Beach picnic table

Abstract

The inventive concept is a picnic table for use on a beach or any desired location. The table is constructed of a molded plastic in a round configuration, although any configuration can be used. The table is supported by central support stake that is being pushed into the ground to stabilize the same. The stake is removably attached to a circular flange under the table in its center. The central support is constructed as a round stake which is made of two telescoping sections. The sections can each be stored on the underside of the table in respective clamps.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is convenient to have some kind of support for drinks and food while lounging on the beach or any other environment. Tablets are known that are simply a horizontal platform that are placed across the arm chair of a beach chair. The is known a horizontal plate or platform that is supported by four legs and the table or platform is stabilized in a vertical manner by way of the pole of a beach umbrella which is passing through the center opening of the plate. This arrangement is not very stable when used by itself, that is, without the umbrella pole passing through the center.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The inventive concept involves a horizontal table or platform which has a flange at its bottom center and a removable stake or pole is attached to the flange. The bottom of the stake or pole is rammed into the ground at the beach, which is mostly sand. This will stabilize the stake and thereby the horizontal platform or table attaché thereto.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As explained above, FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the beach picnic table. At 1 is shown the underside of the table or platform. It is preferred to form the table 1 in a round configuration, although other configurations could be used. In the center of the underside of the table 1 there is shown a flange 7 which is of a circular configuration that is integral with table as the table or platform is molded of plastic material. The supporting stake consists of two pieces 2 and 4, whereby the part stake 2 at its bottom is kept in a cylindrical state 3 to be inserted into a cylindrical bulge 6 at the top of the lower stake 4, as is shown in FIG. 2. There is a reason to keep the supporting stake in two pieces. The bottom of the stake 4 shows a pointed end which is to be rammed or pushed into the ground at the beach. This will form a stable arrangement when fully assembled and ready for use. The table or platform 1 has at its underside clamps 8 and 8a at one side and 9 and 9a on the other side. When the picnic table is to be disassembled and stored, the stake is disconnected from the flange 7 and taken apart into two pieces 2 and 4 and the part stakes are stored in their respective clamps, one part stake in the clamps 8 and 8a and the other part stake in their respective clamps 9 and 9a.

FIG. 3 shows the underside of the picnic table 1 in an exploded view, whereby the part stakes 2 and 4 are just about to be clamped into their respective clamps.

FIG. 4 illustrates the fully dismantled picnic table with all the various elements fully stored on the underside. This makes for an easily stored table including the various elements that will stay attached when the table is transported or stored. It should also be noted that this table can be used anywhere desired as long as a ground is suitable for pushing the supporting stake into the ground. This use excludes just the use on the beach because the picnic table may be used in any other environment as long as the stake bottom can be pushed into the ground.

Claims

1. A beach picnic table constructed of a planar table having a detachable center support at its underside that can be pushed into a ground to thereby support said planar table, wherein said detachable center support is constructed of two parts telescoped within each other and wherein each of said telescoped parts is separately attached to an underside of said table.
