DESIGN CONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR ELASTIC PAVEMENT
Disclosed is a process for construction of a design for elastic pavement of a road or sidewalk. The process includes: grinding rubber chips into fine pieces, admixing the ground chip pieces with a urethane binder, heat curing the mixture to prepare a mat block, and slicing the prepared mat block to form logo blocks of desired design; grinding rubber chips into fine pieces, admixing the ground chip pieces with a urethane binder, in-situ paving a road or sidewalk with the mixture, and leveling the paved road or sidewalk; and adhering a binder to a bottom of the logo block and placing the logo block on desired positions of the paved road or sidewalk before the paved road or sidewalk being cured, heating the paved road or sidewalk to fix the logo block to the paved road or sidewalk while leveling the same.
The present invention relates to design construction in elastic pavement of roads and/or sidewalks and, more particularly, to a process for in-situ construction of design in elastic pavement, which includes separately preparing the design and simply inserting the prepared design into a paved road and/or sidewalk at a job site during paving.
BACKGROUND ARTAs shown in
In this regard, the conventional process for construction of a design has several problems in that a mold is previously and separately fabricated and is then removed at a job site and, in addition, there is a difficulty in fabricating molds for complicated designs.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION Technical ProblemTherefore, the present invention is directed to solve conventional problems described above and an object of the present invention is to provide a process for constructing a design in elastic pavement without using a mold, in order to directly insert the design into a paved road or sidewalk during paving.
Solution to ProblemAs an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a process for constructing a design in elastic pavement, including:
grinding rubber chips into fine pieces, admixing the ground chip pieces with a urethane binder, heat curing the mixture to prepare a mat block, and slicing the prepared mat block to form logo blocks having a desired design;
grinding rubber chips into fine pieces, admixing the ground chip pieces with a urethane binder, in-situ paving a road or sidewalk with the mixture, and leveling the paved road or sidewalk; and
adhering a binder to a bottom of the logo block and placing the logo block on desired positions of the paved road or sidewalk before the paved road or sidewalk is cured, heating the paved road or sidewalk to fix the logo block to the paved road or sidewalk while leveling the same.
Advantageous Effects of InventionThe process for constructing a design in elastic pavement according to the present invention enables in-situ insertion of separately prepared logo designs into a paved road or sidewalk without using a mold for in-situ construction of designs, thereby simplifying insertion of logo designs.
The above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Hereinafter, an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described in greater detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, this embodiment is proposed for illustrative purpose only and those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications and variations may be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. Therefore, the true technical scope of the present invention should be defined only by the appended claims and their equivalents.
MODE FOR THE INVENTIONHereinafter, the exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described by the following description with reference to
Rubber chips such as polyurethane rubber chips, ethylene propylene (EPDM) rubber chips, waste tire rubber chips, etc., are used. After grinding rubber chips having desired color into fine pieces with a size of 2 to 5 mm, the ground pieces are admixed with a urethane binder, followed by heat curing the mixture to prepare a mat block. The mat block is then sliced to prepare logo or design blocks, referred to herein as a “logo block” 30.
For pavement of a sidewalk, rubber chips such as polyurethane rubber chips, EPDM rubber chips, waste tire rubber chips, etc., are ground into pieces having a size of 2 to 5 mm. Adding 18 to 25% by weight (“wt. %”) of urethane binder to 100 wt. % of the prepared pieces, the obtained mixture is added while in-situ paving the sidewalk, followed by leveling the paved sidewalk 10.
Before the paved sidewalk 10 is cured, a binder is applied to a bottom of the logo block 30 and the logo block is placed on a desired position of the sidewalk. Using a heat roll, heat processing is performed to fix the logo block to the paved sidewalk while leveling the same.
As a result, the logo block 30 with the logo design is inserted into the paved sidewalk during paving. The leveling is performed so that a top side of the logo block is level with a block without logo design.
Claims
