FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention pertains to the field of bedding, and more specifically to the field of bedding having storage modifications.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe perfect end to any day is a good night's sleep. An essential aspect of every human's life, a peaceful, full rest enables one to feel energetic and alert throughout the day. Although a person can fall asleep almost anywhere, lying on the couch watching television, reclining in an easy chair with a good book, during a boring movie, or even while riding in a car, by far the most comfortable and, of course, obvious area in which to sleep is a bed. Consisting of a comfortable mattress and fluffy, soft pillows and covered in soft sheets and warm blankets, it is little wonder that a person's bed can be their haven. As such, consumers often keep a variety of personal items nearby to facilitate comfort during the night. Whether a water bottle to quench one's thirst, a remote control to utilize on a restless night, or simply a pair of reading glasses for use in reading a passage from a favorite book before drifting off to sleep, there are a seemingly endless variety of items one might reach for in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, it is quite simple to lose track of these items, particularly if piled high on night stands or left throughout the home. Particularly, keeping track of such items as remote control units, eyeglasses and cellular telephones can prove especially challenging, because these goods are so necessary for day-to-day functioning. Should these appliances become lost or damaged, their users have no choice but to endure high replacement costs. The prior art has put forth several designs for bedding having storage modifications. Among these are:
U.S. Pat. No. 5,279,009 to David L. Putka describes a fitted bed sheet having a storage pocket at each side wall at a location readily accessible to a person while in bed. A closure in the form of a zipper closes the top of the pocket while a lock may secure the zipper in the closed condition. A flap is pivotably connected above the pocket to overlay and conceal the zipper.
U.S. Pat. No. 6,292,963 to Luc Couture describes a bedding accessory system which comprises a bed pocket having an opening therein and a fastening system which can be secured to the sheets of a bed without moving the mattress. The fastening system is a multipurpose one and can be adapted for different uses.
U.S. Pat. No. 6,594,836 to Scott Everson and Julie Everson describes a bedding element comprising a fitted bottom sheet having one or more elasticized convenience pouches sewn onto both lateral sides of the sheet. The purpose of the convenience pouches are to provide a suitable location for a person in bed to temporarily and conveniently store any number of items that are commonly used while in bed. The pouches are elasticized and open at the top to allow for easy access, and closed on the sides and bottom to keep stored items from falling out.
U.S. Pat. No. 8,046,852 to Fan Shi Hoo disclose a pocketed bed sheet with a pair of co-located pockets rectangular in shape.
None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIt is an object of the present invention to provide fitted bedding sheets with storage pocket modifications.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide fitted bed sheets with storage pocket modifications specifically designed to accommodate water bottles on both sides of the sheet for two sleepers.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide fitted bed sheets with storage pocket modifications to accommodate a front pocket for receiving facial tissues, wherein the front pocket has a slit to opening for a facial tissue to feed through to make the tissue more easily accessible.
It is an object of the present invention to provide fitted bedding sheets with storage pocket modifications wherein the front tissue pocket is in front of a larger pocket wherein the larger pocket is designed to accommodate a larger item such as a book, electronic device, or remote control, for example.
It is an object of the present invention to provide fitted bedding sheets with storage pocket modifications including a small pocket sized to receive a small object such as a cell phone or eyeglasses, for example.
The fitted bed sheet of the present invention, hereinafter referred as the pocket sheets, is a specially designed line of fitted sheets on each end of which is 1, 2, 3, 4, or more ample storage pockets which hang essentially flush against the side of the bed near the head of the bed and inside of which the user stores any number of personal items. Manufactured in various sizes appropriate for use with twin, full, queen and king sized beds, the Pocket Sheets can be produced in a variety of colors, patterns and thread counts. Materials for the Pocket Sheets include percale, satin, silk and thermal cotton blends, to name a few.
An additional fourth pocket is separate from the pouch and is positioned near the pouch described above, to accommodate a water bottle. In an embodiment, a water bottle pocket may be placed on both sides of the sheet to accommodate a water bottle for two sleepers.
In a second embodiment of the pocket sheet, a series of two or three pockets could be positioned on each side of the sheet and are configured so they rest flush against the side of the mattress, with the pocket's opening aligning slightly below the top of the mattress. The pocket sheets are sold individually and offered in sets including a top sheet and pillowcase, or just as a fitted pocket sheet.
In alternative embodiment, the top edge of the pocket may include elastic or other stretchable material to allow the top edge of the pocket to rest snugly against the mattress while holding desired items.
Use of the pocket sheets is very simple and straight forward. First, the user selects the color, material and size of the pocket sheets according to personal preference and need. By way of example, one dressing a king sized bed purchases a king size Pocket Sheet set in a color or pattern to match their bedroom decor. The user then simply makes their bed, making sure to position the sheets so the attached sewn on storage pockets rest flush against the sides of the mattress, at the head of the bed. The user then places items within the Pocket Sheet's pockets, placing such items as a box of tissues, remote control, reading glasses or even a favorite book or magazine and water bottle directly within. Climbing into bed, the user then retrieves items from the Pocket Sheets as needed, replacing these items following use.
There are several significant benefits and advantages associated with this clever product invention. Foremost, the Pocket Sheets provide a simple and effective system for storing and easily accessing eyeglasses, prescription medications, remote control units and other personal items needed throughout the night. Cushiony soft fitted sheets boasting integrated, compartmented storage pockets, this handy line of sheets protects expensive accessories from becoming lost or damaged. In this manner, consumers are able to save significant amounts of money in replacement costs. Most importantly, this cleverly designed line of sheets provide an easily accessed and centralized location for these items, eliminating the fruitless and frustrating nighttime searches that result when items are inadvertently misplaced. Ideal for home use, the Pocket Sheets also prove invaluable in hospitals and extended care facilities, ensuring that personal items are easily accessed by bed bound patients. Fully functioning fitted sheets, the Pocket Sheets provide cushiony comfort throughout the night. Manufactured of durable, high quality materials, these machine washable sheets withstand repeated laundering and wear.
The Pocket Sheets is an invention that helps solve the quite common problem of lost, misplaced, or damaged personal items. This product offers a practical, unobtrusive storage receptacle that is easily accessed throughout the night.
