Underarm pouch for personal electronic devices
The invention claimed herein and depicted in FIGS. 1 through 6 presents a holster-style carrying pouch for personal items. It can be worn on either the left or right side of the torso at the discretion of the user by using either the reverse or obverse face. The configuration of the device allows lower pouch 2 accessibility from both the obverse and reverse faces of the device. Lower pouch flap 16 can be selectively closed over either the obverse or reverse face of lower pouch pocket 2, which can be secured while closed via closures 20 (FIGS. 1 and 4). Pencil/pen holders 14 are also provided on both faces of the device. Main strap 6 is placed around the wearer's shoulder. Secondary strap 8 can be draped across the opposite shoulder or torso by attaching its terminal ends to attachment rings 26. A third configuration is possible by draping secondary strap 8 around the wearer's waist and securing its terminal ends onto waist strap rings 34 via securing means 28. Main and secondary straps can be adjusted for length using said securing means at their terminal ends or via adjustment buckles 18. Upper pouch 4 can be removed from main strap 6 by releasing securing means 36 and sliding attachment loop 22 away from said strap. This allows upper pouch 4 to be utilized separately as a carrying case or secured to a belt, purse or luggage strap via attachment loop 22.
This application is preceded by provisional patent U.S. 61/397,305 filed on Jun. 10, 2010 which embodies the present design.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis invention pertains to devices that provide a holder for storing and carrying portable electronic devices and other personal items. Past inventions have demonstrated a variety of carrying cases for personal electronic devices and other personal items. These references do not provide the convenience and versatility of the invention presented herein.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThis invention depicted herein consists of a multi-compartment pouch which can comfortably conform to the shape of the wearer's torso and be secured in place by multi-position straps.
Said straps can be alternatively mounted by the user as shoulder only or shoulder/waist straps. A removable multi-compartment secondary pouch can be mounted onto any of these straps or as separate carrying case. It features a window to allow viewing and operation of personal electronic devices placed therein. Pouches feature flaps for securing items within the compartments. For added convenience, the entire unit is reversible for wearing on either side of the torso.
Window 12 within the obverse face of upper pouch 4 allows viewing of contents in upper compartment 30, such as a cell phone or PDA display. In the preferred embodiment, upper pouch can be either permanently affixed onto the upper vertical member pouch 4, or configured as a removable structure as shown in

Claims
1. A holster-like device for carrying personal items fabricated from flat sheets of a flexible material, featuring a plurality of compartments and securing strap means, consisting of:
- a) A U-shaped main body comprising a central sheet, with a plurality of outer sheets permanently affixed around the perimeter edges to the obverse and reverse faces of said central sheet, in such fashion as to form a plurality of compartments between said sheets;
- b) A plurality of rings fabricated from either a rigid or flexible material, which are permanently affixed onto the terminal ends of said main body's vertical members and at the posterior corners of the main body's horizontal member;
- c) A plurality of removable straps with detachable mounting means at their terminal ends, which can be attached to the aforementioned rings in such fashion as to provide shoulder, neck, torso and/or waist straps.
2. The device as stated in claim 1, with the inclusion of:
- a) A removable pouch formed from a plurality of sheets bonded in such fashion as to yield a plurality of inner compartments which are open at their anterior ends and covered by a flap, with said pouch featuring an aperture on its obverse face and a loop affixed to its reverse face which can slide onto the aforementioned straps or either of the vertical members of the main body;
- b) A reversible flap which acts as a covering means for the aforementioned main body compartments, formed by an elongated anterior center portion of the central sheet's horizontal member, which extends of sufficient height above the outer sheets as to allow alternate folding over to the obverse or reverse face of the aforementioned outer sheets; and
- c) A plurality of temporary fastener means affixed onto the aforementioned flaps which engage corresponding fastener means affixed onto the exterior faces of the main body and removable pouch.
3. The device as stated in claim 1, with the inclusion of:
- a) A securing means affixed onto the reverse face of the aforementioned removable pouch which allows said pouch to be held firmly onto a vertical member of the main body or any strap when installed onto these components;
- b) A plurality of pockets, affixed onto the external surfaces of the aforementioned outer sheets of the main body, which are of sufficient dimension to accommodate storage of writing instruments; and
- c) A plurality of adjustment buckles affixed onto shoulder, neck and waist straps which allow adjustment of length of said straps.
