may be involved in at the time. The use of the truck bed clothesline assembly according to present invention provides a very convenient and easy device to install and remove a clothesline for drying purposes.

Use of this device provides the user with a convenient and easy-to-use clothesline assembly. Garments and clothing may be suspended from the clothesline through the use of conventional clothespins and once the clothing is dry the clothesline assembly may be removed from across the truck bed and stored for future use. Many individuals utilize outdoor clothesline drying as a method for certain articles of clothing and in certain instances where use of such a device is necessary. The necessity of clothes line drying may also be required where an individual may not have sufficient exterior space at their residence to install a conventional clothesline.
Claims
1. A truck bed clothesline assembly for clothes drying comprising:
- a. a first vertical post, said first vertical post inserts into a first opening on a first side of a truck bed sidewall;
- b. a second vertical post, said second vertical post inserts into a second opening on a second side of a truck bed sidewall;
- c. a first horizontal crossbar, attached to a top end of the first vertical post;
- d. a second horizontal crossbar attached to a top end of the second vertical post;
- e. at least one clothesline across the opening of the truck bed; and
- f. an attachment means for attaching the at least one clothesline to the first crossbar and second crossbar.
2. The truck bed clothesline assembly according to claim 1, where said first vertical post and second vertical post are interchangeable between each truck bed sidewall.
3. A method of creating a truck bed clothesline assembly comprising the steps of:
- a. inserting a first vertical post into a first opening on a first side of a truck bed sidewall;
- b. inserting a second vertical post into a second opening on a second side of a truck bed sidewall;
- c. attaching a first horizontal crossbar to a top end of the first vertical post;
- d. attaching a second horizontal crossbar to a top end of the second vertical post; and
- e. attaching at least one clothesline to the first horizontal crossbar and second horizontal crossbar, where said at least one clothesline extends across the opening of the truck bed.
