SHOWER ARM SECURING DEVICE
A shower arm-securing device for securing the placement of a shower arm comprising: an opening in the center of the device; an outer perimeter; an inner perimeter, where the inner perimeter is tapered from the opening and meets the outer perimeter; and a set screw, where the set screw secures the device to a shower arm. The shower arm-securing device may also include an adhesive surface on the backside that abuts the wall surrounding the shower arm.
1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a device used to secure a shower arm and to provide additional support.
2. Description of Related Art
A shower provides a means for the user to clean and wash their hair and body parts and is usually installed over a bathtub or other enclosure. The showerhead extends from an arm that projects from the shower wall. The shower arm connects to the water supply behind the wall area and supplies a means for the flow of water through the showerhead. The shower arm protrudes outwardly from the wall and occasionally must require an anchor or other support means to keep the shower arm in a stationary position. In order to allow access for the shower arm, many times tiles must be removed along the wall area surrounding the arm where the arm protrudes from the wall. Foam and other devices may be placed around the opening to secure the arm in the stationary position after the initial hole is made. Consequently, it would be advantageous to have a device that slides over the shower arm and abuts the wall to secure the shower arm in a stationary position.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to a shower arm-securing device for securing the placement of a shower arm comprising: an opening in the center of the device; an outer perimeter; an inner perimeter, where the inner perimeter is tapered from the opening and meets the outer perimeter; and a set screw, where the set screw secures the device to a shower arm. The shower arm-securing device may also include an adhesive surface on the backside that abuts the wall surrounding the shower arm.
The present invention relates to a shower arm-securing device that secures a shower arm as it protrudes out of the wall. The shower arm-securing device according to the present invention slides over the shower arm and abuts flush against the wall while it surrounds the opening around the shower arm. This shower arm-securing device provides a simple sleeve-like device that slides over the arm to help protect and secure the arm as it protrudes from the wall surface.
The arm-securing device is placed onto the shower arm by removing a showerhead from the shower arm along with any flange trim. Then the shower arm is inserted through the Opening 18 and the arm-securing device slides around the base of the shower arm until the device abuts the wall or tile surface. The surface of the securing device that abuts the wall may include adhesive or other material to adhere the securing device in place. Once the device is in place the setscrew may be tightened to firmly secure the arm-securing device over the shower arm. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
Claims
1. A shower arm-securing device for securing the placement of a shower arm comprising:
- a. an opening in the center of the device;
- b. an outer perimeter;
- c. an inner perimeter, where the inner perimeter is tapered from the opening and meets the outer perimeter; and
- d. a set screw, where the set screw secures the device to a shower arm
2. The shower arm-securing device according to claim 1, where device includes an adhesive surface on the backside thereof, wherein said backside abuts the wall surrounding the shower arm.
3. The shower arm-securing device according to claim 1, where arm-securing device is comprised of PVC material measuring 2 inches wide, one quarter of an inch thick with a 13/16 inch opening.
