Description
BACKGROUND

This disclosure relates to a system and method for maintaining a sanitary pad in position in an undergarment.

Women use sanitary pads to protect clothing during menstruation. Over the years, sanitary pads evolved. Historically, cloth sanitary pads were used. However, the pads would shift due to normal body movements during the course of a day, causing the pads to be less effective. To remedy this problem, methods for maintaining sanitary pads in place have evolved over the years. In one example, sanitary pads have included an adhesive surface to attach an undergarment. However, the adhesive surface has not been a perfect remedy. The adhesive surface often loses its adhesiveness with use, due to heat, moisture, and movement.

As such, it would be advantageous to useful to have an improved system and method for maintaining a sanitary pad in position in an undergarment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Described herein is a system for maintaining sanitary pad in position in an undergarment. The following description is presented to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the invention as claimed and is provided in the context of the particular examples discussed below, variations of which will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. In the interest of clarity, not all features of an actual implementation are described in this specification. It will be appreciated that in the development of any such actual implementation (as in any development project), design decisions must be made to achieve the designers' specific goals (e.g., compliance with system- and business-related constraints), and that these goals will vary from one implementation to another. It will also be appreciated that such development effort might be complex and time-consuming, but would nevertheless be a routine undertaking for those of ordinary skill in the field of the appropriate art having the benefit of this disclosure. Accordingly, the claims appended hereto are not intended to be limited by the disclosed embodiments, but are to be accorded their widest scope consistent with the principles and features disclosed herein.

FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of garment 100. Garment 100 can be composed of a fabric and other materials garment materials, formed to comprise a front section 101 and a rear section 102. Front section 101 and rear section can comprise a left hip section 103 and a right hip section 104. Front section 101 can be sown to rear section 102 at left hip section 103 and right hip section 104. Front section 101 can also connect to the front of a crotch 103. Rear section 102 can connect to the back of a crotch section 103. In a preferred embodiment, front section 101 can be connected to rear section 102 at crotch 103 as one solid piece of cloth, connected to left and right hips sections 104 by sewing. Garment 100 can further comprise a waistband 105. Such waistband 105 can be made of elastic fabrics and/or be decorative.

FIG. 2 illustrates a garment disconnected at the left and right hip sections 104, and laid out with the inside visible. Inner front section 106 can further comprise a front inner lining 107. Front inner lining 107 can connect to garment 100 by a first connector 108 running along the left side of front inner lining 107, a second connector 109 running along the right side of front inner lining 107, and in one embodiment, a top connector 110 running along the back portion of front inner lining 107. Front inner lining 107 can comprise a front orifice 108 formed by space between front section 101 and front inner lining 107, where a first end of a sanitary pad 109 can be inserted. In one embodiment, one or more connectors of first connector 110, second connector 111 or top connector 112 can be a hook and loop fastener system. In another embodiment, first connector 110, second connector 111, and/or top connector 112 can be seams. In such embodiment, first connector 110, second connector 111, and top connector 112 can be a single contiguous seam. The length and width of inner front inner lining 107 can vary relative to the size garment 100 to accommodate different sanitary pads 108 or for simplicity in manufacturing the garments. For example first 110, second 111 and top 112 connectors, if seams can be positioned to follow typical seam positions for garment 100. In one embodiment, inner front lining 107 is less than one inch from top to bottom. In another embodiment, inner front lining 107 is less than two inches from top to bottom. In another embodiment, inner front lining 107 can extend from crotch section 103 to waistband 105.

FIG. 2 further illustrates an inner rear section 113. Inner rear section 113 can comprise a rear inner lining 114. Rear inner lining 114 can connect to garment 100 by a third connector 115 running along the left side of rear inner lining 111, a fourth connector 116 running along the right side of rear inner lining 111, and in one embodiment, a bottom connector 117 running along the back portion of rear inner lining 111. Rear inner lining 111 can comprise a rear orifice 118 created by rear inner lining 111 and rear section 102, where a second end of a sanitary pad 109 can be inserted. In one embodiment, one or more connectors of third connector 115, fourth connector 116 or bottom connector 117 can be a hook and loop fastener system. In another embodiment, third connector 115, fourth connector 116, and/or bottom connector 117 can be a seam. In such embodiment, third connector 115, fourth connector 116, and back connector 117 can be a single contiguous seam or three separate seams. The length and width of rear inner lining 111 can vary relative to the size garment to accommodate different sanitary pads 108 or for simplicity in manufacturing the garments. For example third 115, fourth 116, and bottom 117 connectors, if seams, can be positioned to follow typical seam positions for garment 100. As shown in FIG. 2, a significant portion of sanitary pad 112 resides in over crotch 103 in a portion not covered by either front inner lining 107 or rear inner lining 111. In one embodiment, inner rear lining 111 is less than one inch from top to bottom of inner rear lining 111. In another embodiment, inner rear lining 111 is less than two inches from top to bottom. In another embodiment, inner rear lining 111 can extend from crotch section 103 to waistband 105. In one embodiment, inner front lining and/or inner rear lining can comprise an elastic material.
