BABY CLOTH

The invention relates to a baby cloth that comprises at least one seam (5), by which two fabric strips (1, 2) have been fastened. The edges of the fabric strips (1, 2) have been placed opposite each other with an inside against an inside and fastened, the protruding edge portions (V, 2′) having been folded against the outer surface of the cloth, and a covering ribbon (4) having been attached on top of them. The inner surface of the cloth that becomes against the skin is thus as smooth and non-chafing as possible.

Description
BACKGROUND ART

The invention relates to clothing technology and concerns baby cloths.

Various cloths are manufactured for babies, in which strips of fabric have been seamed together. The seaming is carried out so that the outer surfaces of the strips are against each other at the seam, forming a protruding part on the inside.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Now, a baby cloth according to the claims is invented.

In the cloth according to the invention, the inner surfaces of the fabric strips are placed against each other, leaving the protruding portion of the seam on the outer surface of the cloth. The protruding edge portions are then folded against the outer surface and covered with a covering ribbon. The inner surface of the cloth that becomes against the skin is thus as smooth and non-chafing as possible.

The covering ribbon can also function as decoration. For example, it can show a trade name or a company logo.

The edge portions are preferably folded against the same fabric strip. Alternatively, the edge portions can be folded in opposite directions, that is, against different strips.

The information labels in the cloth, such as material and washing instruction labels, are also preferably placed outside. Then they do not chafe against the skin.

The cloth may comprise a lower opening that is surrounded by an edge ribbon. Now, the ends of the edge ribbon are preferably fastened at a point at the front of the body. Thus, the thicker junction does not become against naked skin, because the baby has a napkin under the junction.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SOME EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

In the following, some embodiments of the invention are described in more detail.

In the figures appended to the description,

FIGS. 1a and 1b show the formation of a seam;

FIG. 2 shows the reverse side of the finished seam;

FIG. 3 shows a body from the front;

FIGS. 4a and 4b show an enlargement of the crotch portion of the body;

FIG. 5 shows pajamas from the front;

FIG. 6 shows the pajamas from above;

FIG. 7 shows trousers from the front; and

FIG. 8 shows the trousers from the side.

According to FIGS. 1a, 1b, and 2, the seam is formed so that the surfaces of the fabric strips 1 and 2 that come inside the cloth are placed against each other and sewn up with a stitch 3 at a short distance from the edge. The protruding edge portions 1′ and 2′ thus formed are folded against the surface of the fabric strip 2, and a covering ribbon 4 is attached on top of them by sewing. The seam 5 thus formed is as smooth and non-chafing as possible on the inside.

In the body according to FIGS. 3, 4a, and 4b, seams 5.1 of the above-described type are formed on the outer surfaces of the shoulder portions and sleeves. The lower opening of the body: is surrounded by a continuous edge ribbon 6, the ends of which are fastened at the front. In this way, next to the thigh, where there is no napkin under the body, the edge ribbon is as smooth and non-chafing as possible. The projection 7 that comes from between the legs is unusually long. The projection is fastened to the front portion with two poppers 8. There are two pairs of counterparts of the poppers on the projection at different distances from its end. This enables the length of the body to be adjusted. The ends of the sleeves are foldable, forming mitts 9 when opened. On the external side of the neck, an information label is sewn (similarly to the pajamas in FIG. 6), including the necessary material and washing instruction information. The label does not then chafe the skin.

Similarly to the body of FIG. 3, the pajamas according to FIGS. 5 and 6 comprise seams 5.2 of the above-described type on the upper surfaces of the shoulder portions and sleeves. The pajamas are fastened with poppers 10 at the front. The crotch projection is fastened by poppers 11 at the front. On the external side of the neck, an information label 13 is sewn, including the necessary material and washing instruction information. The ends of the sleeves are foldable, forming mitts 9 when opened. Also the ends of the legs are foldable, forming socks 12 when opened.

The trousers according to FIGS. 7 and 8 comprise seams 5.3 of the above-described type at the sides thereof. The ends of the legs 14 are foldable. The upper part comprises a wide ribbed waist 15. The knees and the backside comprise pads 16.

The material of the cloths can be, for example, bamboo cotton, which is very insulating and soft on the skin.
