Abstract

Kan Pia Baccarat is a modified baccarat card game using at least one deck or multi decks standard playing card in a live casino game table or electronic device, such as computer, slots machine, video machine, interne, etc., to provide a playing strategy as poker card game and side bets; such as, a two steps wagering method, wagering on engage side bets, five cards poker hand side bets and tie side bet; it provides players a choice to raise the bet or fold the hand.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application is based on and claims the benefit of United States Patent Application 20120181749 filed on Jan. 18, 2011 entitled “Kan Pia Baccarat”.

BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates generally to card games, such as, conventional poker and baccarat and Blackjack'n Baccarat with Jokers.

2. Description of Related Arts

The object of the traditional Baccarat card game is to receive a hand value close to 9. The game is designed into two major betting areas said Banker hand and Player hand with a side bet area said, tie. It is using multi-decks of standard playing cards. An ace has a value of 1 or 11 in blackjack game and a value of 1 in baccarat game. Cards 2 through 9 have point values equal to their face values. (E.g. 2 of spades has a point value 2) 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings have a point value of zero when it is a part of component in baccarat game and a point value of ten in blackjack game.

In traditional Baccarat card game, two cards are first dealt to player's hand and two cards are first dealt to banker's hand. An additional card may be dealt depending on the total numerical value of two cards of the “Player hand” and “Banker hand” respectively. Each player invests a desired amount of money in either Banker hand or Player hand of two designed betting areas in order to start a particular round of games.

A two-card point total of 9 is called a “natural” and this is the highest value hand cannot lose. A two-card point total of 8 is also called a “natural” and this is second-highest value hand. In the event of a tie between the Player's hand and the Banker's hand neither the Banker nor the Player wins. By comparing the total numerical value of the Banker and Player, the party having a higher total numerical value will be the winning party. The patron who invested the amount of money in the winning said Player hand or Banker hand would be paid even money from the house (casino). The patron who invested the amount of money in the winning said tie would be paid 8 to 1. There is a 5% commission has to paid to the casino when the Banker wins.

When the player stands on 6 or 7, the banker will always draw on totals of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and stands on 6, 7, 8, and 9. When player does not have 6, 7, natural 8 or natural 9, and has to draw the third card, the banker shall always draw on the totals of 0, 1, or 2, and then follows the rules.

(a) If banker has 3 and player's third card is 8, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(b) If banker has 4 and player's third card is 1, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(c) If banker has 5 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(d) If banker has 6 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card.

Conventional poker is a card game that share betting rules and usually (but not always) hand rankings. The object of the five cards poker game is attempting to make the highest ranking five card poker hand.

In most modern poker games, the first round of betting begins with some form of forced bet. Each player in turn must either match the maximum previous bet or fold, losing the amount bet so far and all further interest in the hand. A player who matches a bet may also raise, increasing the bet. The betting round ends when all players have either matched the last bet or folded.

• Jones, Daniel A. U.S. Pat. No. 5,964,464: Methods of playing poker games states, “affording each player an option to either fold and lose their ante wager, or call and continue play by placing a bet wager, wherein said bet wager mandatory equals twice said ante wager;”
• Carrico, Travis U.S. Pat. No. 6,416,407 states, “a multi-draw poker are disclosed which is played in a manner somewhat similar to traditional five card draw poker, but in which a player is given the opportunity to make additional wagers and additional draws.”
• Lucente, Jon, United States Patent Application 20090315262 is teaching both player and dealer split the initial five cards dealt to them into two separate hands, a baccarat hand and a poker hand.
• Ritzer, Sandy A, U.S. Pat. No. 7,114,724 teaches each player and dealer are dealt three cards to play poker card game and baccarat card game.
• Chen, Huichuan U.S. Pat. No. 7,404,560 is teaching use the same cards dealt to banker hand and player hand in traditional baccarat card game to bet on the blackjack hand as a side bet.

Kan Pia Baccarat card game offers patrons betting on the result of 5 cards formed a conventional poker hand that is dealt to banker hand and player hand and using poker playing strategy to play baccarat card game as following:

Ante means: A forced bet required, in some types of poker, of all players before the hand begins.
Fold means: To discard one's hand and forfeit interest in the current pot.
Raise means: To bet more than minimum after a bet has been made, therefore increasing the size of the bet required for players (patrons) to stay in hand

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention, Kan Pia Baccarat is a modified baccarat card game that using poker card game playing method to play baccarat card game. It provides side bets, such as engage bets including total number of tie hand, total number of banker hand, total number of player hand and total number burn cards, five cards poker hand and tie. The object of Kan Pia Baccarat is playing two card games in one sitting, adding more ways of winning on Baccarat card game part and without drawing excess cards on poker card game part.

However, patrons would not be dealt any cards for them to play the game as the poker card game. The poker hand side bets is played based on the outcomes of 5 cards dealt to design betting spots of Player hand and Banker hand. There is no player (patron) playing against other player (patron) activities and procedure get involve as playing traditional poker card game. Kan Pia baccarat card game provides an optional chance for patrons to manage their wagers through the decision of fold the hand or raise their bets as the playing strategy of poker game. The 5 cards poker hand side bet is not taking any extra cards out of the shoe; it is playing the traditional baccarat card game.

In traditional baccarat card game, a multiple number of decks (six or eight) of standard playing cards, 52 in number without a joker are used; typically eight decks are shuffled together and placed in a shoe from which the cards are dealt during the play of the game. Kan Pia Baccarat card game will reduce the amount of playing cards use to four decks without jokers to speed up the time of dealing and playing.

The Kan Pia Baccarat card game is allowing patrons to play two games in one sitting based on the rules of baccarat card game and use the strategy of poker card game to manage their wager.

When the game is using baccarat rules, the aces count as one. Kings, Queens, Jacks and Tens count as zero and the other cards count their respective face value. The suits, Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs, have no meaning in Kan Pia Baccarat.

When the game is using baccarat card game rules, the aces count as one. Kings, Queens, Jacks and Tens count as ten and the other cards count their respective face value. The suits, Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs, have no meaning in Kan Pia Baccarat card game. The highest hand value in Kan Pia Baccarat is nine. All hand values range from a low of zero to a high of nine.

When the total pip number on the cards added together is exceeds nine, the hand value is determined as ten; but also means zero because the tenth digit is not used.
For example, a seven and eight total fifteen, drop the digit on tenth place, the hand value is five. Any hand having a value that is ten or a multiple of ten is zero.
For example, an Ace and a nine total ten, but the hand value is zero.

Engage bet is a side bet. Patrons have to place the wager before the game start. There are four different bets,

betting on the total number of cards will be Burn before dealer dealing first hand,
betting on the total number of Tie hands will be after the whole shoe is finished,
betting on the total number of Banker hands will be after the whole shoe is finished, and
betting on the total number of Player hands will be after the whole shoe is finished.
Patrons have to place the bet on a pre-assumed chart or on the table layout where is a designed betting spot for engage bet before house dealer burn the cards.
This bonus payout will be 20 to 1 for exactly number, 10 to 1 for one off, 5 to 1 for two off, and even for three off; or house offer.
There are designed engage buttons with different number from 1 to 100 on each one for marking the engage bet.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

The design of table layout of Kan Pia Baccarat is based on the layout of traditional baccarat game. It is adding a 5 cards poker hand and Engage side bet spots. Each player hand and banker hand has a betting spot of ante and raise.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Rules of Kan Pia Baccarat:

1. House dealer deals first initial card to Player hand and Banker hand after patrons place the wager on betting spots
2. Allowing patrons to play the hand or fold the hand
3. Deal second initial card to Player hand and Banker hand
4. Resolving the side bets, 5 cards poker hand
5. Resolving the winning hand and losing hand according to the rules of Kan Pia baccarat
(a) If the initial two card Player hand has a point total of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, the Player hand draws a third card. If the initial two-card Player hand has a point total of 6 or 7, the Player hand stands and does not receive a third card.
(b) If the Player hand stands and does not draw a third card, then the Banker hand follows Rules. In other words, if the Player hand has a point total of 6 or 7, the Banker hand draws a third card on a point total of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 and the Banker hand stands on a point total of 6 or 7.
(c) If the Player hand draws a third card, the Banker hand must draw or stand in accordance with rules that are well known.
(c.1) The banker hand shall always draw on the totals of 0, 1, or 2, and stand on 7, natural 8, or natural 9.
(c.2) If banker has 3 and player's third card is 8, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(c.3) If banker has 4 and player's third card is 1, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(c.4) If banker has 5 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card.
(c.5) If banker has 6 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot drew the third card.
(d) If there is no wager on tie and 5 cards poker side bets and no patrons place wager on raise after first one of initial two cards are dealt to player hand and banker hand, house dealer will still deal the second initial card and follow the rules to draw additional cards to Player hand and Banker hand and lock the cards and start a new game.

The patrons have the option to select betting on 5 cards poker and tie with ante wager on the banker hand or player hand.

The patrons cannot place the bet on 5 cards poker and tie without interest in placing ante wager on the banker hand or player hand.

The game is played with 6 or 8 decks of regular 52-card playing card, hence there are 208 cards for 4 decks Kan Pia baccarat, 312 cards for 6 decks Kan Pia baccarat and 416 cards for 8 decks Kan Pia Baccarat. Each deck contains four suits of ace, king, queen, jack, ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, and two.

Ace through Nine cards has respective point values of 1 to 9. Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings have a point value of zero. Ace also has a respective point 1 or 11. Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings also have a point value of 10.

Tie is a hand value of both player hand and banker hand have an equal point that is a total point value of first two cards or first two cards plus one additional card. When a total hand value of either player or banker hand is ten, or over ten, the digit on the ten's place is ignored when determining a hand value of either player or banker hand. Hence, the higher value of a hand can get is 9. The hand with the higher value wins.

Kan Pia Baccarat card game offers patrons wagering on traditional poker hand to be eligible to receive a corresponding bonus payout. Poker hand is formed from a total five cards dealt to Player hand and Banker hand that contains conventional poker hands with conventional poker ranking system.

However, each individual patron does not get to deal their own hand as traditional poker card game.

If the banker hand was the winner, the patrons who won must pay a 5% commission on their winnings.

Kan Pia Baccarat card game can also be playing with jokers. The total number of eight decks with jokers will be 424. The rules and payouts remain the same as Kan Pia Baccarat without Jokers card game. Except the joker will be the winning cards; the hand gets a joker wins over nature 9 and nature 8.

House dealer deals the game follow the procedure as below:

(a) shuffle cards according to house way.
(b) requiring patrons place the engage bets before flapping the first card of the whole shoe to determine how many cards should be burn. How many cards should be burn before deals the cards to Player hand and Banker hand is depend on the number on the first card being pull out of the shoe, for example, the first card being pull out of the shoe is a ten, dealer then has to pull ten cards out of shoe and lay them on the table face up showing to patrons, then lock them in discard rack.
(c) deals the cards to player hand and banker hand after patrons place wager on designed betting spots such as, Tie, BJ, Banker Ante and Player Ante.
(d) if there no wagers on Tie and BJ and no wager place on Raise, the game is over, dealer will lock the two cards dealt to player hand and banker hand.
(f) if patron has wager on either Tie or 5 cards poker, but does not want to play the Raise, dealer will collect the wager on ante; and continue deal the game according to the rules of traditional baccarat card game.
(g) the 5 cards poker wager will be pay based on the payout table or will be take away according to the rules of Kan Pia baccarat.

Engage Bet is betting on the total number of cards will be burn before dealer dealing first hand, the total number of tie hands will be after the whole shoe is finished, the total number of banker hands will be after the whole shoe is finished, and the total number of player hands will be after the whole shoe is finished; patrons have to place the bet on a pre-assumed chart before house dealer burns the cards; these bonus payout will be 20 to 1 for exactly match number, 10 to 1 for one number off, 5 to 1 for two numbers off, and even for three numbers off or casino offer.

Engage Bet Dealing Procedure:

1. Dealer opens buy in for number of burning cards, number of tie hands, number of banker hands and number of player hands before pull the first card out of the shoe.
2. Providing different buttons with names, exact number, off one, off two and off three and place them on top of the wager according to patron's order. For example, patron wants to bet the exact number of banker hands; dealer should place the wager on the letter B and put exact number button on top of the wager. This betting will not get pay or take away until the shoe is finished.
3. After all the engage bets are set, dealer will start cushion the cards by pulling first number card out of the shoe, then pulling exactly number of card out of the shoe that is show on the first number card. These cards will be face up lay on the table.
4. Dealer should pay or take the engage bet, burning cards, according to the rules of Kan Pia baccarat and the payout table.
5. The rest of engage bets, number of tie hands, number of banker hands and number of player hands, will be pay or take at the end of the shoe when they are resulted.

The Engage Bet and 5 cards poker hand side bets are also apply to conventional baccarat card game.

Conventional baccarat card game is playing with 8 decks of standard playing cards that prolong the playing time. Kan Pia baccarat with 5 cards poker hand can speed up the playing through using 4 decks of playing card only, and increasing the house advantage through offering 5 cards poker hand side bet bonus. Claims

1. A method of playing a Kan Pia baccarat card game with multi decks of standard playing cards is playing in a live casino game table or electronic device, such as computer, slots machine, video machine, internet, etc., comprising:

(a) providing a table layout print with two designed hands said Player position and Banker position, three side bet wagering spots said, Engage bets include total number of burn cards, total number of tie bets, total number of blackjack hand, total number of player hands and total number of banker hands, Tie and 5 cards poker hand, and main wagering spots said Player Hand and Banker Hand which contains Ante wagering spot and additional wagering spots named, even x2 Raise on a live game table or an video machine;

(b) providing a conventional poker card game playing strategy said allowing patron fold the hand and raise the wager and conventional poker hand ranking system with a payout table and traditional baccarat game rules and playing method;

(c) requiring each patron places wager on either Player hand or Banker hand, with or without optional side bet wagers on 5 cards poker hand bet or tie bet before dealer deals any cards; requiring each patron place wager on any Engage Bet before the house dealer burn the cards;

(d) providing a dealing procedure, said requiring dealer deals first card of two initial cards face up to each designed areas, Player hand and Banker hand; then waiting for respond from patrons, fold the hand or raise the bet, then dealing second card of two initial cards face up to each designed areas, Player hand and Banker hand;

(e) providing a traditional baccarat card game rule with conventional poker card game rule, comparing Player hand with the Banker hand using traditional baccarat card game point system and rules and inspect the 5 cards poker hand based on conventional poker hand ranking system to determine win or lose of 5 cards poker side bet;

(f) resolving bets, based on the rules of traditional baccarat to pay or take the wager on Player and Banker bet; engage side bets are pay or take according to the payout table and the final result of the hands;

(g) providing at least one deck or multi-decks of playing cards, wherein each deck of playing cards comprises four suits of cards, each suit including a Two card, a Three card, a Four card, a Five card, a Six card, a Seven card, an Eight card, a Nine card, a Ten card, a Jack card, a Queen card, a King card, and an Ace card;

(h) assigning point values to the cards in the Banker hand and in the Player hand according to traditional Baccarat rules, wherein the Ace through Nine cards having respective point values of 1 through 9, the tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings all having a point value of 0;

(i) permitting each patron the option of placing bets on one or more side bets that include the Engage bets, number of burn cards, number of player hands and number of banker hand, Tie bet and 5 cards poker hand;

(j) determining the point total of the initial two-card Banker hand and the initial two-card Player hand by summing up points of each of the initial two-card Banker hand and the initial two-card Player hand;

(k) dealing additional cards to the Banker hand position and to the Player hand position if necessary according to Baccarat rules;

(l) determining the final point totals of the Banker hand the Player hand according to Baccarat rules wherein if the sum of two or three cards in a hand exceeds 10, only the last Digit (one's place) is used in determining the final point total and 9 is the highest point;

(m) comparing the final point totals of the Banker hand and the Player hand, the hand having the higher point total being the winning hand, an initial two-card having a point total of 9, called a natural 9, is the highest hand, and an initial two-card hand having a point total of 8, also called a natural 8, is the second highest hand;

(n) resolving (collecting) the wager on 5 cards poker side bet when there is no drawing additional card to Player hand or Banker hand needed;

(o) paying-off patrons that placed bets on a winning hand; collecting wager from patrons that placed bets on the lower point total;

(p) resolving the wager on 5 cards poker hand side bet after the Baccarat card game is played in steps (g)-(o);

(q) paying-off patrons that placed side bets on the Tie betting spot when the Player hand and the Banker hand have the same final point totals;

(r) paying-off patrons who wagered on 5 cards poker side bet according to a payout table, or collect the wager when there is no poker hand occur;

(s) paying-off or collect wager from patrons who placed side bets on engage bet when the whole shoe is finished playing;

(t) shuffling at least one deck or multi decks of cards by shuffle machine before dealing the game when the game is playing on a live game table and/or a Video poker baccarat machine stores a signal representation of one or more standard decks of 52 cards that providing a video image of at least four cards and up to six cards randomly dealt to a player depositing a wager into the machine;

2. The playing method claim 1, comprising, Kan Pia baccarat card game using at least one deck and/or multi decks standard playing card is complying the conventional baccarat game rule that require Player stands on 6 and Banker stand on 7;

when Player hand stands on 6 or 7, Banker hand will always draw on totals of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and stands on 6, 7, 8, and 9;

when Player hand does not have 6, 7, natural 8 or natural 9, and has to draw the third card, Banker hand shall always draw on the totals of 0, 1, or 2, and then follows the rules:

(a) If banker has 3 and player's third card is 8, the banker cannot draw the third card,

(b) If banker has 4 and player's third card is 1, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card,

(c) If banker has 5 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card,

(d) If banker has 6 and player's third card is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, or 0, the banker cannot draw the third card;

3. the playing method claim 1, comprising, provides different side bets named, Engage Bets, Tie bet, and 5 cards poker hand bet;

Engage Bet has four different hands as following,

(a) Number of burn card: it is betting on the total number of cards will be burn before dealer dealing first hand,

(b) Number of Player hand: it is betting on the total number of player hands will be after the whole shoe is finished

(c) Number of Banker hand: it is betting on the total number of banker hands will be after the whole shoe is finished

(d) Number of Tie: it is betting on the total number of tie hands will be after the whole shoe is finished

Engage bets bonus payout will be 20 to 1 for exactly number, 10 to 1 for one off, 5 to 1 for two off; Tie bet is the tradition side bet of conventional baccarat, pays 8 to 1;

Five cards poker hand bet is betting on the contains of five cards dealt to both Player hand and Banker hand forming a conventional poker hand, said, a pair, two pairs, three of a kind, straight, flush, straight flush, four of a kind, and royal flush; conventional poker hand is always consist five cards;

Royal Flush is Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10, all of the same suit,

Straight Flush is a straight, 5 cards in order, such as 7-8-9-10-J, are all same suit,

Four of a Kind is four cards of the same rank like four Aces or Four Kings,

Full House is a three of a kind and a pair, such as K-K-K-2-2,

Flush is a hand where all of the cards are the same suit,

Straight—Five cards in rank order, but not of the same suit, it can be any combination of the four suits; for example, 2-3-4-5-6 is a straight,

Three of a Kind is three cards of any rank with the remaining cards, not being a pair,

Two Pair is two distinct pairs of card and a 5th card,

Pair is one pair with three distinct cards. Highest ranking pair wins.

4. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, individual playing cards are ranked from Ace as highest rank, then King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 is the lowest rank when there is a poker hand formed;

5. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, providing engage bet buttons with number from 2 to 11 for burn cards, and Tie bets buttons from 1 to 20 for tie, total number of banker hand buttons from 1 to 50, and total number player hand buttons from 1 to 50;

6. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, house dealer deal first initial card to Player hand and first initial card to Banker hand, wait for patron's respond to play the hand or fold hand; house dealer will collect the wager from the folding hand before deal the 2nd initial card, house dealer then deals the second initial card to Player hand and Banker hand; observing the total point of Player hand and Banker hand, then drawing and deal the third card to Player hand and/or Banker hand based on the rule of baccarat;

7. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, after player hand draw an additional card, the wager on five cards poker hand will be pay or been collect based on the rules of 5 cards poker side bet, when there is no poker hand formed, the wager on five cards poker will lose;

8. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, paying or collecting the wager on Engage bets, such as, total number of tie, total number of banker hand and total number of paler hand, after the last hand was dealt;

9. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, require patron wager on Ante either Banker hand or Player hand in order to participate playing side bets, and place additional wager on Even×2 raise to continue playing the game; patron will lose the wager on ante if he is not placing additional wager on the Even×2 raise;

10. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, engage best, such as, total number of tie, total number of player hand and total number of banker hand will be pay or take according to the result of the game;

11. the playing method of claim 1, comprising, each individual patrons don't get deal any cards individually to play the 5 cards poker; the 5 cards poker hand is using the cards dealt to Player hand and Banker to form the poker hands;
