DRAWER CABINET

The drawer cabinet contains first joint pieces where each of their two ends receives an end of a skeleton piece. As such, the skeleton pieces can be end-to-end connected and arranged vertically or horizontally to form the frame of a drawer cabinet. Between two vertical skeleton pieces, at least a rail piece can be installed for supporting a drawer. The quick and convenient connection by the first joint pieces and the skeleton pieces allows a drawer cabinet to be built easily and flexibly to meet the various demands for different dimensions and numbers of drawers.

Description
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is generally related to drawer cabinets, and more particular to a drawer cabinet capable of flexible configuration to fit various demands.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

A conventional drawer cabinet 10 as shown in FIG. 1 contains a number of drawers. The cabinet 10 itself and the drawers are formed by various components 101 that are manufactured into fixed dimensions and shape in advance. Most of the time, the user has to assemble these components 101 by himself or herself into the final drawer cabinet 10.

This inflexible design implies that, for a drawer cabinet 10 of different dimensions, especially of different number of drawers, the components 101 have to be re-designed and manufactured, which is rather uneconomic and inconvenient.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,761,045 discloses a drawer and cabinet assembly for one or more drawers, wherein the assembly includes stop members which are secured in hole in a slide member mounted in a recess lip, the slide member is held in place by a clip on a subassembly which holds the slide member in place for vertical sliding movement in the recess, and the stop member is moved by the slide member into a locked or unlocked position by a key activating a lever. However, such a draw and cabinet assembly is complicated in structure and difficult to manufacture thereby making it unfit for practical use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, a novel drawer cabinet is provided herein that is flexible enough to meet various demands.

The drawer cabinet contains first joint pieces, skeleton pieces, rail pieces, and drawers. Each first joint piece has a first opening on a top side, a first connection space on the two lateral sides, respectively, and a number of first bolt holes along a front and a back side, respectively. Each skeleton piece has at least a third bolt hole at its tow ends, respectively. An end of a skeleton piece can be plugged into a first connection space of a first joint piece, and at least a bolt element is applied through the first and third bolt holes to connect the first joint piece and the skeleton piece together. Between two vertical skeleton pieces, at least a rail piece can be installed for supporting a drawer. A top cover can be installed on a top side of the drawer cabinet.

Alternatively, an end of a skeleton piece can be plugged into a second joint piece. Each second joint piece has a second opening on a top side at one end, a second connection space at the other end, and a number of second bolt holes along a front and a back side, respectively. An end of a skeleton piece can be plugged into the second connection space of a second joint piece, and at least a bolt element is applied through the third and second bolt holes to connect the second joint piece and the skeleton piece together. A top cover can be installed on a top side of the drawer cabinet and, between two horizontal skeleton pieces, at least a reinforcing piece can be installed.

The foregoing objectives and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.

Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

A drawer cabinet 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 2. As illustrated, the drawer cabinet 1 contains first joint pieces 11, skeleton pieces 12, rail pieces 13, and drawers 2. For each first joint piece 11, there is a first opening 111 in the center of a top side, there is a first connection space 112 on the two lateral sides, respectively, and a number of first bolt holes 113 along a front and a back side, respectively. For each skeleton piece 12, there is at least a third bolt hole 121 at its tow ends, respectively. An end of a skeleton piece 12 can be plugged into a first connection space 112 of a first joint piece 11, the first and third bolt holes 113 and 121 are aligned and at least a bolt element 3 is applied through to connect the first joint piece 11 and the skeleton piece 12 together along with a nut 4. Similarly, the other end of the skeleton piece 12 can be plugged into a first connection space 112 of another first joint piece 11 as described above. Therefore, a number of the skeleton pieces 12 and the first joint pieces 11 can be put together into a first frame member 1A. Then, between two vertical skeleton pieces 12, one in the front and one in the back, at least a rail piece 13 can be installed. Each rail piece 13 has an end-to-end support section 131 for supporting a drawer 2. Then, a complete drawer cabinet 1 is formed.

Alternatively, an end of a skeleton piece 12 can be plugged into a first connection space 112 of a first joint piece 11, and the other end of the skeleton piece 12 can be plugged into a second joint piece 5. For each second joint piece 5, there is a second opening 51 on a top side at one end, there is a second connection space 52 at the other end, and a number of second bolt holes 53 along a front and a back side, respectively. An end of a skeleton piece 12 can be plugged into the second connection space 52 of a second joint piece 5, the third and second bolt holes 121 and 53 are aligned and at least a bolt element 3 is applied through to connect the second joint piece 5 and the skeleton piece 12 together along with a nut 4. Additionally, a top cover 6 can be installed on a top side of the drawer cabinet 1 and, between two horizontal skeleton pieces 12, one in the front and one in the back, at least a reinforcing piece 1B can be installed.

FIG. 3 is a perspective diagram showing the drawer cabinet 1 after it is assembled. It can be seen that the drawer cabinet 1 can be constructed to fit the required number of drawers by connecting an appropriate numbers of the first joint pieces 11, skeleton pieces 12, and the second joint pieces 5. The assembly process is also convenient and easy.

FIG. 4 is a perspective diagram showing another scenario of the drawer cabinet 1 of FIG. 2 after it is assembled. It can be seen that the drawer cabinet 1 can be constructed to fit the required dimension by connecting an appropriate numbers of the first joint pieces 11, skeleton pieces 12, and the second joint pieces 5. The assembly again could be conveniently and easily done.

While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.

Claims

1. A drawer cabinet, comprising:

a plurality of first joint pieces, each having a first opening in the center of a top side, a first connection space on the two lateral sides, respectively, and a plurality of first bolt holes along a front and a back side, respectively;
a plurality of skeleton pieces, each having at least a third bolt hole at tow ends, respectively, wherein an end of a skeleton piece is plugged into a first connection space of a first joint piece, the first and third bolt holes are aligned, at least a bolt element is applied through the first and third bolt holes to connect the first joint piece and the skeleton piece together along with a nut, and the skeleton pieces and the first joint pieces are put together into a frame for the drawer cabinet;
at least a pair of rail pieces, each laterally configured between two vertical skeleton pieces and having an end-to-end support section; and
at least a drawers supported by the support sections of the pair of rail pieces.

2. The drawer cabinet according to claim 1, further comprising

a plurality of second joint pieces, each having a second opening at one end, a second connection space at the other end, and a plurality of second bolt holes along a front and a back side, respectively;
wherein an end of a skeleton piece is plugged into a second connection space of a second joint piece, the second and third bolt holes are aligned, at least a bolt element is applied through the second and third bolt holes to connect the second joint piece and the skeleton piece together along with a nut.

3. The drawer cabinet according to claim 2, further comprising a top cover on a top side of the drawer cabinet.

4. The drawer cabinet according to claim 1, further comprising at least a reinforcing piece configured between two horizontal skeleton pieces.

5. The drawer cabinet according to claim 2, further comprising

at least a reinforcing piece configured between two horizontal skeleton pieces.

6. The drawer cabinet according to claim 3, further comprising

at least a reinforcing piece configured between two horizontal skeleton pieces.
