Abstract

A travel luggage includes: a luggage body including a case and a cover, the case having a case base wall and a case surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of the case base wall and defining an opening opposite to the case base wall, the cover openably covering the opening and having a cover base wall and a cover surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of the cover base wall and that is hinged to the case surrounding wall; at least two belt loops respectively disposed on outer surfaces of the case and the cover; and a belt unit passing through the belt loops and disposed around outer surfaces of the case and the cover.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a portable case, more particularly to a travel luggage.

2. Description of the Related Art

A travel luggage is used for carrying clothes and other personal belongings when people go traveling. While clothes and personal stuffs are usually packed in the travel luggage lying down horizontally, the travel luggage is generally in an upright position for being dragged around. Thus, if the travel luggage is not completely filled with the clothes and personal stuffs such that there is unused space left, when the travel luggage is turned from a horizontal position to the upright position for being dragged, the clothes and personal stuffs will move downwardly to the bottom portion of the travel luggage due to gravity. This can lead to a tendency of the travel luggage to burst at a zipper portion, such that a case and a cover of the travel luggage connected by the zipper portion will be separated. Therefore, a belt is often used to bind the travel luggage at a middle portion of the travel luggage to prevent separation of the case from the cover.

However, in case that the travel luggage is made of soft materials, the bottom portion of the travel luggage will expand outwardly due to downward movement of the clothes and personal stuffs when the travel luggage is dragged in the upright position such that there is much more unused space left in the top portion. When such travel luggage subsequently lies down horizontally and is stacked in the freight hold of an airplane, the top portion with no support provided by the packed clothes and personal stuffs is much more likely to be pressed and deformed during the transport process. Moreover, if the travel luggage has a design of expandable storage space, the deformation and damage will be more severe. Besides, when the belt for binding the travel luggage is used, the belt tends to slip to the top portion and even escape from the travel luggage.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a travel luggage which is convenient to use without the abovementioned problems encountered by the prior art.

According to this invention, there is provided a travel luggage comprising: a luggage body including a case and a cover, the case having a case base wall and a case surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of the case base wall and defining an opening opposite to the case base wall, the cover openably covering the opening and having a cover base wall and a cover surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of the cover base wall and that is hinged to the case surrounding wall;

at least two belt loops respectively disposed on outer surfaces of the case and the cover; and

a belt unit passing through the belt loops and disposed around outer surfaces of the case and the cover.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a travel luggage according to the preferred embodiment of this invention, which can be used for accommodating articles such as clothes and other stuffs, includes a luggage body 3, at least two belt loops 4 and a belt unit 5.

The luggage body 3 includes a case 31 and a cover 32. Preferably, both of the case 31 and the cover 32 are rectangular in shape. The case 31 has a case base wall 310 and a case surrounding wall 311. The case surrounding wall 311 extends transversely from a periphery of the case base wall 310 and defines an opening opposite to the case base wall 310. The cover 32 openably covers the opening, and has a cover base wall 320 and a cover surrounding wall 321 that extends transversely from a periphery of the cover base wall 320 and that is hinged to the case surrounding wall 311.

In this embodiment, the cover surrounding wall 321 of the cover 32 is hinged to the case surrounding 311 of the case 31 via a zipper 30. However, since there are many other alternatives for hinging the cover 32 to the case 31 known in the art, and since the hinge mechanism of the cover 32 to the case 31 is not the essential feature of the present invention, a detailed description of such hinge mechanism is omitted herein.

As shown in FIGS. 2-4, the at least two belt loops 4 are respectively disposed on outer surfaces of the case 31 and the cover 32. Preferably, as shown in this embodiment, the travel luggage has four belt loops 4. Two of the belt loops 4 are disposed on one side of the luggage body 3, and the other two of the belt loops 4 are disposed on another side of the luggage body 3 opposite to the one side. More preferably, two of the belt loops 4 are respectively disposed on the case surrounding wall 311 and the cover surrounding wall 321 at one side of the luggage body 3, and the other two of the belt loops 4 are respectively disposed on the case surrounding wall 311 and the cover surrounding wall 321 at the other side of the luggage body 3 opposite to the one side.

Alternatively, two of the belt loops 4 may be disposed respectively on the case base wall 310, and the other two of the belt loops 4 may be disposed on the cover base wall 320.

Moreover, the four belt loops 4 respectively disposed at two sides of the luggage body 3 are located close to the middle portions of the case 31 and the cover 32. Besides, each of these belt loops 4 has two ends adapted to be fixed on the case 31 or the cover 32 in one of the abovementioned manners and is in a shape of the letter C. In addition, each of these belt loops 4 defines a through hole 40 together with the case 31 or the cover 32 on which it is disposed.

Alternatively, the travel luggage of this invention may have only two belt loops 4, which may be diagonally disposed on the case 31 of the one side of the luggage body 3 and the cover 32 of the other side of the luggage body 3, respectively.

The belt unit 5 passes through the belt loops 4 and is disposed around outer surfaces of the case 31 and the cover 32. Preferably, the belt unit 5 includes a belt 50 passing through the belt loops 4 and two fasteners 51 respectively attached to two ends of the belt 50. Optionally, the belt 50 may be an elastic belt. Additionally, the two fasteners 51 may be male and female buckle fasteners. Alternatively, the two fasteners 51 may be disengageably connected to each other, such as hook-and-loop (Velcro®) fasteners.

When using the travel luggage of the present invention, users can pack clothes and personal stuffs into it and then engage the cover 32 to the case 31 via the zipper 30, followed by passing the belt 50 through the through holes 40 of the belt loops 4 to surround the outer surfaces of the case 31 and the cover 32, and engaging the two fasteners 51 with each other so as to firmly bind the case 31 and the cover 32 together. The belt 50 is retained within the through holes 40 of the belt loops 4, such that even when the luggage body 3 is pressed to result in deformation, the belt 50 will remain in place by means of the belt loops 4 without dropping out from the luggage body 3. Hence, by virtue of the travel luggage of this invention, security of the connection between the case 31 and the cover 32 can be greatly improved so as to prevent the belt 51 from becoming loose and so as to avoid bursting of the travel luggage.

While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretations and equivalent arrangements.

Claims

1. A travel luggage, comprising:

a luggage body including a case and a cover, said case having a case base wall and a case surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of said case base wall and defining an opening opposite to said case base wall, said cover openably covering said opening and having a cover base wall and a cover surrounding wall that extends transversely from a periphery of said cover base wall and that is hinged to said case surrounding wall;

at least two belt loops respectively disposed on outer surfaces of said case and said cover; and

a belt unit passing through said belt loops and disposed around outer surfaces of said case and said cover.

2. The travel luggage of claim 1, which comprises four of said belt loops, two of said belt loops being disposed on one side of said luggage body, the other two of said belt loops being disposed on another side of said luggage body opposite to said one side.

The travel luggage of claim 2, wherein two of said belt loops are respectively disposed on said case surrounding wall and said cover surrounding wall at said one side of said luggage body, and the other two of said belt loops are respectively disposed on said case surrounding wall and said cover surrounding wall at said another side of said luggage body opposite to said one side.

4. The travel luggage of claim 2, wherein two of said belt loops are disposed respectively on said case base wall, and the other two of said belt loops are disposed on said cover base wall.

5. The travel luggage of claim 1, wherein said belt unit includes a belt passing through said belt loops, and two fasteners respectively attached to two ends of said belt.

6. The travel luggage of claim 5, wherein said fasteners are hook-and-loop fasteners.

7. The travel luggage of claim 5, wherein said fasteners are male and female buckle fasteners.

8. The travel luggage of claim 5, wherein said belt is an elastic belt.
