Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The purpose of the present invention relates to a cover for footwear that serves to protect the footwear and the foot from water, dust, and mud from the outside without interfering with the functionality of the same. The cover adapts to the footwear by their side faces, rear, front and superior without covering the bottom of the same and reaching the top of the ankle.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Covers footwear had existed for a long time and had been modified over the years. Originally the covers were created to protect from soil and dust when the streets were not paved, then impermeable covers footwear was created that protected the footwear from the mud and water as shown in the U.S. Pat. No. 4,713,895, which refers to a cover for footwear which is attached to the footwear in some parts with hook and loop fasteners or same material of Velcro®. The cover holds the counterpart in some areas of the shoe, protecting it only from dust. As being made of Velcro®, water and mud leak through the fabric, wetting the shoe, the sock and the foot by not being attached to the entire periphery, therefore not being completely waterproof.

U.S. Pat. No. 2,099,476 which consists of an accessory that is attached to the footwear by means of a strap that passes under the sole of the footwear and has metal pins that ensure it to the soles and helps to maintain the attachment in the footwear. This attachment protects the footwear from dust by its top without being waterproof, because there are large areas between the pins, without adhering to the footwear.

U.S. Pat. No. 2,151,350 that presents a cover for footwear that ensures through several tiers which pass beneath the soles and helps to maintain the attachment of the cover to the footwear. Like the patent cited above, it presents large parts of the lower edge that they cannot grip with the shoe, allowing the entry of water and dust.

The U.S. Pat. No. 2,447,284 which refers to a cover for footwear with elastic that partially covers the footwear, leaving the heel and covering the front part of the sole, interfering with its functionality.

The U.S. Pat. No. 7,464,487 refers to covered shoes only for football heels, which have holes for them located in the footwear sole.

Many improvements have been created and perfected for the sports footwear, especially for runners seeking inter alia permeability, ventilation and protection against dust, mud and water from the outside, as riders practice in any weather condition and almost on any surface, no matter the weather, however the present inventor have not seen a cover for a footwear used to protect the footwear, but above all to protect the feet from moisture, dust and mud. There are covers for footwear for use in hospitals and for motorcyclists, but there is not any product on the market that protects from rain or mud to who practice racers on a regular basis need without interfering with the functionality of the footwear and without affecting the traction of the sole of the sports shoe.

The present invention has a double-sided adhesive tape placed on the inner side of its lower edge allowing you, in a simple step, to endorse the product and adjust it to the size of the footwear, covering from the sole periphery to the top of the ankle, helping the water, the mud and the dust to not enter the footwear and be waterproof.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention refers to a cover for footwear that is attached to the shoe with a double-side adhesive tape which is integrated to the cover the inner edge of the cover for footwear 1. The cover for footwear attaches to the footwear by its lateral sides, rear, front and superior ends.

The cover for footwear is made preferably of a laminate of lightweight plastic material such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or the families of the polyamides or the polyamide polymers, this material is porous by meso or nonporous in a manner that allows the passage of the evaporation of the sweat, but that is impervious to the passage of water, mud and dust to the inside of the shoe, thus avoiding that these elements are put in contact with the foot, which serves to protect it from the elements, without interfering with the functionality of the shoe, since the cover for footwear 1 reaches the peripheral of the sole 6 edge, without contact with the underside of the same or interferes with the traction that it provides, as well as neither interferes with the flexibility and comfort of the shoes, making the waterproof shoe and protecting the foot of the moisture, mud and dust.

The cover for footwear 1 can be used in any shoe and climatic condition, although it is designed mainly for athletic shoes, to be used in events where climatic conditions are adverse to competitors, steeplechase races, or field obstacles races.

As already mentioned, the cover for footwear uses a double-sided adhesive tape 2 and 3, located in the internal perimeter of the same cover for footwear 1, same is constrained to the side edge of the sole which makes the covers for the footwear 5 sealed inside the cover for footwear 1. The lateral part of footwear is sealed also with double-sided tape 3 on the outer side of the foot from the edge of the sole 6 to the top of the ankle where the strap 4 is located. The tape has a removable liner (not shown in the figures) to protect the tape before the use and should be remove prior to attaching to the footwear.

At the upper edge of the cover for footwear 1 is a strap 4 that adjusts the size of the cover for footwear. By pulling the strap 4 to where the user wants and knotting the strap, at the height of the upper part of the ankle and the outer part of the same. The cover for footwear adapts and adjusts to the size of any shoe, depending on the user, being preferably disposable/biodegradable.
