Non Stop Commute On Single Railway

-

Non-Stop Commute is a revolutionized railway travel, which make full use of current railway construction, get rid of locomotive, simply run with enhanced multiple units. It can increase the traffic flow to double or more and save all the waiting time for passengers at waypoint stops. It only brakes those stop unit(s) in need rather than the whole moving train. And it only accelerates those ready to go unit(s) the similar way. The moving trains run at an efficient speed and never need to stop in normal operation. Any train unit movement is synchronized by location and timing for best safety. The system simulation software is ready online to download and simple demo video is available as well.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

Simulation software of NSCSR was programmed in both C# and Java. The latest version is 2.2 for the time being. It's available online and helps people understand the idea and simulate the specific design in need. The trial version is on the link:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Railway has been the one of the most efficient traffic means in our daily life. Current railway or subway need to stop at the fixed stations in the way. Each stop and acceleration in a station means time waste for passengers and potential safety issue. Crash happens sometimes especially in case no synchronized controls are taken. On Nov. 24, 2011, Paul Priestman published his new idea “Moving Platform” on CNN News. They call it revolutionizing rail travel, which avoid the stop of train traffic but still has issues as:

    • 1. Need construction to build parallel railway, which means high cost and need to take extra area of land.
    • 2. Passengers have to get on and take off at different end of a fixed land station. The minimum distance is the vehicle break distance plus acceleration distance. It needs extra traffic service and passenger time to bring passengers to the same spot.
    • 3. Main rail and side rail synchronizing has more potential accident issue in urgent case.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Non-Stop Commute idea solve the above issues perfectly. Take a loop railway for example. Let's keep the current railway exactly the same. Pretend each station has a unit waiting for passengers as ready to go unit. When moving train come close to a station, the ready to go unit speed up at the right timing to let the moving train catches up. They chain together and offer a path for passengers to walk through onboard, so passengers can walk to their target unit in the moving train. Meanwhile, the moving train drops the last unit to stop at the station. Passengers get a non-stop commute when their unit stops, and each unit is actually a dynamic station.

Multi-units can be set in waiting depend on the size of a station. And the moving train may drop the same amount of multi-units in the station as in need.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 is a picture from NSCSR simulation software. The center background is a sample map and loop railway. The moving train has 4 units start with the red one go to right. It runs at a constant speed. All others unit(s) are in their stations, e.g. station 1 has one unit colored as white, station 2 has one unit color as orange, station 3 has 3 units colored as yellow, green and blue and so on. This figure shows one moving train start form station 1 and is going to station 2.

FIG. 2 The moving train is approaching station 2. It drops off the last white unit to stop, and is catching up the accelerated orange unit.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As the 2 pictures named FIGS. 1 & 2 from the simulation result, the GUI is a window form with dropdown menu. The center area can be a map, and a railway loop is used as an example. This sample configuration has 6 train stations scattered on the railroad, ordered starting from the top left corner clockwise as 1,2,3,4,5,6.

Each of those squares represents a train unit. The first 7 units are color coded in order as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple. The eighth one is colored as red back and the rest units are colored white.

One or more units are assigned in each of stations. Passengers board at any time when they arrive. And these unit(s) turns to be ready to go unit(s) when the moving train is close to this station,

The moving train has a number of units and continuously run at an efficient speed. The number is 4 in this sample. When the moving train moves close to the next station as station 2, the ready to go unit(s) with new passengers starts to accelerate to the efficient speed of the moving train; meanwhile, the moving train drops off the last unit to stop. When the moving train catches up the accelerated unit, they chain together as the moving train to next station and finish the unit transfer.

Pretend a passenger wants to go from station 2 to station 6. He gets on in station 2 and waits for the moving train. He needs to keep himself in the moving train as indicated before station 5. After the train passes station 5, he needs to walk to the last unit which will stop in station 6. Once his unit stops at station 6, his non-stop commute is done. All passengers perform the same procedure and they all get their non-stop commute, and any of the train units is a dynamic station.

Multi-unit configuration has more units in some stations as the station 3 in this sample. It works the same way as single unit configuration except the only difference of the unit amount transferred. Multi-unit configuration is popular for the variation from station to station, or rush hour schedules in need.

A trial simulation SW has been published online. Besides simulating the above functions, it can get any map all over the world by simply clicking the location menu and typing the coordination or address. Furthermore, a picture can be opened to replace the current map.

Claims

1) What I claim as my invention is non-stop commute on single railway: It's a revolutionized railway travel and consists of moving trains and dynamic station units. The moving trains run at none stop efficient speed and offer non stop commute. Locomotive is no longer in need. Traffic system runs by synchronized running control below.

2) What I claim as my invention is Dynamic Station, which is self powered train unit as multiple-unit but added with station function to transfer freight and passengers on moving at travel speed. The direction to transfer is same as the moving direction.

3) What I claim as my invention is Synchronize Running Control, which synchronizes the running of moving train and dynamic stations by location and timing to avoid traffic accident. Stop units drop off at a distance to target station and stop there eventually. Ready to go units speed up before the moving train arrives at the station and hookup to run at moving train's efficient speed. Besides, synchronize running control uses location sensor, microwave sensor and motion detection camera to guaranteed traffic safety.
