An exercise device is provided with a frame assembly including an inclined first leg including a stop member proximate a bottom end, and a mounting member at a top end; and an inclined second leg and including a support tube, a sliding tube slidably put on the support tube and having a top end pivotably secured to the mounting member, and a resilient detent in the support tube for locking the sliding and support tubes before and after length adjustment of the second leg; two opposite handlebars; and a sliding assembly including a sliding member slidably mounted on the first leg and being capable of sliding in a range from a position proximate the mounting member to the stop member, a left knee rest secured to left side of the sliding member, and a right knee rest secured to right side of the sliding member.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to exercise equipment and more particularly to an exercise device comprising a length adjustable leg, a fixed length leg pivotably secured to the length adjustable leg, and a sliding assembly slidable along the fixed length leg so that a user's targeted muscles, such as the muscles of the hands, the abdominal muscles, and the muscles of the back can be enhanced when the user is kneed on the sliding assembly and moving back and forth along the fixed length leg while holding handlebars.

2. Description of Related Art

The fitness desire captivating the attention of increasing number of people throughout the world has spawned an endless array of exercise equipment. For example, there are exercisers for strengthening a user's target muscles such as muscles of the back, the bicep, the abdominal muscles, etc.

Pull-up is a very popular form of exercise for a long time. It typically refers to a closed-chain bodyweight movement where the body is suspended by the arms gripped by the hands, and pulled up with muscular effort. As this happens, the wrists remain in neutral position, the elbows flex, and the shoulder extends to bring the elbows to. The exercise often targets the latissimus dorsi muscle in the back along with many other assisting muscles.

Unfortunately, in often times a person has to go to a health club or park to find a bar for exercise purposes. This is not convenient. Thus, the need for improvement still exists.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is therefore one object of the invention to provide an exercise device comprising a frame assembly comprising a first leg including a stop member proximate a bottom end, and a mounting member at a top end; and a second leg inclined at an angle with respect to the first leg and comprising a support tube including a first end hole facing the first leg and a second end hole opposite to the first end hole, a sliding tube slidably put on the support tube and having a top end pivotably secured to the mounting member, the sliding tube including a plurality of first holes facing the first leg and a plurality of second holes opposite to the first holes, and a resilient detent disposed in the support tube and including two end projections wherein one projection passes through the first end hole into the aligned first hole to be locked and the other projection passes through the second end hole into the aligned second hole to be locked, and wherein the projections can be pressed toward each other to clear the first hole and the second hole respectively so as to be capable of sliding the sliding tube to lock the projections in another pair of the first and second holes respectively; two opposite handlebars each including a padding member at one end proximate the mounting member; and a sliding assembly comprising a sliding member slidably mounted on the first leg and being capable of sliding in a range from a position proximate the mounting member to the stop member, a front axis passing through one side of the sliding member and through the other side thereof, a rear axis passing through one side of the sliding member and through the other side thereof, a padded left knee rest secured to both the front and rear axes and including a surface recess, and a padded right knee rest secured to both the front and rear axes and including a surface recess.

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 5, an exercise device in accordance with the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below.

A frame assembly 1 comprises a T-shaped first leg 11 and a T-shaped second leg 12 having a top end pivotably secured to a top end of the first leg 11. The top end of the first leg 11 is formed as a mounting member 10 with the top end of the second leg 12 pivotably secured thereto. The first leg 11 has a stop member 111 provided proximate the bottom end. In an operative position, both the first leg 11 and the second leg 12 are supported by the ground and the first leg 11 is inclined at an angle with respect to the second leg 12 and vice versa.

The first leg 11 is fixed in length while the second leg 12 is length adjustable. The second leg 12 comprises a T-shaped support tube 122 and a sliding tube 121 slidably put on the support tube 122 as detailed below. The upright portion of the support tube 122 has a substantially rectangular cross-section and the sliding tube 121 also has same shape. The sliding tube 121 comprises a plurality of holes 123A on a surface facing the first leg 11 and a plurality of holes 123B on another surface opposite to the surface formed with the holes 123A. Correspondingly, the support tube 122 comprises an end hole 124A on a surface facing the first leg 11 and an end hole 124B on another surface opposite to the surface formed with the end hole 124A. The second leg 12 further comprises a bent, resilient detent 125 including two projections 126 proximate both ends respectively in which one projection 126 passes through the end hole 124A into the aligned hole 123A to be locked and the other projection 126 passes through the end hole 124B into the aligned hole 123B to be locked (i.e., the second leg 12 being locked) as shown in FIG. 4.

In a length adjustment operation of the second leg 12, a user may use one hand to press both the projections 126 toward each other (i.e., the detent 125 being elastically compressed and energized) until both the projections 126 clear the hole 123A and the hole 123B respectively (i.e., the sliding tube 121 being unlocked). Next, the user may use the other hand to pull the sliding tube 121 until a desired pair of holes 123A and 123B are aligned with the pair of end holes 124A and 124B. Next, the detent 125 immediately releases its stored elastic force to expand the projections 126 into the holes 123A and 123B respectively to be locked.

Note that above is a multiple-step operation if the target holes 123A and 123B are not the ones immediately next to the holes 123A and 123B which are previously aligned with the end holes 124A and 124B respectively. The inclined angle of the first leg 11 with respect to the second leg 12 is also changed as a result of the length adjustment operation of the second leg 12.

The frame assembly 1 further comprises two opposite bent handlebars 101 each having a padding member 102 at one end proximate the mounting member 10. The elbows of a user may rest against the padding members 102 during an exercise.

The sliding assembly 2 is adapted to slide along the first leg 11 in a range about from a position near the mounting member 10 to the stop member 111. In detail, the sliding assembly 2 comprises an intermediate sliding member 21, a front grooved wheel 23A rotatably mounted on a front end of the bottom of the sliding member 21 and adapted to roll on the first leg 11, a rear grooved wheel 23B rotatably mounted on a rear end of the bottom of the sliding member 21 and adapted to roll on the first leg 11, and an intermediate grooved wheel 25 rotatably mounted on an intermediate portion of the bottom of the sliding member 21 and adapted to roll on the bottom of the first leg 11. Thus, the sliding member 21 is adapted to slide along the first leg 11 which is served as rail.

The sliding assembly 2 further comprises a left knee rest 22 formed of padding material and a right knee rest 24 formed of padding material. The left and right knee rests 22 and 24 are secured to both sides of the sliding member 21 respectively. A front axis 221 is provided to pass through one side of the sliding member 21 and through the other side thereof. A rear axis 241 parallel to the front axis 221 is provided to pass through one side of the sliding member 21 and through the other side thereof. The left knee rest 22 is secured to both the first and second axes 221 and 241 and comprises an intermediate recess 222. Likewise, the right knee rest 24 as a mirror image of the left knee rest 22 is also secured to both the first and second axes 221 and 241 and comprises an intermediate recess 242.

Prior to exercise, a user may adjust the inclined angle of the first leg 11 with respect to the second leg 12 in a way discussed in above paragraphs. An exercise using the exercise device of the invention will be discussed in detail below by referring to FIG. 5 specifically. First, both hands of a user hold the handlebars 101 with the elbows rested against the padding members 102. Also, the knees are rested on the recesses 222 and 242 respectively. Thereafter, the legs may exert a force on the left and right knee rests 22 and 24 to slide the sliding member 21 along the first leg 11 (i.e., the grooved wheels 23A, 23B and 25 rolling on the first leg 11) back and forth. In one extremity, the sliding assembly 2 reaches a position near the mounting member 10 and in the other extremity, the sliding assembly 2 is stopped by the stop member 111. It is envisaged by the invention that the a user's targeted muscles, such as the muscles of the hands, the abdominal muscles, and the muscles of the back can be enhanced using the exercise device.

While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. An exercise device comprising:

a frame assembly comprising a first leg including a stop member proximate a bottom end, and a mounting member at a top end; and a second leg inclined at an angle with respect to the first leg and comprising a support tube including a first end hole facing the first leg and a second end hole opposite to the first end hole, a sliding tube slidably put on the support tube and having a top end pivotably secured to the mounting member, the sliding tube including a plurality of first holes facing the first leg and a plurality of second holes opposite to the first holes, and a resilient detent disposed in the support tube and including two end projections wherein one projection passes through the first end hole into the aligned first hole to be locked and the other projection passes through the second end hole into the aligned second hole to be locked, and wherein the projections can be pressed toward each other to clear the first hole and the second hole respectively so as to be capable of sliding the sliding tube to lock the projections in another pair of the first and second holes respectively;
two opposite handlebars each including a padding member at one end proximate the mounting member; and
a sliding assembly comprising a sliding member slidably mounted on the first leg and being capable of sliding in a range from a position proximate the mounting member to the stop member, a front axis passing through one side of the sliding member and through the other side thereof, a rear axis passing through one side of the sliding member and through the other side thereof, a padded left knee rest secured to both the front and rear axes and including a surface recess, and a padded right knee rest secured to both the front and rear axes and including a surface recess.

The exercise device of claim 1, wherein the sliding member comprises a front grooved wheel rotatably mounted on a front end of bottom of the sliding member and being capable of rolling on the first leg, a rear grooved wheel rotatably mounted on a rear end of the bottom of the sliding member and being capable of rolling on the first leg, and an intermediate grooved wheel rotatably mounted on an intermediate portion of the bottom of the sliding member and capable of rolling on the bottom of the first leg.
