Device to keep cufflinks from falling out of a shirt sleeve

The invention is a circular device with a cross cut in the middle that fits between the folds of a shirt sleeve. The cufflink is threaded through the shirtsleeve buttonhole on the outside, through the device, and out the interior buttonhole of the shirtsleeve. Once the cufflink is fastened, the device will keep the cufflink from falling out of the shirtsleeve.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

classification: D11-226, in the field of jewelry that keeps a cufflink from falling off a shirt if it is not fastened correctly. A cufflink is defined as a head and tail piece made of similar or dissimilar material that is connected by some form of material, either similar or dissimilar to the head and/or the tail. The use of the cufflink is to have the head exposed on the outside of the cuff with the tail going through the buttonholes and fastening on the inside of the cuff Current problems exist where if a cufflink's head or tail comes out of a buttonhole in the cuff, the cufflink is prone to fall out of all buttonholes on the shirt and fall off the shirt entirely.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Invention is a flat, circular device that sits in-between the head and the tail of the cufflink that is inserted through the buttonholes of a shirt.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 shows the device in its simplest form.

FIG. 2 shows how the device is placed on the shirt where the cufflink is used.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Explanation of the Invention

The invention is a device that fits between the folds of a shirt that require a cufflink threaded through the buttonholes in an effort to keep the shirt sleeve closed. In this case, the cufflink acts as a button would on a shirt in an effort to remain closed.

Process of Making the Invention

The device can be made from any lightweight material that is flexible enough for the cufflink fastener to be pushed through and the cross cut in the device remains closed. Ideally the material used would be silicon based as it allows for the most flexibility in its lightweight material as well as the ability to have the cross cut in the middle of the device remain closed after the cufflink is passed through. The process involved is to take a sheet of 1 mm silicon and using a round cutter that is 25 mm in diameter, cut the circle form the sheet of plastic. A cross cutting die is then placed in the center of the circle and is used to make the cross cut in the center of the circle that is 12 mm on both legs. The device is complete.

Process of Using the Invention

The device is placed between the folds of the shirt with cufflink tail passed through the shirt's exterior buttonhole, the device, and through the remaining buttonholes until it extends past the interior of the shirt sleeve. The tail is closed in whatever manner it employs to remain fastened to the shirt and the shirt remains closed with the device in-between the cufflink's head and tail pieces. In the event that the head or tail of the cufflink becomes disengaged from its buttonhole, the device ensures that the cufflink remains fastened to the shirt.

Claims

1. The invention keeps a cufflink from falling out a shirt that uses a cufflink in order to remain closed. There are no devices that are patented that perform this function.
