SLIDING HINGE AND PORTABLE DEVICE
A sliding hinge for a portable device has a main bracket, a mounting panel and a coil spring. The mounting panel is slid relative to the main bracket. A distal end of the coil spring is attached securely to the mounting panel. The mounting panel is attached securely to a cover of the portable device. 1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a sliding hinge, especially to a sliding hinge mounted between a cover and a base of a portable device.
2. Description of the Prior Arts
With the growing popularity of the portable devices, the portable devices are developed with different kinds of applications. For example, traditional tiling notebook computer is obsolete. The sliding notebook computer with touch panel is now popular. The sliding notebook computer has a conventional sliding hinge to allow the cover to slide relative to the base. When the cover is fully opened, the sliding hinge also allows the cover to pivot relative to the base. However, when the cover is slid, the user needs to provide enough force to fully open the cover. Especially when the cover is larger, the user needs to provide more power. If the user provides insufficient force so that the cover is not fully opened, pivoting the cover will cause the conventional sliding hinge to be damaged or the cover to bump into the base.
To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a sliding hinge to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe main objective of the present invention is to provide a sliding hinge that ensures the cover is fully opened while the cover is slid to open. The sliding hinge for a portable device has a main bracket, a mounting panel and a coil spring. The mounting panel is slid relative to the main bracket. A distal end of the coil spring is attached securely to the mounting panel. The mounting panel is attached securely to a cover of the portable device. A proximal end of the coil spring is attached securely to a base of the portable device. When the cover is slid to open, the coil spring forces the cover to be fully opened. Therefore, the cover slides to be fully opened without external forces.

Claims
1. A sliding hinge comprising:
- a main bracket having a sliding track mounted on an inner side of the main bracket; and a first roller mounted pivotally in the main bracket;
- a mounting panel mounted slidably in the sliding track of the main bracket;
- a tilting assembly connected to the main bracket and comprising a rotating bracket attached securely to the main bracket; a pivoting rod mounted rotatably through the rotating bracket; and a stationary bracket mounted securely around the pivoting rod; and
- a recovery assembly connected to the tilting assembly and comprising a roller assembly connected to the stationary bracket of the tilting assembly and having a pintle mounted securely through the stationary bracket; and a second roller mounted rotatably around the pintle; and a coil spring having a proximal end; and a distal end wound across the second roller and the first roller in sequence and attached securely to the mounting panel.
2. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 1, wherein directions of the distal end of the coil spring winding around the first and second rollers are opposite.
3. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 1, wherein
- the main bracket comprises an upper bracket having a receiving recess formed by bending one side of the upper bracket and having an opening facing the inner side of the main bracket; a lower bracket attached securely to the upper bracket and having a mounting recess formed on an outer side of the lower bracket; and a pivoting seat mounted securely in the mounting recess and having a top opening and a bottom opening;
- the sliding track of the main bracket is mounted securely in the receiving recess of the upper bracket; and
- the first roller is mounted pivotally in the pivoting seat.
4. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 2, wherein
- the main bracket comprises an upper bracket having a receiving recess formed by bending one side of the upper bracket and having an opening facing the inner side of the main bracket; a lower bracket attached securely to the upper bracket and having a mounting recess formed on an outer side of the lower bracket; and a pivoting seat mounted securely in the mounting recess and having a top opening and a bottom opening;
- the sliding track of the main bracket is mounted securely in the receiving recess of the upper bracket; and the first roller is mounted pivotally in the pivoting seat.
5. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 1, wherein
- the stationary bracket of the tilting assembly has a first stationary spacer and a second stationary spacer respectively formed on an edge of the stationary bracket and separated from each other; and
- the pivoting rod is mounted securely through the first stationary spacer.
6. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 4, wherein
- the stationary bracket of the tilting assembly has a first stationary spacer and a second stationary spacer respectively formed on an edge of the stationary bracket and separated from each other; and
- the pivoting rod is mounted securely through the first stationary spacer.
7. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 6, wherein the tilting assembly comprises a torsion generating assembly mounted around the pivoting rod, mounted between the first and second stationary spacers and attached to the first stationary spacer.
8. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a locking assembly mounted on an outer side of the main bracket and having
- a stationary resilient sheet attached securely on the outer side of the main bracket and having an actuating segment formed thereon; and
- a sliding resilient sheet attached securely on the mounting panel, slid simultaneously with the mounting panel, selectively held by the stationary resilient sheet and having an actuating segment formed thereon and corresponding to and selectively abutting the actuating segment of the stationary resilient sheet.
9. The sliding hinge as claimed in claim 7 further comprising a locking assembly mounted on an outer side of the main bracket and having
- a stationary resilient sheet attached securely on the outer side of the main bracket and having an actuating segment formed thereon; and
- a sliding resilient sheet attached securely on the mounting panel, slid simultaneously with the mounting panel, selectively held by the stationary resilient sheet and having an actuating segment formed thereon and corresponding to and selectively abutting the actuating segment of the stationary resilient sheet.
10. A portable device comprising:
- a base;
- a cover mounted pivotally and slidably on the base;
- two sliding hinges mounted between the base and the cover, located on two opposite sides and comprising a main bracket having a sliding track mounted on an inner side of the main bracket; and a first roller mounted pivotally in the main bracket; a tilting assembly connected to the main bracket and comprising a rotating bracket attached securely to the main bracket; a pivoting rod mounted rotatably through the rotating bracket; and a stationary bracket mounted securely around the pivoting rod; and a recovery assembly connected to the tilting assembly and comprising a roller assembly connected to the stationary bracket of the tilting assembly and having a pintle mounted securely through the stationary bracket; and a second roller mounted rotatably around the pintle; and a coil spring having a proximal end; and a distal end wound across the second roller and the first roller in sequence and attached securely to the mounting panel; and
- a mounting panel mounted between the sliding hinges and having two sides respectively mounted slidably in the sliding tracks of the main brackets.
11. The portable device as claimed in claim 10 further comprising a connecting panel mounted across the sliding hinges.
12. The portable device as claimed in claim 10 further comprising at least one wheel mounted between the cover and the base.
13. The portable device as claimed in claim 11 further comprising at least one wheel mounted between the cover and the base.
14. The portable device as claimed in claim 12, wherein the at least one wheel is mounted on a bottom surface of the cover.
15. The portable device as claimed in claim 12, wherein the at least one wheel is mounted on a top surface of the base.
16. The portable device as claimed in claim 10, wherein directions of the distal end of the coil spring of the recovery assembly of each sliding hinge winding around the first and second rollers are opposite.
17. The portable device as claimed in claim 10, wherein
- the main bracket of each sliding hinge comprises an upper bracket having a receiving recess formed by bending one side of the upper bracket and having an opening facing the inner side of the main bracket; a lower bracket attached securely to the upper bracket and having a mounting recess formed on an outer side of the lower bracket; and a pivoting seat mounted securely in the mounting recess and having a top opening and a bottom opening;
- the sliding track of the main bracket of each sliding hinge is mounted securely in the receiving recess of the upper bracket; and
- the first roller of each sliding hinge is mounted pivotally in the pivoting seat.
18. The portable device as claimed in claim 10, wherein
- the stationary bracket of the tilting assembly of each sliding hinge has a first stationary spacer and a second stationary spacer respectively formed on an edge of the stationary bracket and separated from each other; and
- the pivoting rod of each sliding hinge is mounted securely through the first stationary spacer.
19. The portable device as claimed in claim 18, wherein the tilting assembly of each sliding hinge comprises a torsion generating assembly mounted around the pivoting rod, mounted between the first and second stationary spacers and attached to the first stationary spacer.
20. The portable device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the actuating segments of the sliding and stationary resilient sheets of each sliding hinge are protrusions.
