Target Simulating Heavy Bag Cover

A target simulating heavy bag cover comprises a sheet, a simulation image, and a fastener. The sheet wraps around the heavy bag and braces the target simulating heavy bag cover against the heavy bag. The sheet provides additionally cushioning between the user's physical attacks and the heavy bag so that the heavy bag does not deform and the physical damage to the user's body is reduced. The simulation image is printed onto the sheet and provides the user with a number of realistic targets on the human body. The simulation image allows the user to hone the accuracy of their physical attacks aiming for the targets. The fastener is used to attach one end of the sheet to the other end of the sheet once the sheet is wrapped around the heavy bag.

Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/535,928 filed on Sep. 16, 2011.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to a cover for a heavy bag that provides a user with targets to practice the accuracy of their physical attacks such as punches and kicks.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In competitive fighting such as boxing or kick boxing, the accuracy of a fighter's physical attacks are just as important to winning a match as the power of the fighter's physical attacks. A heavy bag is a punching bag that is used to practice powerful body hits, but the heavy bag does not allow a user to practice the accuracy of those powerful body hits. Thus, the objective of the present invention is to add targets to a heavy bag. The present invention is a cover that wraps around the heavy bag and has a picture to represent targets on the human body. The present invention also serves as a cushion between the user's physical attack so that the user is able to continuously practice their physical attacks without creating any deformations on the heavy bag.

FIG. 2 is a front view of the present invention with the preferred embodiment of the simulation image.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the present invention.

FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the present invention, which is wrapped around a heavy bag.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

As can be seen in FIGS. 3 and 4, the present invention is a target simulating heavy bag cover, which provides targets for a user to hit on a punching bag. The present invention allows the user to hone their aim and their fighting skills by focusing on the targets. The present invention is designed to accommodate a particular kind of punching bag known as a heavy bag, which is a larger cylindrical punching bag that is suspended by either ropes or chains. The present invention comprises a sheet 1, a fastener 7, and a simulation image 10. The sheet 1 is the primary component of the present invention that wraps around the punching bag. The simulation image 10 provides the present invention with the targets for the user to hit. The fastener 7 is used to attach one end of the sheet 1 to the other end of the sheet 1 once the sheet 1 is warped around the heavy bag.

The sheet 1 encircles the heavy bag and braces the present invention against the heavy bag. The sheet 1 comprises a wrapping surface 2, a padding layer 3, a hitting surface 4, a left end 5, and a right end 6. The wrapping surface 2 is the face of the sheet 1 that makes contact with the heavy bag. The wrapping surface 2 should have a texture that is capable of adequately gripping the heavy bag so that the present invention does not slide off the heavy bag due to gravity. The hitting surface 4 is the face of the sheet 1 that makes contact with the user's physically attacks and, thus, the hitting surface 4 should have a soft texture. The hitting surface 4 also prevents the user's sweat droplets from touching the heavy bag and prevents the heavy bag from getting damp. The wrapping surface 2 and the hitting surface 4 are positioned opposite to each other on the sheet 1. The padding layer 3 is located in between the wrapping surface 2 and the hitting surface 4. In addition to using hand wraps and the boxing gloves, the padding layer 3 further cushions the impact of the user's attacks so that the physically damage to the user's body is minimized. The padding layer 3 also reduces the physical damage to the heavy bag and prevents deformations in the heavy bag. The left end 5 is located one side of the sheet 1, and the right end 6 is located on the other side of the sheet 1. The left end 5 and the right end 6 are brought together as the sheet 1 encircles the heavy bag, which allows the left end 5 and the right end 6 to be attached to each other by the fastener 7. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sheet 1 is made of Neoprene, which is a synthetic rubber material. Neoprene is a flexible material that would allow the padding layer 3 to cushion the impact of the user's attacks, would allow the wrapping surface 2 to grip the heavy bag, and would provide the hitting surface 4 with a soft texture. Also in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the dimensions of the sheet 1 should be 24 to 36 inches by 46 to 65 inches, but the sheet 1 can be larger or smaller depending on the size of the heavy bag.

The simulation image 10, which is shown in FIG. 1, is a realistic and proportionate depiction of a opponent. The heavy bag is used to practice powerful body hits, and the simulation image 10 allows the user to train the accuracy of those powerful body hits such as punches or kicks. The simulation image 10 is printed on the center of the hitting surface 4. The simulation image 10 comprises a head target 11 and a torso target 12. The head target 11 is positioned atop the torso target 12. The head target 11 is used to practice hitting the head of an opponent. Similarly, the torso target 12 is used to practice hitting the torso of an opponent. As can be seen in FIG. 2, the torso target 12 could provide the user a number of areas to aim their physical attacks such as the abdominal area of the torso, the laterally area of the torso, and the pectoral area of the torso.

The fastener 7 provides the sheet 1 with a means to stay encircled around the heavy bag by attaching the left end 5 of the sheet 1 to the right end 6 of the sheet 1. The fastener 7 comprises a left portion 8 and a right portion 9. The left portion 8 of the fastener 7 is positioned adjacent to the left end 5, and the right portion 9 of the fastener 7 is positioned adjacent to the right end 6. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the left portion 8 of the fastener 7 could be the hooks of a Velcro strap and the right portion 9 of the fastener 7 could be the loops of a Velcro strap. In another embodiment, the left portion 8 of the fastener 7 could be a row of press stud sockets and the right portion 9 of the fastener 7 could be a row of press stud knobs. The left portion 8 is connected to the hitting surface 4 and the right portion 9 is connected to the wrapping surface 2 because the right end 6 will begin to overlap the left end 5 as the sheet 1 wraps around the heavy bag. Consequently, the right portion 9 on the wrapping surface 2 would be positioned over the left portion 8 on the hitting surface 4, which would allows the right portion 9 to engage to the left portion 8. Once the fastener 7 attaches the left end 5 to the right end 6, the present invention experiences a tension that further situates the sheet 1 on the heavy bag so that the present invention does not slide off the heavy bag due to gravity.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
